Love is in the Air Episode 1 Recap
> Love is in the Air Recap
Centuries ago, during the tumultuous late Ming Dynasty, an extraordinary event occurred in the secluded Peach Forest Village. A rare celestial phenomenon, a lunar eclipse, manifested as mysterious crop circles, bestowing the villagers with supernatural abilities such as telepathy, teleportation, and the Midas touch. To honor this divine blessing, the village leader crafted unique time tokens and urged the villagers to venture out, using their new powers to aid the common people.
However, those who succumbed to greed and misused their powers eventually lost them. Only those who genuinely used their abilities for good could pass them down through generations, becoming known as the revered Guardians. In a bustling modern city steeped in romance, 29-year-old Jiang Yiyi embraced a proudly single lifestyle. She aimed to prove that one could be content and free doing activities alone, from shopping and watching movies to singing karaoke and enjoying hotpot, without needing a partner.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old Fang Muye, a descendant of the Peach Forest villagers, was in his ninth year as an intern Guardian. His mission was to accumulate points on his Good Deeds Card by continuously performing benevolent acts, hoping to find his destined ward and ultimately awaken his ailing grandmother.
One day, after using his power to pause time and prevent an accident by retrieving a boy's wind-blown hat from the road, Fang Muye resumed time and briefly crossed paths with Jiang Yiyi. Later, Fang Muye visited an old mentor in a house filled with antique clocks—the very time tokens forged by his ancestors. He mused that his own alarm clock token must be inaccurate, frustrated that his daily good deeds hadn't yet secured his formal Guardian status.
The old man reminded him that his initial eagerness had waned over the past two years and urged him to reconnect with his purpose, emphasizing that his fated ward might be closer than he realized. Determined to complete his tasks, Fang Muye headed to a hospital to seek opportunities for good deeds. Coincidentally, Jiang Yiyi was also there, suffering from acute appendicitis and preparing for surgery alone. Doubled over in pain, she found herself without any friends to help.
A nurse handed her the consent form, informing her of a long wait and the serious risks, including shock. Overcome with fear, Jiang Yiyi began recording a heartfelt last message on her phone, addressing her family in case the surgery failed, and lamenting her lack of reliable friends. Dizziness soon overtook her, and she fainted, vaguely perceiving Fang Muye approaching her. As he prepared to help the unconscious Jiang Yiyi, Fang Muye felt a strange sense of familiarity.
His memory flashed back two years. Fang Muye was stuck in traffic, trying to locate his potential ward, when a distraught Jiang Yiyi, crying after a heated breakup with her boyfriend, abruptly jumped into his car, ordering him to drive. Through the window, she confronted her boyfriend, accusing him of hiding his plans to move to America for work. She declared her refusal to endure another long-distance relationship. After shaking off her ex's car, Yiyi demanded Muye pull over.
She realized her contact lenses had fallen out and, while searching, inadvertently got her hair tangled in the seatbelt. Frustrated, she impulsively ripped off her hair extensions, vowing to shed all the compromises she'd made for her former boyfriend. Fang Muye, observing her dramatic display, found her profoundly peculiar. Back in the present, Fang Muye returned to his mentor, questioning if the eccentric woman from two years ago, Jiang Yiyi, could truly be his guardian target.
The old man, sensing Muye's disbelief, offered a "heavenly hint" by means of a coin. The message revealed that his destined ward would possess three moles: one on the left ear, one on the sole of the foot, and one on the chest. Muye's mind raced back to the hospital, remembering a mole he'd seen on Yiyi's foot while caring for her after her surgery. He started to suspect she was indeed his target.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yiyi woke up in the hospital, learning that a "gentleman" had signed her surgery papers and stayed by her side all night. On Valentine's Day, Jiang Yiyi found herself dining alone at a restaurant when she accidentally dropped her phone under the table. After retrieving it and sitting back down, she looked up to see Fang Muye and his friend, Meng Sizhuo, seated opposite her.
Fang Muye, observing Yiyi as she swept her hair back, noticed a mole on her left ear. The restaurant owner announced a Valentine's Day pairing game, offering rewards for couples willing to kiss. Meng Sizhuo, a new business partner with Muye in the Mu-Xing Gym, introduced himself enthusiastically and attempted to kiss Jiang Yiyi as per the game's rules. However, Fang Muye swiftly stepped in front of Yiyi, physically blocking the unwanted kiss.
Returning home, Jiang Yiyi discovered her apartment in disarray, leading her to believe she had been robbed and prompting her to call the police. It turned out to be a misunderstanding; her roommate, Gigi, had abruptly moved out for "true love," leaving behind her dog, Gulu, and a chaotic mess. To make matters worse, the water supply to her apartment was suddenly cut off.
Desperate for a shower, Yiyi remembered the newly opened Mu-Xing Gym, which operated 24 hours a day. As she emerged from the shower wrapped in a towel, she was startled to find Fang Muye standing by the changing room door. She stumbled, and as Muye caught her, he discreetly noticed a mole on her chest. Soon after, Jiang Yiyi received a call from her landlord informing her of an upcoming rent increase.
She decided to find a roommate to share expenses. Having now confirmed all three moles, Fang Muye was certain Jiang Yiyi was his destined ward. To expedite his Guardian mission and help his grandmother, he resolved to become Yiyi's new roommate. Yiyi posted an advertisement specifically seeking a female roommate, explicitly stating no males.
However, Fang Muye covertly used his powers to transform her meticulously written ad into a blank sheet of paper, then boldly arrived at her doorstep to view the room. That evening, a sudden thunderstorm caused a power outage. Terrified by the darkness, Yiyi impulsively agreed to let Muye move in. Muye, under the pretense of using the restroom, secretly used his powers to restore the lights, but was immediately startled by the sight of Gulu, Yiyi's dog.
It was an unspoken rule among Peach Forest descendants that they could not approach dogs due to the animals' keen sense of smell, which could detect their unusual scent. At her workplace, Lazy Fella Company, Jiang Yiyi presented her innovative "Smart Toilet" concept during a meeting. However, her new colleague, Angel, coincidentally proposed a similar "Super Smart Health Consultant" idea, which the new manager, Vivian, favored due to Angel's connections.
Yiyi then attempted to pitch her "Super Sports Clothes" project, but Vivian dismissed it as incomplete and lacking sufficient market research data. Later that day, the company held a celebratory gathering at a bar to welcome Angel. A tipsy Jiang Yiyi, witnessing a girl being harassed, attempted to intervene but stumbled awkwardly. Fang Muye, who was also at the bar with Meng Sizhuo, quickly came to her rescue, declaring to the surprised onlookers that Jiang Yiyi was now his responsibility.
