Love is in the Air Recap
Episode 1 Recap
Centuries ago, during the tumultuous late Ming Dynasty, an extraordinary event occurred in the secluded Peach Forest Village. A rare celestial phenomenon, a lunar eclipse, manifested as mysterious crop circles, bestowing the villagers with supernatural abilities such as telepathy, teleportation, and the Midas touch. To honor this divine blessing, the village leader crafted unique time tokens and urged the villagers to venture out, using their new powers to aid the common people.
However, those who succumbed to greed and misused their powers eventually lost them. Only those who genuinely used their abilities for good could pass them down through generations, becoming known as the revered Guardians. In a bustling modern city steeped in romance, 29-year-old Jiang Yiyi embraced a proudly single lifestyle. She aimed to prove that one could be content and free doing activities alone, from shopping and watching movies to singing karaoke and enjoying hotpot, without needing a partner.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old Fang Muye, a descendant of the Peach Forest villagers, was in his ninth year as an intern Guardian. His mission was to accumulate points on his Good Deeds Card by continuously performing benevolent acts, hoping to find his destined ward and ultimately awaken his ailing grandmother.
One day, after using his power to pause time and prevent an accident by retrieving a boy's wind-blown hat from the road, Fang Muye resumed time and briefly crossed paths with Jiang Yiyi. Later, Fang Muye visited an old mentor in a house filled with antique clocks—the very time tokens forged by his ancestors. He mused that his own alarm clock token must be inaccurate, frustrated that his daily good deeds hadn't yet secured his formal Guardian status.
The old man reminded him that his initial eagerness had waned over the past two years and urged him to reconnect with his purpose, emphasizing that his fated ward might be closer than he realized. Determined to complete his tasks, Fang Muye headed to a hospital to seek opportunities for good deeds. Coincidentally, Jiang Yiyi was also there, suffering from acute appendicitis and preparing for surgery alone. Doubled over in pain, she found herself without any friends to help.
A nurse handed her the consent form, informing her of a long wait and the serious risks, including shock. Overcome with fear, Jiang Yiyi began recording a heartfelt last message on her phone, addressing her family in case the surgery failed, and lamenting her lack of reliable friends. Dizziness soon overtook her, and she fainted, vaguely perceiving Fang Muye approaching her. As he prepared to help the unconscious Jiang Yiyi, Fang Muye felt a strange sense of familiarity.
His memory flashed back two years. Fang Muye was stuck in traffic, trying to locate his potential ward, when a distraught Jiang Yiyi, crying after a heated breakup with her boyfriend, abruptly jumped into his car, ordering him to drive. Through the window, she confronted her boyfriend, accusing him of hiding his plans to move to America for work. She declared her refusal to endure another long-distance relationship. After shaking off her ex's car, Yiyi demanded Muye pull over.
She realized her contact lenses had fallen out and, while searching, inadvertently got her hair tangled in the seatbelt. Frustrated, she impulsively ripped off her hair extensions, vowing to shed all the compromises she'd made for her former boyfriend. Fang Muye, observing her dramatic display, found her profoundly peculiar. Back in the present, Fang Muye returned to his mentor, questioning if the eccentric woman from two years ago, Jiang Yiyi, could truly be his guardian target.
The old man, sensing Muye's disbelief, offered a "heavenly hint" by means of a coin. The message revealed that his destined ward would possess three moles: one on the left ear, one on the sole of the foot, and one on the chest. Muye's mind raced back to the hospital, remembering a mole he'd seen on Yiyi's foot while caring for her after her surgery. He started to suspect she was indeed his target.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yiyi woke up in the hospital, learning that a "gentleman" had signed her surgery papers and stayed by her side all night. On Valentine's Day, Jiang Yiyi found herself dining alone at a restaurant when she accidentally dropped her phone under the table. After retrieving it and sitting back down, she looked up to see Fang Muye and his friend, Meng Sizhuo, seated opposite her.
Fang Muye, observing Yiyi as she swept her hair back, noticed a mole on her left ear. The restaurant owner announced a Valentine's Day pairing game, offering rewards for couples willing to kiss. Meng Sizhuo, a new business partner with Muye in the Mu-Xing Gym, introduced himself enthusiastically and attempted to kiss Jiang Yiyi as per the game's rules. However, Fang Muye swiftly stepped in front of Yiyi, physically blocking the unwanted kiss.
Returning home, Jiang Yiyi discovered her apartment in disarray, leading her to believe she had been robbed and prompting her to call the police. It turned out to be a misunderstanding; her roommate, Gigi, had abruptly moved out for "true love," leaving behind her dog, Gulu, and a chaotic mess. To make matters worse, the water supply to her apartment was suddenly cut off.
Desperate for a shower, Yiyi remembered the newly opened Mu-Xing Gym, which operated 24 hours a day. As she emerged from the shower wrapped in a towel, she was startled to find Fang Muye standing by the changing room door. She stumbled, and as Muye caught her, he discreetly noticed a mole on her chest. Soon after, Jiang Yiyi received a call from her landlord informing her of an upcoming rent increase.
She decided to find a roommate to share expenses. Having now confirmed all three moles, Fang Muye was certain Jiang Yiyi was his destined ward. To expedite his Guardian mission and help his grandmother, he resolved to become Yiyi's new roommate. Yiyi posted an advertisement specifically seeking a female roommate, explicitly stating no males.
However, Fang Muye covertly used his powers to transform her meticulously written ad into a blank sheet of paper, then boldly arrived at her doorstep to view the room. That evening, a sudden thunderstorm caused a power outage. Terrified by the darkness, Yiyi impulsively agreed to let Muye move in. Muye, under the pretense of using the restroom, secretly used his powers to restore the lights, but was immediately startled by the sight of Gulu, Yiyi's dog.
It was an unspoken rule among Peach Forest descendants that they could not approach dogs due to the animals' keen sense of smell, which could detect their unusual scent. At her workplace, Lazy Fella Company, Jiang Yiyi presented her innovative "Smart Toilet" concept during a meeting. However, her new colleague, Angel, coincidentally proposed a similar "Super Smart Health Consultant" idea, which the new manager, Vivian, favored due to Angel's connections.
Yiyi then attempted to pitch her "Super Sports Clothes" project, but Vivian dismissed it as incomplete and lacking sufficient market research data. Later that day, the company held a celebratory gathering at a bar to welcome Angel. A tipsy Jiang Yiyi, witnessing a girl being harassed, attempted to intervene but stumbled awkwardly. Fang Muye, who was also at the bar with Meng Sizhuo, quickly came to her rescue, declaring to the surprised onlookers that Jiang Yiyi was now his responsibility.
Episode 2 Recap
Fang Muye recalled a childhood fire where his grandmother was injured and fell into a coma while saving him. To awaken her, he agreed to an old man's request to undergo advanced Guardian training, which granted him superpowers. He prayed that his new guardian object would truly help him fulfill this mission. Having moved into Jiang Yiyi's apartment, Muye was greeted by Yiyi, who had stayed up all night drafting a 108-page cohabitation agreement.
She presented it to him with breakfast, insisting he adhere to its numerous rules, especially not touching her personal belongings or any tableware. After Yiyi left for work, Muye explored the apartment, discovering expired food in the refrigerator and lamenting the mess. He wondered if he could protect someone else instead. Meanwhile, Yiyi, at her office, used a hidden camera she claimed was for her dog Gulu, to monitor Muye.
She was both amused and impressed by him, finding him a talented, handsome, and refined gentleman. At her company, Yiyi was confronted by Vivian, who hinted that her position was due to her former boyfriend, Chu Tianqi, a company shareholder. Yiyi firmly stated she had broken up with Chu Tianqi long ago and earned her achievements through her own hard work. Vivian then revealed she had pitched Yiyi’s "super-powered sportswear" project to a sports company manager, who was very interested.
