Wu Shiyi, filled with a murderous aura, finished beating Da Peng and snatched Hou Jue's phone to record her number. She declared that she would settle the score for both him and his car later, then walked away without a word of apology. Hou Jue, speechless, rushed to Hai Xing to lament his fate. He explained that his girlfriend, Huang Yue, was getting married, but he wasn't the groom.

He felt deeply wronged and humiliated, asking Hai Xing to find out who had "cuckolded" him. Hai Xing tried to comfort Hou Jue, downplaying Huang Yue and offering to set him up with a better woman, but Hou Jue insisted on his pain and humiliation, stressing his dedication to Huang Yue. He pressed Hai Xing to investigate who had caused him such a betrayal.

Meanwhile, Da Peng tried to explain to his current girlfriend, Li Xuemei, that he had already broken up with Wu Shiyi, which is why Li Xuemei was confused about Wu Shiyi's fury. Li Xuemei, asserting her integrity, warned Da Peng not to mess with her. Da Peng, in turn, claimed he had told Wu Shiyi about their breakup, but she wouldn't accept it, blaming his past for dating a female bodyguard.

Wu Shiyi, with her friend Qian Qian, was consumed by self-doubt, wondering if Da Peng's infidelity was her fault, especially since he had spoken of marriage just two days prior. Qian Qian firmly dismissed this, labeling Da Peng a "pure scumbag" for juggling marriage plans with Wu Shiyi and another woman.

Wu Shiyi confided in Qian Qian about her exhausting life: her three-year relationship had vanished, her father's debts were still unmanageable despite her draining her savings, and her declining physical stamina meant she couldn't take big jobs and faced customer complaints. She felt overwhelmed and on the verge of breaking down. Li Xuemei, undeterred by Da Peng's reluctance, insisted on going to his apartment. Da Peng, feeling guilty, couldn't stop her. However, Li Xuemei found nothing incriminating.

At his office, Hou Jue dramatically had a new, expensive ergonomic office chair delivered, boasting about its quality and comfort. His father, Hou Zhirong, immediately ordered him to remove it, stating that no one could break company rules by having special office equipment. Hou Jue grumbled about his discomfort with the standard chairs but ultimately complied with his father's command.

Wu Shiyi later arrived at Da Peng's apartment with a key, but found he had secured the door with an additional security chain. Da Peng frantically warned Li Xuemei inside to remain silent as he went to the door to deal with Wu Shiyi. Wu Shiyi demanded her "gold medal" back. Da Peng, fearing another physical altercation, refused to open the door fully but carefully slid the gold medal out through the gap, then shut the door without hesitation.

Wu Shiyi, though expecting this, was still enraged. Noticing a salesperson demonstrating security doors in the complex, she asked if it was possible to lock someone inside permanently. Upon hearing it was, she decided to buy a sturdy security door for Da Peng's apartment. Despite the salesperson's initial hesitation because Wu Shiyi's ID didn't match the address, a neighbor's casual greeting from Wu Shiyi convinced him to proceed.

After the new door was installed and locked, rendering those inside unable to exit without a key, Wu Shiyi took the keys, walked to a nearby body of water, and tossed them in, symbolically severing ties with her past. Inside, Da Peng and Li Xuemei were trapped and terrified, unsure what to do. Later, at a 4S dealership, Wu Shiyi approached Hou Jue to pay for his car's repairs.

The total was 3,800 yuan, but she could only pay 660 yuan upfront, promising to transfer the rest when she received her next month's salary, offering to calculate interest. Hou Jue, skeptical and suspecting a scam, demanded proof. Wu Shiyi then handed him her ID card, telling him to photograph it so he could sue her if she didn't pay. She then left abruptly. Shortly after, while Hou Jue was driving, Liu Tiehao's car rear-ended his.

Hou Jue wanted to take photos for the traffic police, but the other driver, Liu Tiehao, arrogantly knocked his phone away, boasting that he hadn't "had a good fight in years" after being released from jail. Hou Jue was no match for him. Wu Shiyi, who was initially observing the commotion, couldn't stand by any longer and intervened, fending off Liu Tiehao.

As police sirens grew louder, Liu Tiehao backed down, photographed Hou Jue, and challenged him to a one-on-one fight at Pier 5 the next day, warning him not to bring Wu Shiyi. Despite Wu Shiyi coming to his rescue, Hou Jue ungratefully told her she interfered at the wrong time, claiming he was about to win. He declared their debts settled, waiving her car repair costs, but insisted there was no need for them to ever see each other again.

Wu Shiyi simply stated, "Great." The incident quickly reached Manager Ma, who reported it to a furious Hou Zhirong. Manager Ma, aware of both their explosive tempers, feared a confrontation if Hou Zhirong spoke directly to Hou Jue. He quickly gathered information on Liu Tiehao, learning he was a recently released ex-convict who had targeted Hou Jue, demanding 100,000 yuan.

Hou Zhirong instructed Manager Ma to pay Liu Tiehao the money, specifically ensuring Liu Tiehao would be occupied collecting it at the scheduled time of the fight, far from Pier 5, to prevent him from encountering Hou Jue. Liu Tiehao took the money and left. However, Hou Jue, oblivious to this arrangement, showed up at Pier 5, eagerly anticipating the fight.

Wu Shiyi, worried he might get hurt, also arrived, only to mistakenly encounter the security personnel Hou Zhirong had dispatched. A misunderstanding ensued, leading to a brief fight between them. Hou Jue, exasperated, chased away the security team and scolded Wu Shiyi, telling her she shouldn't have come as she only embarrassed him. Wu Shiyi, seeing Hou Jue was fine, merely shrugged off his words, considering them even.

Unsatisfied, Liu Tiehao followed Manager Ma back to Zhirong Construction, noting the company's address. Shortly after, Hou Jue's home was vandalized; the words "Go to hell" were spray-painted in red on his floor-to-ceiling windows. Simultaneously, Hou Zhirong began receiving a stream of blackmail letters. It became clear that Hou Jue had angered two different groups: one openly extorting money, and another issuing veiled threats. Concerned for Hou Jue's safety, Hou Zhirong decided to hire a mature female bodyguard.

This would not only protect his son but also, hopefully, keep him out of trouble. He recalled Wu Shiyi, who had previously saved him from the hostage situation. Wu Shiyi accepted the three-month assignment to protect Hou Jue. The very next day, she began her new role as his assistant. Hou Jue was visibly stunned and dismayed to see her at the company.

He confronted her, telling her she was fired and to leave, but Wu Shiyi calmly stated it was her job, explaining that Hou Zhirong himself had hired her. Hou Jue immediately called his father, frustrated by this unexpected development.
