Lucky With You Episode 16 Recap
> Lucky With You Recap
Wu Shiyi and Hou Jue spent an evening drinking and conversing, sharing their thoughts openly. Wu Shiyi remarked that Hou Jue had an interesting soul. Flattered, Hou Jue then playfully boasted about himself, declaring his soul was incredibly interesting and that he was an "excellent man," not only good-looking but also possessing a captivating inner spirit. After their amusement park date, Hou Zhirong drove Qian Qian home. As they arrived, Qian Qian pointed out her apartment on the "15th floor."
Hou Zhirong expressed how happy he felt, remarking that he hadn't been this joyful in years, and took the opportunity to hold Qian Qian's hand. Qian Qian initially didn't resist, but later shyly pulled her hand back. He thanked Dr. Qian for spending the day with him, which she brushed off, playfully stating that "loneliness is a stubborn disease" and she was always available for house calls if he ever felt lonely again.
They sealed this understanding with a mutual "It's a deal." Hou Zhirong then made a request, asking if they could keep their "doctor-patient relationship" private for now, as he worried about complicating things further if other relationships got mixed in. Qian Qian interrupted, assuring him she understood and thanked him. However, she then made her own request: that he stop thanking her so much. Hou Zhirong readily promised to comply.
When he leaned in to kiss her goodbye, his seatbelt comically got in the way, making him comment on its effectiveness. Qian Qian then said it was late and she should head back, offering him a "good night." He replied with "good night" and "have a good dream." As she stepped out of the car, she affectionately called him "Old Man" and waved "Bye-bye." He responded, "Goodbye Girl," insisting on watching her go inside first.
After she entered her building, she looked back as his car drove away, again softly calling him "Old Man," her heart pounding. The next morning, Sister Zhang returned home with groceries, singing happily, only to be startled by the sight of Hou Jue and Wu Shiyi asleep on the living room floor. She immediately understood the situation and, with a knowing smile, told them to continue sleeping.
Wu Shiyi, mortified, quickly retreated to her room, feeling embarrassed about the previous night. Hou Jue attempted to explain to Sister Zhang that he had merely cooked a welcome meal for Wu Shiyi, and they had simply fallen asleep after a couple of drinks. Sister Zhang, however, was unconvinced, advising him to settle down and stop getting into trouble, making things worse with every explanation.
She also teased him about his "smelly" wine breath, urging him to shower and put on some cologne, adding that "smelly girls won't like it." Meanwhile, Lanqi visited the security company. After exchanging business cards with Mr. Zhao, he explained his hotel was opening in two months and he needed to hire a senior security expert to establish protocols and train staff. Lanqi explicitly stated he wanted to hire Wu Shiyi.
Mr. Zhao, though pleased by the recognition of his team member, regretfully informed Lanqi that Wu Shiyi was currently on an assignment, with her contract lasting over another month. Lanqi was surprised, having heard that Wu Shiyi had been dismissed by her previous employer. Mr. Zhao clarified it was a "little misunderstanding" and the client had asked her to return to work just "yesterday."
When asked how he knew about the initial dismissal, Lanqi revealed that he and Wu Shiyi were old classmates. Despite Mr. Zhao offering other candidates, Lanqi declined, saying he no longer needed their services for the time being. Separately, at her office, Xiao Min's colleagues complimented her "beautiful" appearance. Her boss, Ma Zong, messaged her, questioning her sudden change in attire. Xiao Min, annoyed, replied via message that she was dressed up "for a blind date!"
Wu Shiyi returned to Hou Jue's side at his establishment. Hou Jue called her a "doll" and teased her about her strength while she carried groceries. Hai Xing was overjoyed to see Wu Shiyi, embracing her and telling her how much he missed her. He exclaimed that with her back, he no longer felt bullied and could "walk sideways."
Hou Jue then explained to Wu Shiyi that he had brought her back because he couldn't let her be "wronged" and worried she might encounter someone more annoying than him if she worked elsewhere. He wanted to maintain his "first position" in her heart. They all toasted to her return. Hai Xing enthusiastically recalled a video of Wu Shiyi, calling her a "mysterious woman flying leg catching thief" and comparing her to "Yu Jiaolong," a name Wu Shiyi didn't recognize.
Qian Qian made preparations to pick up her family, including her parents, aunt, uncle, and cousin's family, from the North Station. Hou Zhirong, seeing her social media post, called her, teasingly calling her "small" while she called him "big." He offered to send a commercial car to pick up her large family, emphasizing how convenient it would be for everyone to travel together. Qian Qian initially declined, saying taxis and buses were convenient and she didn't want to cause trouble.
However, Hou Zhirong insisted, explaining that it was "just a car" and what truly mattered was her family's happiness. He promised not to deduct the cost from her coaching fee, stating, "I will be happy when I see you happy. . . Helping others is to make yourself happy." Qian Qian, touched by his sincerity, "reluctantly accepted." Upon meeting her family at the station, Qian Qian's mother immediately commented on how thin she was and urged her to gain weight.