Vivian urged Yiyi to prove her capabilities. Eager to succeed, Yiyi went to Muxing Gym for market research. Muye and Meng Sizuo were struggling to find suitable coaches there. During her research, Yiyi spotted Muye, who was giving a fitness class, and later asked for his help getting down from a machine. Their longtime friend, Chen Miaomiao, arrived from Beijing, having resigned from a high-tech company to help Muye and Sizuo run the gym.
Over dinner, Sizuo teased Muye about his new female roommate, leading Miaomiao to mistakenly assume Muye finally had a girlfriend. Muye clarified that the roommate was not a girlfriend but "someone very important" he had spoken of in high school—a person he needed to find to achieve a significant life goal. Miaomiao also defended a restaurant employee from a rude customer, showing her righteous character.
Yiyi asked Muye to use his gym resources to test her "super-powered sportswear" on the market. She explained that career success brought her happiness. Muye agreed to help on one condition: Yiyi had to clean her messy apartment. He declared he was "allergic to untidiness" and couldn't help her find happiness if her home remained chaotic. While cleaning, Yiyi discovered a box filled with "love memories" from Chu Tianqi, which she couldn't bring herself to discard.
Later, during a video call with her friend Zhizhi, Yiyi mentioned the box. Zhizhi urged her to let go of the past and playfully suggested Muye was a "gift from the Heavens." Yiyi reminisced about her college romance with Chu Tianqi and the engagement ring he had given her. Feeling a mix of bitterness that he never proposed marriage, she impulsively tossed the ring into the trash. Soon after, Gulu fell ill with gastroenteritis.
Muye, despite being severely allergic to dogs, bravely carried Gulu to the veterinary hospital because the elevator was under repair. At the hospital, the vet found that Gulu had swallowed several items, including Yiyi's engagement ring, which was retrieved after surgery. Muye suffered a severe allergic reaction, with his neck turning red and nose bleeding, but insisted he was fine. Yiyi thanked him for saving Gulu. The recovered ring brought back more memories for Yiyi.
She recalled moving to Shanghai with Chu Tianqi five years prior for his career. Two years later, they broke up when he had to move to America, a separation she couldn't endure after years of his frequent relocations for promotions. At the airport, she had wanted to return the ring but couldn't remove it. Now, trying it on again, she found her finger had swollen, and the ring was stuck.
That night, Yiyi dreamt that Gulu dragged her, disheveled, to an embarrassing reunion with Chu Tianqi. She awoke startled. Muye had prepared breakfast for them, and Yiyi questioned him about bumping into an ex. Muye, who had never been in a relationship, stated that if one has truly moved on, an ex's opinion shouldn't matter. Yiyi scoffed, saying he couldn't understand the pain of heartbreak, playfully calling him a "monk."
Muye then unexpectedly leaned in close, as if to kiss her, causing Yiyi to quickly retreat to the kitchen. Later, at the Muxing Gym, Miaomiao showed old photos of herself, Muye, and Sizhuo to an employee, Xiaoxi, reminiscing about their decade-long friendship. She recalled a time during their school days when they were playing in the street and a car almost hit them. Sizhuo had shielded Miaomiao, but the car mysteriously vanished.
Meng Sizhuo then appeared, interrupting her thoughts by showing off his muscles, and playfully teased her about having had a crush on him, which Miaomiao denied. Back at work, Vivian assigned Yiyi a critical project involving a difficult long-term client, instructing her to use "every measure necessary" to secure it and warning her not to fail. A colleague suggested that Vivian herself had used her "best assets" in her youth to win clients, making Yiyi wonder how she could compete.
At home, Yiyi fretted over the project. Muye asked if the clients' happiness would make her happy, and she confirmed. Determined to help, Muye secretly ordered various cosmetics, clothes, and shoes, having them delivered anonymously to Yiyi. Puzzled but accepting the gifts, Yiyi dressed elegantly for her presentation.
During the meeting, as she took off her high heels to demonstrate the fitness equipment, she lost her balance and stumbled directly into the arms of Chu Tianqi, who had just entered the room. Her awkward dream had indeed come true.
Episode 3 Recap
Chu Tianqi returned from the United States and introduced himself at a company meeting. Jiang Yiyi observed that he looked even more refined after two years, and while she still harbored a desire to surpass him, she also acknowledged the many beautiful memories they shared. Later, as Yiyi waited for an elevator, Chu Tianqi's secretary informed him that his lunch meeting was canceled. Seizing the opportunity, Chu Tianqi invited Yiyi to lunch.
However, Yiyi had already made plans to have lunch with Fang Muye. At that moment, Muye, who had sought dating advice from Meng Sizhuo – recommending a romantic, not-too-gaudy restaurant and a nice car (definitely not his "military vehicle") – was outside the company building, driving a borrowed BMW. Yiyi attempted to decline Chu Tianqi's invitation, but he was insistent and made all the arrangements, seemingly ignoring her prior engagement.
Yiyi reluctantly agreed and sent a message to Muye, apologizing and stating she had extra work that required her to eat during a meeting. Shortly after, Muye, still waiting outside, saw Yiyi emerge from the building with Chu Tianqi. As they walked, Yiyi nearly stumbled, but Chu Tianqi swiftly caught her by the waist. While Chu Tianqi was distracted by a phone call from the States, Yiyi secretly wished she could back out.
Muye, who was nearby and overheard Yiyi's desire to back out, quickly stepped in. He pretended to be Chu Tianqi's secretary, offering to drive them to the restaurant. Once seated at the restaurant, Muye joined them at a nearby table. Yiyi excused herself to the restroom, and Muye followed. She confronted him, asking why he was there. Muye explained he had been hungry all morning, waiting for her lunch invitation.
Yiyi, exasperated, agreed he could eat there, and she would pay, but he absolutely could not disturb her and Chu Tianqi. During the meal, Yiyi was so preoccupied with Muye that she accidentally ate green onions, a food she previously disliked. When Chu Tianqi noticed, she simply stated that "people change." He then tried to inquire about her current life, but Yiyi was not receptive.
Chu Tianqi hinted that they might "give it another shot" and pointed out that she was still wearing the engagement ring, which Yiyi had completely forgotten to take off. Suddenly, an old schoolmate walked into the restaurant and greeted them. She expressed surprise that Yiyi and Chu Tianqi were still together after "ten years," recalling that Chu Tianqi had once asked her to bring a 50th-anniversary edition Italian salon perfume for Yiyi, which was returned because Yiyi had moved.
The schoolmate then recalled that Chu Tianqi had once gotten Yiyi a scented candle from the same place, which had made her very excited. The schoolmate then urged them to inform their alumni group when they eventually got married. Chu Tianqi, without refuting, assured her they would make sure everyone knew. At Lazy Fun, Vivian announced that Angi's "Super Smart Health Consultant" project had successfully signed a final contract.
She also revealed that due to Angi's excellent performance during her internship, she was being promoted to Deputy Innovation Director, a role that would see her manage a different team than Jiang Yiyi. Colleagues congratulated Angi, some whispering about having two Deputy Innovation Directors and who to follow, noting that Yiyi had been aiming for the Director position. Angi invited everyone out for a celebration dinner, but Yiyi declined, citing other plans.
Later, in the tea room, Angi approached Yiyi and gave her an invitation to the exclusive Gold Coast Club, a private club invested in by Angi's mother. Angi suggested Yiyi could meet some valuable contacts from the advertising industry there. Jiang Yiyi went to the luxurious Gold Coast Club, impressed by its opulent facilities.
Angi shared that her privileged upbringing—attending golf with her father after school and traveling to Africa for safaris or to Southern European islands during holidays—meant her schedule often differed from other children, making it difficult to form friendships. She expressed her happiness about joining Lazy Fun and meeting Yiyi, stating she felt she had learned more there than in college and had decided to stay in the country to achieve significant goals.
Yiyi, feeling overwhelmed by Angi's combined advantages and ambition, secretly messaged Fang Muye, lamenting the vast differences in their lives and feeling like she had no chance against such a formidable rival. Muye replied, telling her not to focus on superficial things. Yiyi then asked Angi about a butterfly tattoo she had noticed earlier.
