Lucky With You Episode 21 Recap
> Lucky With You Recap
Hou Jue, feeling lively, discussed life with Wu Shiyi, sharing his new insights that life should be rich and varied. He reflected that while a smooth path might seem appealing, he would likely envy those living eventful, challenging lives, as true value and meaning come from diverse experiences, even hardships. Wu Shiyi agreed that human nature often desires what it lacks. However, she found his presence already made her life "torturous" and "colorful," preferring simple rest when tired.
They eventually bid each other goodnight. Later, Holy Lord stormed into Zhirong Construction to confront Hou Zhirong. He expressed his anger, reminding Hou Zhirong of their long-standing business partnership and their hopes for Hou Jue and Chen Chen to marry, which would strengthen their alliance.
Holy Lord, who had spoiled Chen Chen all her life, revealed his outrage that Hou Jue not only failed to protect Chen Chen but also sided with the female bodyguard, Wu Shiyi, and publicly scolded his daughter. Hou Zhirong, exasperated, slammed his hand on the table and profusely apologized on Hou Jue’s behalf, promising to discipline his son. Holy Lord reluctantly accepted the apology but demanded satisfaction for his daughter.
To appease him, Hou Zhirong proposed a dinner at his club, where Hou Jue would formally apologize to Chen Chen. He also agreed to dismiss Wu Shiyi. After Holy Lord departed, Hou Zhirong summoned Wu Shiyi. Hou Jue, suspecting it was about Chen Chen, insisted on accompanying Wu Shiyi to the office door and then eavesdropped from outside.
Inside, Hou Zhirong initially praised Wu Shiyi's professionalism but then stated that he had overlooked the "chemical reactions" that could develop between two single individuals spending all their time together. He clarified that while Hou Jue was free to love, his marriage, as the company's heir, was a matter of strategic alliance to protect the company's interests.
He informed Wu Shiyi that he had chosen Chen Chen as Hou Jue's future wife and, since Chen Chen objected to Wu Shiyi’s presence, Wu Shiyi would have to leave. Wu Shiyi reiterated company rules against dating clients, assuring him of her strict adherence. At this point, Hou Jue burst in, declaring that Wu Shiyi had nothing to do with the issue. He insisted that the true obstacle between him and Chen Chen was Chen Chen's "dramatic" personality.
Hou Zhirong dismissed Wu Shiyi, instructing her to wait outside. He explained to Hou Jue that he was clearing the path for his son's marriage to Chen Chen, emphasizing the importance of their family’s business alliance. However, Hou Jue remained adamant that he and Chen Chen had no future, blaming Chen Chen's lack of respect for Wu Shiyi’s work for the previous day’s incident.
Hou Zhirong gave Hou Jue an ultimatum: if he insisted on keeping Wu Shiyi and refused Chen Chen, he must find a way to repair his relationship with Chen Chen himself. Hou Jue agreed, stating that the upcoming dinner would allow his father to witness Chen Chen’s true nature. Overhearing this, Wu Shiyi, feeling she was causing trouble, prepared to pack and leave, but Hou Jue refused to let her, telling her to stay put.
Separately, Xiao Min frantically contacted Ma Zong after discovering twenty million had been transferred from their account. Ma Zong calmly admitted he moved the money to a friend overseas to buy a house, planning for their future, as Xiao Min had wanted to leave. Xiao Min reminded him that their original intent was only to scare Hou Zhirong and return the money, not steal it.
She was terrified, pointing out that her past actions (involving Hou Jue) against the "Black community's" property and Zhirong's website caused no actual loss, but this was a serious crime. Ma Zong, however, revealed his deep-seated bitterness: after thirteen years of loyal service, protecting the company's interests and rejecting high salaries, Hou Zhirong had only ever seen him as an "outsider" who couldn’t be fully trusted. He considered the twenty million as what Hou Zhirong owed him.
Despite Xiao Min’s tearful pleas that he would regret this criminal act, Ma Zong remained resolute, prioritizing her happiness and safety above legal consequences. Meanwhile, as Hou Jue and Wu Shiyi were out buying a gift for Chen Chen, they ran into Lanqi, who was shopping with Wu Shiyi’s parents, Zhang Yingnan and Wu Tianyi, for Zhang Yingnan’s birthday. Hou Jue, trying to outdo Lanqi, grandly offered to buy whatever Zhang Yingnan wanted, but then abruptly left, flustered.
He grumbled about Lanqi's "deep tactics" of secretly getting close to her parents. Wu Shiyi, unconcerned, reminded him that Lanqi had known her parents for years. Lanqi, in turn, reassured Zhang Yingnan and Wu Tianyi that he didn’t mind Hou Jue, viewing them as his own parents. He also correctly predicted that Wu Shiyi would never accept an expensive gift from Hou Jue.
Wu Tianyi and Zhang Yingnan were pleased by Lanqi’s filial devotion and felt that having two strong contenders for Wu Shiyi would make her more cherished and help her understand her own worth. Before the dinner, Hou Jue pressed Wu Shiyi for her parents' phone number, wanting to establish his own connection, but she refused.
As they approached the private dining room, Hou Jue confided in Wu Shiyi that he hoped Chen Chen would show her "evil face" to his father. Inside, Hou Zhirong, Holy Lord, and Chen Chen were waiting. Hou Jue, running late, presented Chen Chen with the expensive bag. Hou Zhirong tried to smooth things over, making apologies for Hou Jue.
He reminisced with Holy Lord about their own past business disagreements, emphasizing the strength of their bond and their shared hopes for Hou Jue and Chen Chen. However, Chen Chen remained angry. She immediately asked Hou Jue if he had fired Wu Shiyi. Upon learning he hadn't, she insisted on Wu Shiyi’s immediate dismissal, calling her a mere "female follower."
Hou Zhirong defended Wu Shiyi, explaining her excellent professional background as a championship-winning athlete and her vital role in protecting his "only seedling," Hou Jue. Chen Chen, un Swayed, reiterated her demand for Wu Shiyi to leave, stating her dislike was sufficient reason. To resolve the impasse, Hou Zhirong reluctantly instructed Hou Jue to bring Wu Shiyi in to apologize. Hou Jue went to get Wu Shiyi, telling her it was a mere formality for his father's sake.
Wu Shiyi agreed. Entering the room, Wu Shiyi offered a sincere apology to Chen Chen for any previous offenses. Chen Chen, however, prolonged the confrontation, demanding Wu Shiyi elaborate on her wrongdoings and questioning her sincerity. Holy Lord tried to intervene, but Chen Chen ignored him. She then poured a glass of wine and ordered Wu Shiyi to drink it to become "good friends." Wu Shiyi refused, citing company policy against drinking on duty.
Chen Chen angrily declared herself Wu Shiyi's "discipline" and insisted she obey. When Hou Jue tried to defuse the situation by drinking the wine himself, Chen Chen became enraged. She accused him of prioritizing Wu Shiyi’s profession over her, threatening to have Wu Shiyi fired "in minutes." She then hurled insults at Wu Shiyi, calling her a "follower," a "human shield," and a "watchdog." In a fit of rage, Chen Chen splashed a glass of wine all over Wu Shiyi.
Wu Shiyi angrily demanded Chen Chen retract her insults and apologize. Chen Chen defiantly refused, intensifying the argument. Unable to tolerate further disrespect towards Wu Shiyi, Hou Jue grabbed her hand and declared to his father that they had apologized and would no longer endure the situation. He led Wu Shiyi out. As they left, Hou Zhirong frantically called after Hou Jue, while Chen Chen, in a fit of uncontrollable rage, violently flipped the dinner table, much to Holy Lord's dismay.
