Love is in the Air Episode 24 (Ending) Recap
> Love is in the Air Recap
Witnessing Yiyi's selfless leap off the cliff, Fang Muye questioned why, despite his efforts to turn back time, their fates repeatedly led to such desperate moments. Recalling Yiyi's past protection, and her current resolve to protect him, Muye engaged his wings, sweeping down to rescue her from the fall.
However, the intense fire consumed his wings, and after ensuring Yiyi's safety with a final, tender kiss, Muye dissolved into a shower of feathers, a direct consequence of his forceful manipulation of time. Hu Grandpa, discovering the fallen feathers, grieved Muye's disappearance, sorrowfully calling him a "foolish boy" and desperately wishing for his return.
He then placed a lit lamp outside his house, explaining it was so Muye wouldn't trip on the stairs at night, and vowed to wait for him indefinitely. As time passed, a little girl named Dan Dan approached him, concerned he might catch a cold. She chatted with Hu Grandpa, expressing her fondness for the lamp and how its light made her feel warm.
Upon hearing this, Hu Grandpa was overjoyed, realizing Dan Dan could see the Guardian's lamp, confirming she was his next protection target. Muye awoke by a roadside, his body covered in severe scars. He questioned why he hadn't disappeared entirely and how he had ended up in such a disfigured state. As he wandered, he was accidentally hit by a car.
The driver, Meng Sizuo, a lawyer by profession, immediately expressed concern for Muye's injuries and offered assistance, even giving him a business card. Muye attempted to speak, calling out Sizuo's name and his own, but he found he had lost his voice. Sizuo, mistaking his silence for deafness, did not recognize him. Muye silently pondered how Sizuo could help him when he had lost everything, including his identity.
Meng Sizuo then took a detour, asking Muye to wait in the car while he picked something up from a friend. Muye secretly followed him, only to witness Miaomiao and another man, who was now regarded as "Fang Muye" by their friends. He overheard Sizuo and Miaomiao discussing their long-standing affections and a college bet to marry.
Muye realized the full extent of his altered reality: throwing the clock into the black hole had not only reversed time but had also erased his existence from this timeline. He had no name, no identity, and his body was gradually turning to ashes, leaving him as nothing more than a ghost, wandering and vulnerable to disappearing at any moment. He wished he had died on the cliff.
Later, Muye spotted Yiyi on the street, participating in a charity event where she was offering "100 hugs," wearing decorative wings. He approached her, silently pleading for her to remember him, but she, seeing him as a stranger, did not. Yiyi, as part of her event, offered Muye a hug, explaining that it was a natural way for humans to express emotions and encouraging him not to be shy. Muye was overwhelmed and retreated.
He internally reflected that this world held no meaning for him without her recognition, yet as long as his actions ensured her happiness and safety, he asked for nothing more. Despite his strong desire to hold her, he decided not to intrude on her life, acknowledging his non-existence in her reality and his own imminent disappearance. He then discreetly followed her. Muye followed Yiyi onto a bus. When she exited, she accidentally left her decorative wings behind.
Muye retrieved them and took them to her house. As he rang the doorbell, he heard a man's voice from inside. He quickly hung the wings on the doorknob and hid, only to see Chu Tianqi open the door, followed by Yiyi calling Tianqi to dinner. Muye was utterly devastated, believing this was the true outcome of his efforts: Yiyi had found happiness with someone else.
He resigned himself to this new reality, feeling that her happiness was all he ever wanted, and silently bade her farewell, believing his purpose was complete. Yiyi had become a radio host for "Sunflower Radio," where she shared stories and discussed her philosophy on finding different forms of happiness beyond a conventional nine-to-five existence. Meanwhile, Muye continued to wander, grappling with his lost identity and the constant threat of disappearing.
He bought a clown mask and rode a carousel, pondering the meaning of his desolate existence. Later, he heard Yiyi's broadcast and came across a gashapon machine similar to the mysterious "heaven's secret" ball. The candy store owner encouraged him to try it. Muye received an "unusual" candy, which miraculously restored his voice. He shared his tragic tale with the sympathetic owner, lamenting how his loved ones and friends no longer remembered him, and his identity had been usurped.
Despite his despair, he affirmed that he had no regrets, as long as they were happy, even if it meant dying alone. The extraordinary owner then used his superpowers to place a candy wrapper with a phone number in Muye's pocket, which Muye later found. Muye called the number, which turned out to be Yiyi's radio show hotline.
Speaking to Yiyi, he explained that he had had a wonderful day because of a girl whose smile had illuminated his life and helped him forgive the world. He confessed that she was not a fleeting whim but the "happy ending" he had always pursued. Though he acknowledged she might have forgotten him, he wanted her to know that being her Guardian, caring for her, and bringing her joy was the happiest experience of his life.
On the other end, Yiyi was deeply moved, tears streaming down her face as she listened, but Muye hung up before she could respond. Muye fell asleep by the street, only to wake up transformed. His scars were gone, his black clothes replaced by a clean white shirt, and a pair of full, visible wings had grown on his back.
The candy store owner, revealed to be a Guardian from a neighboring precinct specializing in "the field of love," appeared beside him. The owner congratulated Muye on becoming Guardian No. 3963333, explaining that Muye passed the final test by demonstrating a willingness to sacrifice for his ward in the fantasy world, thus unlocking his full potential and reactivating his Guardian gene.
The owner confessed that he intervened to help Muye, as he couldn't bear to see him punished for destroying the clock and reversing time. He praised Muye's kindness and love, playfully suggesting Muye transfer to his "love" precinct to earn "love credits," even offering extra credits for those who had experienced heartbreak, though Muye humorously dismissed the idea. The Guardian owner then immediately took Muye on a mission.
They observed Miaomiao and Meng Sizuo playfully bickering, with Miaomiao trying to get Sizuo to dance. The owner explained that Guardians like Muye, with invisible wings, are meant to spread the power of love and pursue their own happiness. Muye questioned how he could heal others when the one he loved had forgotten him and seemed not to need him.
The owner reminded him that "love is a miracle created by two people working together" and offered Muye "a little help" with his specialty in love, imbuing Muye with newfound courage. The air in Shanghai felt vibrant with love, a sentiment echoed by Yiyi on her radio show. She had put up a "For Rent" sign for a room in her apartment.
Muye, now filled with courage, rushed to her building, tore down the sign, and declared his intention to rent the room. Coincidentally, Chu Tianqi then walked by, greeting Yiyi and mentioning seeing her later. Muye cautiously asked Yiyi if Tianqi was her boyfriend or husband. Yiyi laughed and clarified that Tianqi was merely her cousin, a Berkeley professor temporarily staying with her while he conducted research.
Relieved and overjoyed by this clarification, Muye broke into a wide smile, and they both shared a happy, understanding look. After enduring numerous trials and transformations, both Muye and Yiyi were now taking confident steps towards their shared happiness, with everything seemingly returning to their most cherished moments.