Angi explained that people often perceived her as a sweet girl, but she secretly harbored adventurous thoughts and wanted to do something special for the man she loved. She described the butterfly tattoo as symbolizing the brave pursuit of true love and serving as a reminder to herself to be better, to be worthy of standing by her loved one who appreciates her positive attitude. Yiyi, however, remained preoccupied with her competitive anxieties.
Back home, Jiang Yiyi struggled to make progress on her design work, growing increasingly frustrated. She tried to reach out to Zhizhi, but felt neglected because Zhizhi was absorbed in her own relationship. Yiyi reflected on her past with Chu Tianqi, realizing she too had once been similarly consumed by love. Despite telling herself to stop thinking about him, she couldn't resist scrolling through his social media, seeing posts about "profound theories" and "correct strategies."
She noted his continuous ascent over the past two years, while she felt stagnant. Recalling Chu Tianqi's ambiguous remark at the restaurant about announcing their marriage, Yiyi decided she needed to talk to him directly to clarify their relationship. However, upon arriving at his place, she was heartbroken to see him with another woman. Devastated, Yiyi ran aimlessly in the pouring rain, condemning herself for her weakness and inability to let go of the past.
She eventually removed her high heels and collapsed onto the ground, sobbing. Fang Muye, who had followed her, approached, carrying her shoes. He tried to console her, suggesting she either pursue Chu Tianqi to win him back or stop dwelling on him and move on to find new happiness, urging her not to waste her life. Yiyi, however, was inconsolable and defiantly threw her shoes, telling Muye to pick them up again if he liked picking things up.
Patiently, Muye retrieved the shoes, helped her put them back on, and gently assured her that "the rain will eventually stop," implying that her sorrow would also pass, having heard her heartbroken thoughts. Returning home, Yiyi was despondent, drinking coffee with salt and showing no interest in eating or anything else.
At Muxing Gym, Fang Muye confided in Mr. Hu, his guardian, about his exhaustion from worrying about Yiyi, describing her as a "time bomb" whose unpredictable moods left him feeling helpless. Mr. Hu interpreted Muye's distress as a positive sign, indicating he was truly invested. He reminded Muye that it was currently the "forbidden month" for divine power users, during which they must not use their abilities.
Muye then took Mr. Hu to a quiet location for a month of recuperation. Meanwhile, at home, Jiang Yiyi continued to work on her self-invented robotic arm, but her attempts repeatedly failed, leaving her apartment in disarray. She reflected on how the robotic arm had once won her an award, a testament to her past as a "little inventor," and tried to believe in it again.
When Muye returned, Yiyi demonstrated the robotic arm, but in a clumsy movement, she accidentally spilled red wine on Muye's pristine white shoes. Muye's scolding sent Yiyi retreating into the bathroom, where she broke down. She cried, lamenting her failures in both love and career, feeling too tired to stand up again, and desperately wishing for a shoulder to lean on, to find the strength to carry on. Muye, having heard her heartbroken thoughts from outside the bathroom, embraced her tightly as she emerged, her tears now wiped away.
Episode 4 Recap
After Fang Muye embraced Jiang Yiyi and apologized for his attitude, assuring her she would overcome her difficulties, he reflected silently on his own racing heartbeat. The next morning, Jiang Yiyi woke up, still feeling unsettled by the hug. She wondered if Fang Muye had a crush on her, but quickly dismissed the thought, convincing herself it was merely a polite, brotherly gesture, similar to how Westerners greet each other.
While Jiang Yiyi was in the kitchen scrubbing Fang Muye’s sneakers, which she had stained with red wine, Fang Muye emerged from his room. He asked her to wash the shirt she had cried on as well, jokingly telling her not to ruin it like she did his shoes. He then shared an exciting idea: inspired by computer animation’s motion-capture systems, he believed he could program a similar system to enhance the control of her robotic arm.
He had already rented equipment from an animation company and suggested they go to the gym to test it. Jiang Yiyi, surprised by his expertise, agreed. At the gym, Fang Muye guided Jiang Yiyi through simple movements to record them for the robotic arm. Jiang Yiyi became visibly excited watching her motions captured on screen, reminding Fang Muye of a delighted child. She began to dance exuberantly, only to get tangled in the equipment’s wires.
As Fang Muye leaned in to help her untangle, their close proximity was noticed by Miaomiao, who had just arrived looking for Fang Muye. Miaomiao, appearing displeased, quickly left, apologizing for interrupting them. Later, Meng Sizuo tried to cheer Miaomiao up by talking about robotic arms, which only seemed to make her more upset. Confused, Meng Sizuo asked fellow fitness coach Ma Yun why Miaomiao was angry.
Ma Yun retorted that Meng Sizuo simply didn’t understand women and suggested he was afraid to pursue Miaomiao because he feared losing their friendship if he failed. Back home, Jiang Yiyi and Fang Muye diligently researched the robotic arm. Jiang Yiyi grew suspicious that Fang Muye was merely a fitness coach given his technical insights.
She looked up his profile online, discovering he was a highly educated engineer who had graduated from MIT, majored in Life Sciences, and minored in Electronic Engineering. He had even founded a software company that was later acquired. Realizing his extensive background, Jiang Yiyi considered asking him to be her research partner to accelerate the success of her robotic arm project. That night, Fang Muye dreamt of Jiang Yiyi achieving her dreams and thanking him as her partner.
The dream then shifted, showing her falling into a bottomless abyss. He awoke abruptly to the sound of breaking glass. Rushing to her, he found Jiang Yiyi had cut her finger. He carefully bandaged the wound, reminding her not to get it wet to prevent infection. Watching him tend to her with such concern, Jiang Yiyi couldn't help but compare his attentiveness to Chu Tianqi’s past indifference, wondering if she had made the wrong choices in love.
While out shopping, Jiang Yiyi passed a Nike store and remembered Fang Muye’s stained shoes. She decided to buy him a new pair. Inside, she spotted a limited-edition Fujiwara and Air Jordan collaboration sneaker. As she pondered her purchase, another customer tried to claim the last pair. In a fit of pique, Jiang Yiyi quickly paid for the shoes, declaring loudly that they were for her roommate.
Later, at her company, Jiang Yiyi accidentally spilled a liquid reagent onto her bandaged finger. With no proper bandages available, she improvised by using a corn plaster given by a colleague. Returning home, Fang Muye found Jiang Yiyi passed out on the sofa with a fever, her wound inflamed. He immediately rushed her to the hospital. After her fever subsided, Jiang Yiyi woke up.
Fang Muye brought her chicken soup, but she jokingly complained that he hadn't brought flowers, explaining how their beauty and fragrance could cheer up a patient in a sterile hospital. While Fang Muye went to handle her discharge, Jiang Yiyi watched a news report on the hospital television. It featured former national badminton player Shi Liang signing a contract with Rococo Smartwatch, a company launching a high-tech watch designed to aid patients with nerve damage.
Jiang Yiyi recalled Shi Liang as her former neighbor and a kind, gentlemanly man whose life had been tragically altered by a car accident. She then saw Shi Liang’s daughter, Dandan, crying alone in the hallway. As Jiang Yiyi comforted Dandan, she overheard a heated argument from Shi Liang’s hospital room, where his wife, Shuyi, accused him of being a tool for money and revealed that Shi Liang resented the Rococo experiment.
Shi Liang was then forcibly restrained by a nurse for an injection, shouting his refusal for treatment. Shi Liang’s wife, Shuyi, emerged from the room, ignored Jiang Yiyi, and swiftly left with Dandan. Back at home, Jiang Yiyi researched Rococo online, discovering that its CEO, Peter Chen, was her childhood idol. She also learned that Shi Liang's car accident had caused severe nerve damage to his right arm, likely ending his career.
A new idea sparked in her mind: perhaps her robotic arm, which operated on mechanical controls rather than nerve signals, could offer hope to Shi Liang. She worked tirelessly on her research until she fell asleep at her desk, prompting Fang Muye to gently carry her to her room.
