Gong Ming, who had just been saved from a car by Lin Xiangxiang, looked around in astonishment at the bewildering modern world, demanding to know where he was and who she was. Lin Xiangxiang, seeing his ancient attire, assumed he was an extra and told him, "I am Empress Xu, Empress Xu of the Dahan Dynasty." Both found each other quite peculiar.

Lin Xiangxiang, hearing his archaic speech, thought he was too immersed in his role and kindly offered to take him home. When she noticed the injury on his hand, she immediately went to call a taxi to take him to a hospital. Unsure of his surroundings and with his assassins now mysteriously absent, Gong Ming fled, fearing whether Lin Xiangxiang was friend or foe. He hid in a small alley, recalling the recent events and questioning if he had died.

He pulled out the jade pendant from his clothes, on which was inscribed, "Time changes, circumstances shift, encounter death and then live." Suddenly, with a flash of light, he was transported back to 16 BC, reappearing in the forest where he had been attacked. He wondered if it had all been a dream, but his sword wound was real, and the assassins were still pursuing him.

Lin Xiangxiang searched everywhere for Gong Ming but only found a blood-stained piece of his clothing. Later, her agent, Jin Jing, was overjoyed for Lin Xiangxiang, as she had finally landed a role with a name after five years in the industry. Han Yufei called Lin Xiangxiang, using the role of Empress Xu as leverage to demand a meeting. When they met, Han Yufei was visibly touched that Lin Xiangxiang still wore the bracelet he had given her.

Despite being a top star, he still harbored deep feelings for her. During their "rehearsal," Han Yufei, looking at his former lover, proposed that they start over and then tried to kiss her. Infuriated, Lin Xiangxiang pushed him into the swimming pool. Later, sitting on her sofa, Lin Xiangxiang collected the piece of Gong Ming's clothing, reflecting on their strange encounter.

Meanwhile, back in Western Han, Gong Ming sought refuge at his mentor's home to escape the Wang family's pursuit, instructing his mentor not to inform Ying Yue of his whereabouts. His mentor, concerned about Gong Ming's perilous situation, urged him to adapt to the changing circumstances. Gong Ming then presented Ying Yue's jade pendant, asking his mentor about its unusual properties and recounting his incredible time-traveling experience.

Hearing about his encounter with a woman, his mentor chuckled before asking about his relationship with Ying Yue. Gong Ming firmly stated that his bond with Ying Yue was akin to siblings, and that in a time of national crisis, personal affections should not take precedence. Wang Mang, upon learning that the assassination attempt on Gong Ming had failed, conceived a plan to use Ying Yue to draw Gong Ming out.

When Ying Yue discovered Gong Ming was missing, she confronted Wang Mang in a rage, demanding to know Gong Ming's whereabouts. Wang Mang, who secretly harbored feelings for Ying Yue but knew her eyes were only for Gong Ming, felt a bitter pang. Ying Yue accused Wang Mang of cruelly attacking Gong Ming, who was like a brother to him. Wang Mang responded that it was either Gong Ming's death or his own, forcing Ying Yue to make a choice.

Still holding her sword to him, Ying Yue refused to back down, prompting Wang Mang to order her capture, but with strict instructions not to harm her. As he watched her being led away, Wang Mang was pained, recalling their shared childhood memories. Upon learning of Ying Yue's capture, Gong Ming became gravely anxious. In the modern world, Jin Jing reminded Lin Xiangxiang that the famous actress Zhao Nana would be playing Zhao Feiyan in their new drama.

Excited to meet her idol, Lin Xiangxiang eagerly approached Zhao Nana, only to be coldly dismissed. Zhao Nana, with her haughty demeanor, sarcastically referred to Lin Xiangxiang as a "relation." It turned out that rumors were circulating that Lin Xiangxiang had secured the role through Han Yufei's connections. Lin Xiangxiang confronted Han Yufei, reaffirming that she would not reconcile with him and did not need his help to get roles.

She scorned his actions, expressing her desire to earn recognition through her own efforts. Disheartened, Lin Xiangxiang left the new drama's press conference and was walking in a park when she unexpectedly encountered Gong Ming and an assassin, this time on horseback. An assassin struck Lin Xiangxiang, knocking her unconscious. Gong Ming bravely fought the assassin, ultimately killing him with a sword, and then rushed to embrace the fallen Lin Xiangxiang.