Her family admired the spacious commercial car, asking if it was hers, which she clarified was borrowed from a friend. They began to speculate about her friend's identity, asking if it was a man and whether he was her boyfriend. Qian Qian firmly denied having a boyfriend, stating he was just a friend. Despite this, her aunt remarked that Qian Qian now had a "backer" in the big city.
The car ride took a turn when Qian Qian's father experienced motion sickness. She quickly stopped the car, worried he might vomit inside someone else's vehicle. Later, Qian Qian messaged Hou Zhirong, thanking him and stating, "Old man, my parents are very happy. If I am not dizzy, I will be dizzy by you." Hou Zhirong was in a remarkably good mood, greeting his employees cheerfully and even reminding one to eat breakfast.
He instructed his secretary to book a private room at the club for the evening. Back at Qian Qian's apartment, her family marvelled at the height of her building. Hai Xing was waiting downstairs when Qian Qian arrived with her family. He mentioned seeing her social media post about their arrival and timed his visit. He offered to host dinner at his restaurant with "special private dishes" to welcome them.
Qian Qian politely declined, explaining she already had plans, but offered to dine with him another time. She then released a balloon he had given her, telling him, "Do you know? There are some things, only let go, this is the beginning of a beautiful life." Hai Xing seemed confused, so she clarified, "Hai Xing, why don't you understand? Don't waste time on me, really. Meaningless. You. . . have a boyfriend."
She explained she had initially kept it secret to avoid upsetting him, but now she needed to confirm, "Yes, I have a boyfriend. Goodbye." Separately, Wu Shiyi received a phone call from a childhood friend who was getting married this weekend. The friend had sent an invitation to Wu Shiyi's old address and learned from Dapeng (Wu Shiyi's ex-boyfriend) that Wu Shiyi had moved out.
Upset by this, the friend insisted that Wu Shiyi "must" attend the wedding and "dress beautifully" to show Dapeng how well she was doing. Hou Jue overheard the conversation and also encouraged Wu Shiyi to go, arguing that she should go precisely because of the situation, to let Dapeng feel her strength and regret his actions.
He tried various reasons to persuade her, even offering to go with her, but Wu Shiyi, though listening, haughtily maintained she didn't want to go, feeling it would be awkward to see Dapeng. Later that evening, Qian Qian and her family were enjoying dinner in a private room. Her father expressed concern about the cost of the meal, but Qian Qian assured him it was a friend (Hou Zhirong) who had specially arranged the banquet to welcome them.
Her family praised the delicious food and her considerate friend. Her mother once again pressed Qian Qian to marry and have children, suggesting her friend seemed like a good match. Qian Qian deflected the conversation by offering her mother more food. Qian Qian messaged Hou Zhirong, "Great club, great dishes. Dizzy with happiness," to which he replied, "You will become more and more dizzy in the future."
Back at Qian Qian's small apartment, her family was packed in, finding it very crowded but lively. Her father, still tipsy from dinner, was climbing on furniture, prompting her mother and sister to warn him not to fall. Her brother-in-law offered to buy more liquor for her father and uncle, but her mother told him to clean up instead. They all decided to take a cheerful family photo together.
The next morning, a driver delivered a set of keys to Qian Qian, explaining that Hou Zhirong was offering his suburban villa for her and her family to stay in for as long as they wished. Her family was ecstatic, her father's hangover seemingly vanishing at the news. Qian Qian, feeling overwhelmed in front of her family, called Hou Zhirong. She exclaimed, "You lent me a car and now you lend me a villa."
Hou Zhirong dismissed her concerns, explaining that he and Hou Jue rarely used the villa, and it was better for a large family to stay in a spacious house than be cramped. He reiterated, "If you are really my friend, don't be so polite to me, okay?" He quickly ended the call, saying he had other matters to attend to.
Qian Qian thanked him, "Old man, thank you," and then watched her family excitedly gather their belongings to move into the villa. Hai Xing, still reeling from Qian Qian's rejection, remained in a state of sadness. On Saturday morning, Hou Jue took Wu Shiyi to Amy's styling studio, declaring his intention to give her a "major makeover." Wu Shiyi expressed doubts, saying it "is a little difficult."
Amy welcomed them warmly, complimenting Wu Shiyi's impressive racing skills from a previous event and asking her to teach her sometime. Hou Jue then handed Wu Shiyi over to Amy, trusting her to make Wu Shiyi "charming." He specifically instructed Lisa, another stylist, to bring a particular dress for Wu Shiyi to wear. While Amy began working on Wu Shiyi, Hou Jue paced around, unable to sit still despite being offered coffee.
Meanwhile, at his restaurant, Hai Xing's employee informed him that the Neighborhood Office required him to attend a fire drill conference at 10 AM. Still grumpy from his breakup, Hai Xing grumbled, "I haven't got rid of the fire yet." Misunderstanding his boss's frustration, the employee offered to buy him some "Niuhuang Qingxin pills" for his "anger." Hai Xing, annoyed by the misinterpretation, questioned his employee's understanding, who then awkwardly disappeared.