The next morning, Jiang Yiyi, still recovering from her fever, insisted Fang Muye accompany her on an outing, hinting that he would need to take care of her if she passed out. Meanwhile, at Mu-Xing Gym, a new client wanted to lose a significant amount of weight in three months. While other coaches found excuses to avoid taking her on, Ma Yun, with her characteristic enthusiasm, stepped forward to become her personal coach, warmly assuring the client of her potential.
Jiang Yiyi led Fang Muye to Shi Liang's old neighborhood. Standing there, she was swept by a wave of nostalgia, remembering her past life with Chu Tianqi in the same area. She commented on the neighborhood's distance from the city, noting the two-hour bus ride, which served as a subtle reminder of her old life. They soon found Dandan playing by herself, and joined her to fold paper cranes.
Dandan made a wish for her father to recover and for her mother to be home more, then thoughtfully made a wish for Jiang Yiyi, hoping "Tianqi can be with you more." This reignited Jiang Yiyi’s memories of Chu Tianqi, including an occasion where he had failed to introduce her to guests, making her feel unimportant. Fang Muye, observing her, pointed out that she had come here not for Shi Liang, but to revisit old memories.
Feeling understood but also exposed, Jiang Yiyi angrily retorted, accusing him of being upset about the drive and declared she would take the two-hour bus ride home alone. Fang Muye, with a sarcastic remark about her enjoying her memories, left her to it. Fang Muye returned to the gym, frustrated and agitated, and began furiously punching a bag held by Meng Sizuo.
He accidentally struck Meng Sizuo in the face, leading to a brief, humorous spat where Meng Sizuo accused him of trying to end their friendship. Fang Muye, feeling slightly better after his outburst, then received unsolicited relationship advice from Meng Sizuo, who recommended a book on love. Back home, Fang Muye grew worried about Jiang Yiyi's late return and sent her a flurry of text messages. However, Jiang Yiyi's phone had died, and her bus had broken down midway.
Stranded without cash or a working phone, she eventually found a street vendor and borrowed a charger. She called Fang Muye, explaining her predicament, her dead phone, lack of money, and a sprained ankle from her high heels, noting she was about five kilometers from home. Upon hearing this, Fang Muye instantly appeared beside her, using his power. He gently helped her onto his back, and they bickered playfully as he carried her home. As Jiang Yiyi finally drifted to sleep on his back, Fang Muye, having used his forbidden powers during the "forbidden month," suffered a nosebleed.
Episode 5 Recap
Fang Muye, weakened from using his powers during the forbidden month, collapsed after carrying Jiang Yiyi home. While unconscious, he dreamt of Yiyi covered in blood. Upon waking, he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder. Soon after, he received a celestial message, realizing he had entered the primary stage of his Guardian training, which meant his Guardian's Wings would be awakened.
The message reminded him that his training should be fully focused on his ward's welfare, and that the wings would begin to stir when an exclusive bond was established between them. The next morning, Yiyi video-called Muye from the living room, complaining that her feet were red and swollen from being left in a miserable state the previous night, and demanded he make her an elaborate breakfast.
As Muye prepared the meal shirtless, Yiyi remarked that while he looked alright, she preferred men in suits, like the celebrity You You she saw in a magazine, finding it more elegant. She then gave Muye a pair of limited-edition sneakers she'd bought, explaining it was a reward for carrying her home. Muye feigned disinterest, calling them common, but quickly snatched them back when Yiyi threatened to reclaim the expensive, hard-to-find shoes, which she had fought "some fat girl" for.
At work, Vivian, the company director, discussed Yiyi's sportswear plan. She told Yiyi that Angel had proposed excellent ideas, such as expanding sportswear to include activities like rock climbing and hiking, and decided to assign Angel to assist Yiyi with the project, despite Yiyi's protests. Later, when Angel came to talk about the plan, she noticed Yiyi looking at horoscopes. Angel asked Yiyi to check the daily forecast for Capricorns, her boyfriend's sign.
The reading suggested stagnation in relationships, a new work opportunity, but also potential health issues. Yiyi, mentioning her own "rough experiences" with Capricorns, then read that Capricorns prefer independent, refined, traditional, and mature partners over "cuddly and gentle" ones, which Angel believed fit her. Angel then invited Yiyi to a climbing gym that weekend to find inspiration for new sportswear elements. Yiyi visited the Mu-Xing Gym to observe, where she overheard someone criticizing a conservative sportswear design.
Meng Sizuo approached her, explaining that for female consumers, sportswear appeal often comes down to "looking sexy," which he defined as "eye-grabbing, tight, curvy, streamlined, playful, naughty, and defiant." Muye then introduced Yiyi to Miaomiao, a long-time friend, as his new roommate who was designing sportswear and needed people to try out samples. Miaomiao, visibly displeased by the "roommate" revelation, curtly refused to help and walked away. Meng Sizuo, sensing her anger, followed her.
Meanwhile, a fitness magazine invited badminton champion You You and Muye for a photoshoot. You You immediately noticed and praised Muye's new shoes, mentioning he had the same pair in red. Before the shoot, You You engaged in a live stream with his fans. During a break, You You spotted wing-like marks on Muye's back. He encouraged Muye to be brave and pursue love without fear of getting hurt, leaving Muye confused about his words.
Later, during You You's interview, Yiyi video-called Muye, spotted You You in the background, and excitedly declared she was coming to visit, asking Muye to stall him. After the shoot, Muye, Yiyi, and You You went to dinner. Yiyi, starstruck, chatted enthusiastically with You You. While Yiyi went to get more beer, You You advised Muye to praise girls more, even for small details, to make them happy.
Muye, attempting to compliment Yiyi upon her return, awkwardly commented that her ears looked like "dumplings" and then "seashells." You You quickly intervened, explaining Muye meant her ears were "cute and tender, like a mermaid's," which pleased Yiyi greatly. Yiyi then asked You You about former badminton player Shi Liang. Muye clarified that Yiyi was developing a mechanical arm and hoped to replicate Shi Liang's playing style with it.
You You, familiar with Shi Liang's technique, offered to be a consultant, providing insights into his posture and style. As You You prepared to leave, he threw a glowing sphere at Muye, telling him to focus less on training metrics and more on cherishing time with his ward, as true happiness required mutual achievement. Muye then realized You You was his senior.
On their way home, Yiyi, still admiring You You, asked Muye if he knew how to rock climb, expressing her desire to outdo Angel. Sensing impending trouble if he refused, Muye agreed to help, outlining a rigorous training plan. The very next day, Muye woke Yiyi at 5 AM for a morning run, demanding she stick to a strict exercise routine and healthy diet, replacing her desired fried chicken and beer with apples and yogurt.
He then took her to the gym for spinning, instructing Ma Yun to supervise Yiyi and ensure she didn't slack off. Miaomiao, observing Muye's intense attention towards Yiyi, appeared jealous. Later, Yiyi's phone caught a virus and wouldn't turn on. Muye suggested taking it to a repair shop the next morning. The following day, the repairman estimated a two-hour wait. Anxious about her climbing appointment with Angel, Yiyi left Muye to wait for her phone.
The technician began to reformat the phone, backing up all data to a computer. While checking the backup, Muye discovered numerous photos of Chu Tianqi, realizing Yiyi still held deep feelings for her ex-boyfriend. Meanwhile, at the climbing gym, Yiyi, unwilling to be outdone by Angel, bravely tackled a difficult climbing wall. Reaching the top, she silently wished Muye could witness her achievement. However, she misstepped and plunged downwards. The belayer, distracted, failed to react. Just as Yiyi fell, Muye, sensing her danger, instantly teleported to her side, catching her in mid-air. The impact, however, caused them to accidentally share a kiss.
