Lin Xiangxiang awoke to find Gong Ming injured, which deeply concerned her. Gong Ming, however, was bewildered, repeatedly asking her where they were and who she was. Lin Xiangxiang recognized him as the "strange big brother" from the street and, noting his injury, remarked that she had initially thought their previous encounter was a dream. Gong Ming, equally perplexed, wondered if his last memory was a dream and questioned his surroundings.

As Lin Xiangxiang inquired about the assassin he had fought, she witnessed the dead man's body on the ground slowly vanish into thin air. Overwhelmed with fear, she fainted once more. Lin Xiangxiang later regained consciousness in the hospital, where Jin Jing and Xiaonan were with her. She excitedly recounted her extraordinary tale, detailing Gong Ming's ancient attire, the sword fight, and the assassin's mysterious disappearance.

However, neither Jin Jing nor Xiaonan believed her, with Xiaonan playfully dismissing it as a "Prince Charming" fantasy and assuring her that she seemed mentally sound. Jin Jing, meanwhile, was furious with Lin Xiangxiang for missing her crucial launch conference. After scolding her intensely for this significant misstep, Jin Jing left to handle the public relations crisis, leaving Lin Xiangxiang alone.

Elsewhere, at an event, Zhao Nana publicly disparaged Han Yufei for allegedly using his connections to secure Lin Xiangxiang's role in the drama. Han Yufei retorted, and the director, caught in the middle, found himself unable to intervene effectively. Nana then dramatically threatened to withdraw from the production if Lin Xiangxiang wasn't replaced, causing the director to feign illness.

Back in her hospital room, Lin Xiangxiang searched her bag for her mobile phone, but instead found a peculiar, dirty jade pendant that did not belong to her, deepening her confusion. Meanwhile, Gong Ming found himself transported back to the Western Han Dynasty, but oddly, Lin Xiangxiang's modern mobile phone was now in his possession.

Wang Mang faced severe reproaches from the powerful Wang clan elders for his reluctance to eliminate Gong Ming, reminding him of their family's unwavering support and influence, including elevating his uncle Wang Feng to Shangshu. The elders demanded that Wang Mang swiftly assassinate Gong Ming and ensure Zhao Feiyan was installed as Empress, threatening grave consequences should he fail to comply. Wang Mang asserted that Gong Ming was a political adversary that the Wang family was determined to eradicate.

Following the elders' decree, Zixiu subjected Ying Yue, Gong Ming's loyal female guard, to brutal torture in an attempt to extract information about his whereabouts. Wang Mang intervened, stopping Zixiu and angrily demanding to know if Zixiu obeyed him or the elders. After punishing Zixiu by having him dragged away, Wang Mang personally untied Ying Yue. Ying Yue, deeply worried, immediately asked about Gong Ming's safety.

Seeing her unwavering concern for Gong Ming, Wang Mang, disappointed, told her that Gong Ming's body had not been found, so he might still be alive, before leaving. Gong Ming was then inexplicably transported back to the modern era, still clad in his ancient robes, drawing stares and whispers from passersby. Overwhelmed, he collapsed in an underground passage.

At the hospital, Lin Xiangxiang was watching a news report when she saw footage of a horse, identical to Gong Ming's, running wildly through the city. This confirmed her earlier experience was real, not a dream. Her phone, which Gong Ming had, then rang in the passage where he lay unconscious. Two young girls who found him answered it.

Lin Xiangxiang rushed to Gong Ming, but their unusual appearances—she in a hospital gown, he in ancient attire—led a security guard to mistake them for mental patients. They hastily fled in Lin Xiangxiang’s car. Terrified by his first car ride, Gong Ming struggled with the door and seatbelt. He perceived the modern world as an "otherworld illusion," clinging to Lin Xiangxiang as his only familiar connection. He explained that he was from Chang'an of the Dahan (Han Dynasty).

Lin Xiangxiang, still finding it hard to fully believe, sarcastically asked if he meant he was from two thousand years ago. She then received a call from Jin Jing, who had tracked her down, but Lin Xiangxiang insisted she would handle her own problems. As they drove, Gong Ming further elaborated that he was unwillingly transported to the future whenever his life was in danger, and confirmed he had indeed killed an assassin during their initial encounter.

He then asked for his jade pendant back, reminding Lin Xiangxiang of its significance. Upon learning her role had been officially canceled, Lin Xiangxiang raced to the film set. She found Director Yang, who, after being startled by Gong Ming's unexpected appearance, reluctantly explained that Zhao Nana’s hostility made it impossible to re-cast her. He could only promise not to object if Nana herself agreed.

To explain Gong Ming's presence, Lin Xiangxiang concocted a story, introducing him as her eccentric distant cousin, a martial arts actor with "some mental issues." She then convinced him to get a modern haircut, despite his strong protests rooted in the Confucian principle of "Body, hair and skin are received from parents," which prohibits casually cutting one's hair. Gong Ming's confusion intensified as he observed women in short skirts, prompting Lin Xiangxiang to patiently explain modern customs.

He slowly began to accept the reality of his two-thousand-year time travel. When Lin Xiangxiang pressed him about how he traveled through time, Gong Ming reiterated that it occurred whenever his life was threatened. She then asked who was trying to kill him, to which he sighed and replied, "a confidant." A flashback revealed a young Wang Mang, falsely accused of stealing letter slips, being defended by a young Gong Ming, who exposed other students as the culprits.

The young Wang Mang, crying as he looked at their elementary education school, expressed a desire to leave, but Gong Ming reminded him of their shared commitment to the principles of self-cultivation and societal governance. Lin Xiangxiang later confronted Zhao Nana again, apologizing and earnestly pleading for another chance to play the role, emphasizing her profound love for acting.

Nana, however, remained cold and unyielding, criticizing Lin Xiangxiang for her unpunctuality and arguing that it disqualified her from being a good actress. As the tension escalated, Nana demanded that Lin Xiangxiang kneel to apologize. Lin Xiangxiang was outraged by the demeaning request and vehemently refused, condemning Nana's disrespectful and ill-mannered behavior. Their argument quickly devolved into a physical altercation.

Gong Ming, who had followed Lin Xiangxiang, intervened and sternly rebuked Nana, comparing her cruel actions to the tyrannical Zhao Feiyan, who "caused chaos in the court and harmed the imperial heir," and remarked that her heart was as ugly as her "strange" appearance.

Later, back in the car, a tearful Lin Xiangxiang confided in Gong Ming, revealing her hurt and anger upon learning that her role was due to connections, not her own merit, which had fueled her earlier impulsive actions. Despite her emotional distress, Lin Xiangxiang composed herself, resolving to return to the hospital to retrieve Gong Ming's jade pendant. Gong Ming praised her dignified composure, remarking that her straightforwardness embodied the "gentleman's way" as taught by Confucius. As Lin Xiangxiang drove away after retrieving the jade pendant, Gong Ming, now holding the artifact, abruptly vanished from the car, leaving Lin Xiangxiang screaming in terror.