Episode 6 Recap
Jiang Yiyi felt a profound awkwardness about the unexpected kiss with Fang Muye. She tried to approach him about it, but he wasn't home. Meanwhile, Fang Muye was suffering from a severe full-body allergic reaction, which Grandpa Hu attributed to his use of Guardian powers during the forbidden month. Grandpa Hu prepared a special medicinal bath for Fang Muye and reiterated that a true Guardian must forsake all emotional attachments.
Fang Muye argued that the previous incident was merely an accident, but Grandpa Hu warned him against any repeat occurrences. Grandpa Hu then noticed nascent Guardian wings forming on Fang Muye’s back, which were intensely hot to the touch. He also received a divine message: a rare total lunar eclipse in two days would provide a critical opportunity for Fang Muye to complete his first Guardian transformation.
This ritual required a one-minute energy transmission with his guarded object, Jiang Yiyi, by interlocking their fingers. Fang Muye found this requirement perplexing, given the Guardian’s oath of emotional detachment, but Grandpa Hu insisted on the importance of this "golden opportunity." Later, Fang Muye visited a children's amusement park, where watching a grandmother and grandson brought back poignant memories of his own grandma comforting him, assuring him of her love despite his parents' absence.
At home, Jiang Yiyi was distracted by a TV segment on "World Kissing Day," amusingly noting that kissing could burn calories. When Fang Muye returned, he commented on her flushed face, which made her even more self-conscious. Jiang Yiyi tried to discuss the accidental kiss, but Fang Muye quickly dismissed it, stating that he was not, and never would be, in love with her. Feeling hurt by his bluntness, Jiang Yiyi video chatted with her friend Zhizhi.
She confessed to feeling desperate from being single and shared her disappointing experience with a dating app Zhizhi had recommended, revealing that profiles like "Wu Dawei" and "Chen Liang" were far from what they claimed. Zhizhi then advised Jiang Yiyi to expand her social circle by befriending younger colleagues at her company. The next morning, Jiang Yiyi overslept, making her late for a matchmaking event, and asked Fang Muye to drive her.
During the ride, she nervously adjusted her makeup while Fang Muye made sarcastic remarks about her appearance and the supposed impatience of men. At the venue, a colleague informed Jiang Yiyi that she had missed the general session but could still join a VIP reception for 1,000 yuan, which promised men from prestigious backgrounds. Jiang Yiyi called Fang Muye, who was waiting in the car, to borrow the money, reminding him she still owed him for past car rentals.
Inside, a staff member explained that men's social status was indicated by the number of badges they wore. Jiang Yiyi soon spotted her boss, Vivian, engrossed in conversation with a badge-laden man. Vivian quickly warned Jiang Yiyi not to interfere. Later, in the restroom, Jiang Yiyi accidentally overheard Vivian flirting with a man.
After he left, Vivian confronted Jiang Yiyi, telling her that she should have never broken up with Chu Tianqi, implying that was why she found herself at such events. Vivian then encouraged Jiang Yiyi to try her luck in the final round, a blindfolded speed-dating session. Back at the gym, Miaomiao presented depressing financial reports to Meng Sizhuo, regretting their business venture. Meng Sizhuo, however, was more interested in Miaomiao's personal life, suggesting she focus on building relationships.
He also proposed a "healthy package" idea to boost gym revenue. Miaomiao later invited Fang Muye to dinner at an organic vegetarian restaurant to discuss this plan. Excited, she carefully chose her outfit and tidied her appearance, which Meng Sizhuo noticed, playfully teasing her about going on a date. At the matchmaking event, Fang Muye, realizing the total lunar eclipse was imminent and Jiang Yiyi was still inside, decided to enter the blindfolded session.
He discreetly located Jiang Yiyi and, as per the Guardian's instructions, interlocked his fingers with hers. Jiang Yiyi felt a strange, familiar sensation during the one-minute energy transfer. Fang Muye's Guardian wings formed, and he instantly teleported back to his car. Jiang Yiyi removed her blindfold to find no one there, wondering if she had imagined the entire encounter. Fang Muye, now back in his car, felt his heart racing, realizing that Jiang Yiyi had changed his destiny.
When Jiang Yiyi finally left the event, Fang Muye was waiting. Vivian approached them, expressing disbelief that Fang Muye was merely Jiang Yiyi's roommate and even asked him if he had any eligible relatives to introduce. As they drove home, Jiang Yiyi couldn't help but glance at Fang Muye, feeling an uncanny resemblance to the person who had held her hand.
She then gave him a business card for an upcoming fitness-themed matchmaking event, suggesting a potential collaboration for Mu-Xing gym's new health package. Alone with her thoughts, Jiang Yiyi reminisced about her past relationship with Chu Tianqi, wondering if Vivian was right about her not letting him go. Meanwhile, Jiang Yiyi had embarked on a shopping spree, believing it would help her burn calories. She bought new high heels and, feeling triumphant, discarded her old sneakers.
However, the high heels quickly became uncomfortable, and when she tried to retrieve her sneakers, she saw a cleaning lady wearing them. Stranded with painful feet and the onset of her period, Jiang Yiyi sat miserably at a bus stop. Fang Muye, having noticed Jiang Yiyi's absence from the gym, called her. Learning of her predicament, he immediately called Miaomiao to cancel their dinner, much to Miaomiao's irritation, who felt he was being overly influenced by Jiang Yiyi.
Fang Muye rushed to Jiang Yiyi's aid, bringing an assortment of sanitary pads, ginger tea, and painkillers. Jiang Yiyi was deeply touched by his thoughtful care, remarking that his presence was more valuable than any money. Since Jiang Yiyi could not walk, Fang Muye borrowed a pedicab from a driver. Jiang Yiyi, changing into new clothes in the pedicab, happily described her vision of true love: an old couple riding a pedicab together, relying on each other regardless of luxury.
Fang Muye watched her joyful expression, wishing that moment could last forever. Later that night, a dejected Miaomiao, stood up by Fang Muye, was drinking alone at a bar. Meng Sizhuo arrived with a female companion and was surprised to find Miaomiao there. He teased her about being stood up, but a visibly upset Miaomiao angrily told him to leave her alone and stop mentioning Fang Muye.
Meng Sizhuo, concerned, tried to persuade her to stop drinking and go home, but she was too drunk to listen. Back home, Jiang Yiyi reflected on Fang Muye's good looks and helpful nature, concluding that she was happy living with him. Her thoughts were interrupted by a text message from Chu Tianqi, informing her that he had officially returned to China and, by a strange coincidence, his new apartment in Swan Apartment was directly opposite hers. Jiang Yiyi was left with mixed feelings, questioning why he would share this news, especially since he supposedly had a girlfriend, and feeling a sudden surge of heat.
Episode 7 Recap
When coaches from Mu-Xing Gym were out distributing flyers to attract new clients, they encountered Jiang Yiyi, who was dressed elegantly. Yiyi saw a figure resembling Chu Tianqi from behind and followed him, only to be stopped by a security guard who informed her that she was not a resident of the upscale community and couldn't enter.
Yiyi, embarrassed, gave an excuse about looking for a friend but realized her mistake when the guard pointed out that the buildings didn't go as high as she claimed. Feeling out of sorts, Yiyi went to a nearby supermarket. At the checkout, she discovered her total was surprisingly high. After removing several expensive items, she still tried to pay with what turned out to be a bus pass.
The cashier, annoyed by the delay, suggested she leave the items if they were too expensive. Just then, Fang Muye appeared and paid for Yiyi's groceries, receiving a notification on his "Good Deeds Card" for helping her. On their way home, Muye observed Yiyi's distracted state and guessed it was because of her ex-boyfriend. Yiyi admitted she was unsure what she was doing or why she was so emotional since learning Chu Tianqi had moved nearby.
Muye encouraged her to pursue Chu Tianqi if she still loved him, but Yiyi sighed, stating the vast difference between them made him unattainable. Despite her pessimism, Muye, believing Chu Tianqi was her happiness, resolved to help her. Fang Muye initiated his plan, aiming to make Chu Tianqi rediscover Yiyi's charm. He sent Chu Tianqi a lunchbox under Yiyi's name, but it yielded no results as Chu Tianqi seemed solely focused on work.
For his final strategy, Muye resorted to their shared romantic memories. He covertly used his superpower to conjure up a CD of Yiyi's selected ballads, which she had specially prepared for Chu Tianqi, and placed it in Chu Tianqi's car. Hearing the songs, Chu Tianqi was flooded with memories of his time with Yiyi and couldn't help but smile. Witnessing this from afar, Muye felt his plan was finally working.
As Muye returned home, he found Yiyi eating strong-smelling food, surprised she wasn't out. Just then, Yiyi received a call from Chu Tianqi, who was near her home and wanted to meet. Yiyi, flustered and unprepared, quickly got ready. Chu Tianqi then requested to visit her apartment. Yiyi, having previously lied about living alone, frantically tried to manage the situation.
Muye quickly tidied up, turning off a burning pot and opening a window, then hid on the balcony with the dog. Chu Tianqi thanked Yiyi for the food and CD, but Yiyi was confused, unaware Muye was behind it. As Chu Tianqi spoke with Yiyi, Muye watched from the balcony, feeling a strange discomfort as he saw their closeness, and a dark glow briefly appeared in his hand.
Chu Tianqi, who received a call and had to leave, invited Yiyi to be his date for an event on Sunday. He noticed a pair of men's sneakers next to the sofa. After Chu Tianqi left, Yiyi video-chatted with Zhizhi, expressing her satisfaction at having rejected Chu Tianqi's invitation to test his feelings. She then noticed that one of her old CDs was missing from a box of cherished items.
Muye took Yiyi to the gym to sample healthy meals, and Yiyi agreed to help at a cold food banquet in a couple of days. Miaomiao noticed that Muye smiled much more when he was with Yiyi, a change that made her feel uneasy, and she walked away. At work, Yiyi was browsing an advertisement for a snowy mountain hiking trip and recognized Anqi in the photos.
Yiyi questioned Anqi, who casually explained that she often hiked with a senior classmate and became a tourism ambassador through her father's connections with the tourism administration. Yiyi felt a pang of annoyance but couldn't dispute Anqi's privileged background. Just then, a colleague called Yiyi to General Manager Wei's office. Later, Jiang Yiyi attended the Civic Mountaineering Annual Conference, co-hosted by the tourism administration, to help out at the Mu-Xing Gym's food station.
She saw Anqi prominently displayed as the event's image ambassador on a large billboard. Muye pointed out many influential figures attending the conference. Suddenly, Yiyi spotted Chu Tianqi in the crowd and tried to hide, but he noticed her. Yiyi introduced Muye as her personal fitness trainer, but Chu Tianqi's keen eye immediately recognized Muye's white sneakers as the same pair he had seen in Yiyi's apartment, seemingly realizing something.
Chu Tianqi explained that his company organized the event because of his personal desire to hike Cang Mountain and Erhai Lake. He then invited Yiyi to join him, reminding her of their old agreement, and Yiyi accepted. Witnessing this, Muye again felt a dark glow in his hand but also acknowledged Yiyi was a step closer to her happiness. During the event's lottery drawing, as Yiyi didn't have a ticket, Muye gave her his.
Chu Tianqi then covertly manipulated the draw, ensuring Yiyi won the grand prize: a seven-day hiking trip to the snowy mountains, complete with air tickets. On her way home from the event, Yiyi received a call informing her that Chu Tianqi had been hospitalized and that she was still listed as his emergency contact. Crying and anxious, Yiyi rushed to the hospital. There, she found Anqi by Chu Tianqi's bedside, caring for him.
This sight, coupled with flashbacks of Anqi's previous conversations about a "senior classmate" and "boyfriend," made Yiyi realize that Anqi was talking about Chu Tianqi. Anqi expressed her dependence on Chu Tianqi as he lay in bed, but Chu Tianqi's expression remained somewhat uneasy. Heartbroken, Yiyi quietly left the hospital. Muye followed her, offering comfort and encouraging her to express her sadness. However, Yiyi was despondent and uninterested in anything.
Back home, Muye was troubled by Yiyi's low spirits when a message from his "Good Deeds Card" appeared, delivered by Grandpa Hu, warning him that his balance was critically low and he risked losing three months of progress if he didn't try harder.
Episode 8 Recap
Jiang Yiyi had been feeling quite down, and Fang Muye, recalling her past yearning for a science museum, decided to lift her spirits. Over three consecutive days, he sent bouquets of flowers along with various exhibition tickets to her office. While the tickets for the first two days didn't capture her interest and she gave them to colleagues, the third day brought two tickets to the Future Technology Expo, sparking her excitement.
Her colleagues, however, showed no enthusiasm for such an event. Yiyi playfully referred to the anonymous sender as a "secret admirer" and later invited Muye to accompany her to the expo. Muye feigned surprise, remarking that most girls preferred musicals, unlike her unique interest in technology. At the Future Technology Expo, Jiang Yiyi and Fang Muye immersed themselves in the interactive exhibits.
During one display, Yiyi playfully placed Muye's hand on a machine designed to sequence human DNA, but it immediately malfunctioned. Muye quickly pulled her away, visibly embarrassed. Later, as they enjoyed astronaut ice cream, they reminisced about their childhood dreams. Yiyi shared that she was a natural inventor in her youth and had aspired to work for a technology company, believing she could have been a millionaire inventor had she not sacrificed her career progression to follow Chu Tianqi.
Muye, in turn, confessed his childhood ambition to fly higher than any astronaut. Their conversation was interrupted by a speech from Peter Chen, the esteemed President of Rococo Technology. Yiyi, a fervent admirer of Chen, eagerly tried to approach him after his talk but was accidentally knocked down, missing her chance. She expressed her disappointment, mentioning her desire to discuss her robotic arm design with him.
Yiyi then fondly recalled how, as a child, she had invented a sweeping robot for her mother and submitted its design to Rococo's in-house magazine. Peter Chen had personally replied with an encouraging letter, which had since served as a constant source of inspiration, urging her to persevere as an inventor despite the inevitable doubts. Determined to help Yiyi, Muye used his extraordinary abilities to stop Peter Chen's car in the underground parking garage, securing an impromptu meeting for her.
Yiyi passionately presented her ideas, particularly her robotic arm design, hoping to contribute to former athlete Shi Liang's new therapy, which Rococo was developing. Impressed, Peter Chen gave her his business card and invited her to submit her detailed design blueprints and product concepts. Overwhelmed with joy, Yiyi hugged Muye tightly. Meanwhile, at the gym, Meng Sizuo was celebrating the supposed success of their new health food plan, even contemplating buying Miaomiao an expensive bag.
However, Miaomiao swiftly interrupted his revelry, showing him an online news report stating that Chu Tianqi, a senior executive, had suffered food poisoning after consuming Mu-Xing's health food at an annual conference. A staff member, Xiaoxi, added that Chu Tianqi was a friend of Jiang Yiyi. Muye, who had been listening from behind a wall, stepped out and declared that he would handle the investigation himself, urging them not to involve Yiyi.
Despite Muye's instruction, Miaomiao later sought out Yiyi privately. She conveyed her deep concern for Mu-Xing's reputation, emphasizing that this was their inaugural public offering of health food and that everyone had poured their efforts into it. Miaomiao also expressed her confusion as to why, among all the attendees, only Chu Tianqi had fallen ill, and inquired if Yiyi was aware of any specific allergies he might have.
Though somewhat conflicted, Yiyi agreed to speak with Chu Tianqi to get to the bottom of the matter. Jiang Yiyi then visited Chu Tianqi at his home to discuss the food poisoning incident. Her attempts to defend Mu-Xing gym only seemed to aggravate him; he felt she prioritized the gym's reputation over his well-being, especially since she hadn't visited him in the hospital. Noticing his persistent cough, Yiyi offered to make him a hot drink.
In the kitchen, she was deeply touched to find her old robot, an invention from her childhood, still in his possession. She brought him hot water and gently pressed him again, asking if he might have consumed anything else that day. Chu Tianqi became visibly angry, revealing his knowledge that Yiyi was living with Fang Muye.
He accused her of valuing an "outsider" more than him and even speculated that Muye, out of personal dislike, might have been responsible for his illness. Yiyi quickly refuted this, defending Muye. She then disclosed that she "had" visited the hospital but had seen him being attended to by Angel, a colleague from their office.
Chu Tianqi clarified that Angel was like a younger sister, a family friend he had grown up with, and whose father had asked him to look after in America. He emphasized that Angel had blamed herself for his illness, contrasting it with Yiyi's perceived lack of concern. While they were talking, Chu Tianqi saw a WeChat message from Muye on Yiyi's phone, asking if she was coming home for dinner.
He explicitly stated his disapproval of her living with another man and urged her to stay with him that night. Yiyi ended up staying at Chu Tianqi's apartment that night, leaving Muye to wait anxiously for her return at home. The next morning, Yiyi prepared porridge for Chu Tianqi, who embraced her from behind in the kitchen. As she was about to leave for work, Chu Tianqi gave her a set of his house keys.
He promised to avoid Angel if Yiyi wished and reassured her that he was not the one who had leaked the news about his food poisoning to the media. When Yiyi eventually returned to their apartment, Muye, who had spent a sleepless night worrying, tried to act nonchalant. Noticing his distant demeanor, Yiyi playfully insisted that he wash her hair and then join her for breakfast. At a company meeting, Jiang Yiyi presented her innovative design for marathon sportswear.
Her concept included an invisible water pouch for hydration, a light-sensitive gauge that activated automatically at night, and a unique sound feature that played cat purring, which she believed offered therapeutic benefits for athletes. Angel immediately challenged the scientific validity of the purring sound, referencing a discredited professor.
Yiyi cited her friends' research in animal behavior to support her claim, but Vivian, the CEO, advised her to gather more concrete scientific evidence if she wanted to avoid the product being dismissed as a failure within the industry. Nevertheless, Vivian was impressed by the idea's potential to capture consumer interest and approved the project.
She tasked Yiyi with developing a comprehensive marketing plan within three days for a launch in Tokyo, but clarified that Yiyi would be responsible for all advertising and filming expenses. Meanwhile, at the gym, Meng Sizuo and Muye were contemplating how to manage the fallout from the food poisoning scandal. Sizuo viewed the negative publicity as an opportunity for rebranding and proposed that Muye, with his appealing image, should become the gym's new "star coach" to boost public relations.
Muye, however, was more focused on finding the true cause of the poisoning. Later, Yiyi spotted a news report featuring Muye as an endorser for a vegetable wholesaler. Inspired, she decided to use his image for her sportswear advertising campaign, despite the requirement to cover the costs herself. Later that day, in the office pantry, Yiyi noticed Angel taking medication and inquired if she was feeling unwell.
Angel quickly concealed the pills and apologized for her previous harsh remarks during the meeting. Yiyi felt a pang of sympathy for Angel, understanding that Chu Tianqi considered her only a sister. Soon after, Muye called Yiyi to inform her that he had arranged for them to view surveillance footage from the annual conference, hoping it would shed light on the food poisoning incident.
As they reviewed the video from the food counter, Yiyi received a call from Vivian and stepped out. In her absence, Muye was shocked to witness Angel discreetly tampering with Chu Tianqi's drink. He quickly made a backup copy of the incriminating video. When Yiyi returned and asked if he had found anything, Muye, choosing to protect her from the unsettling truth, simply stated that he hadn't.
As Angel left the office and stepped into an elevator, it suddenly jolted, plunging into darkness and shaking violently. From the speakers, Muye's voice ominously echoed, warning her that bad deeds never truly go undiscovered.
Episode 9 Recap
Anji was consumed by rage as she recalled the annual party where Jiang Yiyi received a major award. She had diligently worked out and dieted, becoming a brand ambassador for travel agencies, all with the singular goal of joining Chu Tianqi on a mountain climbing trip. Her fury stemmed from Yiyi’s seemingly effortless reconciliation with Tianqi, which thwarted Anji’s elaborate plans.
At that same party, Anji had secretly drugged a glass of champagne, intending it for Yiyi, but Chu Tianqi had inadvertently consumed it instead. Later, as Anji was leaving work, she found herself trapped in a malfunctioning elevator. Fang Muye’s voice resonated through the flickering light, revealing his knowledge of her actions. He told her he knew she had drugged the champagne and that her true target was Jiang Yiyi, not Chu Tianqi.
He warned her that if he ever discovered her plotting to harm Yiyi again, he would not spare her. Anji tried to feign misunderstanding, but then received a video on her phone showing her tampering with the drink. Confronted with undeniable proof, Anji was filled with bitter resentment, bewildered by everyone’s apparent support for Jiang Yiyi.
Back at the gym, the crisis surrounding the food poisoning incident was resolved when Chu Tianqi publicly clarified that his gastroenteritis was caused by constant travel and an upset stomach, not by Mu-Xing Gym's meal plans. This announcement cleared the gym's name. With the crisis averted, Miaomiao announced a two-day weekend getaway for all staff to Fang Muye’s farm in the suburbs, viewing it as an ideal opportunity to plan their "farm to table" promotions.
Meng Sizhuo, who had initially hoped for a more intimate trip with Miaomiao, was slightly disappointed it had turned into a group event, but he ultimately agreed to join. Jiang Yiyi joined the group, intending to film a promotional video for her project. As they drove through the vast estate, Yiyi mused about the strangeness of Muye owning such a large property, which belonged to his grandmother, yet choosing to share a small apartment with her.
Muye explained that the land was segmented into plots and leased out, adding that even the organic vegetables they had enjoyed at the gym’s buffet were cultivated there. Upon realizing she had forgotten her camera battery, Muye suggested she use her phone instead, arguing that phone videos possessed a "unique style" and a "more personal touch," akin to those of online influencers. Yiyi reluctantly agreed, and everyone enthusiastically participated in demonstrating the "Ultrasmart sports clothes."
They filmed various scenarios, showcasing the garments' waterproof capabilities for rainy weather and integrated hydration features for marathon runners. For a third segment, Yiyi had everyone don colorful vegetable and fruit costumes, like a banana, pepper, and bean, to embody "organic living" by crushing watermelons to create healthy milkshakes. Muye even utilized his powers to produce a "cat purring" sound effect, hoping to help them maintain focus.
After the filming concluded, everyone, parched from their efforts, eagerly drank the fresh watermelon milkshakes. After the photoshoot, Yiyi joined Miaomiao and the others in a traditional kitchen where they were building a wood fire. Yiyi expressed her fascination with the rustic cooking method and wondered why Muye, who usually enjoyed culinary tasks, wasn't participating. Muye, haunted by a past traumatic event involving fire, explained he wasn't adept at lighting fires and typically used an induction hob at home.
Miaomiao mentioned that she frequently visited the farm as a child and more recently to oversee the vegetables, noting that the place hadn't changed much. She then discreetly thanked Yiyi for her assistance with the Chu Tianqi situation, asking her to keep it private from Muye. Later, during dinner, Muye played the guitar, drawing the attention of the female guests. Meng Sizhuo playfully accused Yiyi of being "obsessed" with Muye, a claim she promptly denied.
Later that evening at the villa, Jiang Yiyi discovered an insect bite on her back, prompting Muye to suggest she take a shower. He offered her his grandmother's "sparkling herbal wine made of flowers," explaining it could be used for bathing or drinking. While in the shower, Yiyi decided that consuming the wine would be more effective for her allergy and took several sips. Meanwhile, the others were playing truth or dare in the living room.
When Muye was asked if he harbored feelings for anyone present, he hesitated before ultimately taking a drink that Meng Sizhuo had spiked with alcohol. Feeling dizzy, Muye excused himself to check on Yiyi, but instead, he used his powers to instantly teleport to his grandmother’s bedside. There, he held her hand and expressed his profound longing, wondering when she would awaken.
Back in the living room, when it was Meng Sizhuo’s turn for truth, he confessed his love for Miaomiao. Miaomiao, angered by his confession, stormed out, followed by Ma Yun. Ma Yun then confronted Miaomiao, asserting that Sizhuo's feelings were genuine, but Miaomiao liked someone else, thereby revealing the strain of their love triangle involving Muye. Meanwhile, Yiyi, feeling disoriented from the medicinal wine, inadvertently wandered into what she soon realized was Muye’s grandmother’s room.
Muye quickly found her there and guided her outside to the starlit lawn in front of the villa. Under the vast night sky, Muye recounted his childhood, spent predominantly with his grandmother while his parents were consistently abroad. He emotionally described the fire that occurred when he was eleven, where his grandmother bravely shielded him from the flames, leaving him with minor burns but tragically rendering her comatose for nine years.
He expressed deep resentment towards his cold-hearted parents for abandoning his grandmother and even considering euthanasia. Yiyi, deeply moved by his story, finally understood his enduring pain and realized his vegetarianism was a devoted prayer for his grandmother’s recovery. She comforted him, confidently asserting she had a strong premonition his grandmother would soon awaken. Just as Muye was about to confide something else in Yiyi, she excitedly mistook a passing plane for a shooting star.
Seeing her joy, Muye used his powers to conjure a spectacular meteor shower across the sky. Yiyi closed her eyes to make a wish, and Muye, captivated by her radiant smile, felt as if she could illuminate the darkest night. As Yiyi drifted off to sleep on the grass, Muye gently draped his jacket over her, contemplating whether their relationship would be different if he weren't her Guardian.
The next morning, Yiyi and Muye woke up on the grass to discover that everyone else had already departed for the city. They were left to hitch a ride back on a truck transporting vegetables. Yiyi felt utterly refreshed and joyful after waking up amidst nature, as if all her worries had dissolved.
Muye inquired if she remembered anything from the previous night, which made her anxious about any embarrassing actions, but he feigned sleep when she pressed him for details. Soon after, Yiyi received an exciting phone call from Gigi, announcing her return. Upon arriving home, Yiyi was greeted by Gigi, her old roommate. Yiyi introduced Fang Muye to Gigi, who already knew him as the "cute guy" Yiyi had often mentioned.
Gigi playfully teased Yiyi about Muye’s "big, cute eyes" and asked if Yiyi had feelings for him, but Yiyi denied it, insisting they were "just roommates." Gigi then admonished Yiyi for having her youth revolve entirely around Chu Tianqi, neglecting her own inventions and career. Yiyi retorted that she had never ceased inventing, although her projects, such as the robotic arm, weren't progressing as smoothly as she hoped.
Gigi advised Yiyi that if she truly liked Muye, she should "make the first move," adding that if Yiyi remained passive, she would pursue him herself. Feeling he was intruding on their reunion, Muye volunteered to go out and buy some snacks. While waiting at a barbecue stall, Muye, a devout vegetarian, found himself experiencing an unusual and intense craving for the grilled meat.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his back, and his body uncontrollably teleported him into a secluded alley. There, to his astonishment and alarm, his shimmering, transparent wings burst forth, fully unfurled and beyond his control.
Episode 10 Recap
Fang Muye's wings spontaneously appear and become uncontrollable. He contacts Grandpa Hu, who explains that the manifestation of his wings signifies Jiang Yiyi's remarkably high happiness index, meaning Muye has successfully completed his stage goal as a guardian. Grandpa Hu instructs Muye to now tame these wings, build a close bond with them, and consume more protein to help them integrate into his body.
Muye notes his recent intense craving for meat and expresses frustration with Grandpa Hu's advice and absence. While Jiang Yiyi and Zhizhi chat over drinks, a news report on TV announces that Rococo's smart bracelet research has been halted due to Shi Liang's withdrawal, though Peter Chen claims development is still underway. Yiyi expresses a strong feeling that something bad is about to happen. Fang Muye returns with takeout, including chicken wings.
He quickly gives a specific, well-done wing to Yiyi, noting it's her favorite and has no pepper, while Zhizhi is told she can have the rest. Yiyi gives Muye milk, explaining that he doesn't drink alcohol. Zhizhi questions where she will sleep, stating she refuses to share a bed with Yiyi because Yiyi grinds her teeth and takes up too much space. Muye offers his room to Zhizhi and says he will sleep in the gym, despite its constant activity.
Yiyi receives a phone call from Chu Tianqi, who is on a business trip. He asks her to visit his house the following day to water his plants. Muye questions who is calling Yiyi so late. Zhizhi then teases Muye, suggesting he could sleep with her instead of the gym, but Muye firmly rejects the idea. The next day, Jiang Yiyi visits Chu Tianqi's apartment to water his plants.
Upon entering, she finds slippers with a note explicitly stating they are "just for her." Inside, she discovers a thoughtfully preserved "creative corner" filled with her belongings, including her favorite CD, and even sees their shared photos placed in his cherished painting album. Yiyi is deeply moved by his meticulous efforts to save her things and his earlier romantic gestures, such such as his past mention of a honeymoon trip to a flower-filled paradise.
She then receives a text message from Chu Tianqi, inviting her to move back in if she likes everything he has prepared. Considering his sincerity, Yiyi contemplates rekindling their relationship. As she leaves the apartment, she spots Vivian and gym coach Peng Tao, which she finds puzzling. Rococo's smart bracelet research faces challenges, and their R&D team reports to Peter Chen about a specific fingerprint collected from the Science Museum.
The gene test results for this fingerprint are beyond their current analytical capabilities, indicating a "mutant gene sample" that Peter Chen deems invaluable for their research. He orders the team to retrieve all surveillance footage from the museum for that day to identify the person.
Peter Chen later reviews a video of Jiang Yiyi's mechanical arm, observing its intricate design for human joints, its internal air movement, and its impressive ability to maintain control and balance, even when demonstrated playing table tennis. Soon after, Vivian informs Yiyi that Peter Chen has requested her contact information, expressing significant interest in her mechanical arm design and a desire for collaboration.
Overjoyed at the prospect of working with her idol, Yiyi hugs Vivian, recognizing the immense opportunity this partnership could bring for their company. Fang Muye, feeling overwhelmed by recent misfortunes, including his uncontrollable wings and Zhizhi staying at his home, goes to find Grandpa Hu. Unable to reach him, Muye complains about Grandpa Hu's unreliability, especially during this critical period of his guardian advancement. Muye then receives a celestial notification: he has entered the "third stage, color blindness."
This stage will bring increased power and potentially "superior vision," but he is warned to be cautious and take precautions to avoid trouble and mistakes. Muye speculates if "superior vision" means seeing for miles. Zhizhi discovers Muye's notebook containing detailed notes about Jiang Yiyi, including a reminder to buy her sanitary pads, leading Zhizhi to believe Muye has feelings for Yiyi. Muye, startled, questions why she is looking at his notes.
Zhizhi then offers to reveal all of Yiyi's preferences and past if Muye agrees to go shopping with her. At the mall, Zhizhi takes a close selfie with Muye, explicitly stating she intends to send it to Yiyi to make her jealous and encourage her to pursue Muye. Muye objects, worried Yiyi will misunderstand, and insists he doesn't like Yiyi. Zhizhi dismisses his denial, asking why he's so nice to her.
Muye explains, "Because I'm her Guardian Angel," a statement Zhizhi finds amusingly outdated. During their shopping, Muye begins to experience his color-blindness, unable to distinguish between colors. When Zhizhi asks him to retrieve a specific colored dress, he seizes the opportunity to excuse himself, leaving a shop assistant to deliver the dress and his apologies to Zhizhi.
Fang Muye, now fully experiencing his color blindness where he sees distorted colors, is walking down the street when he notices an unattended baby stroller rolling into the path of an oncoming car. He quickly pushes the stroller to safety but is struck by the vehicle, briefly losing consciousness. Upon waking, Muye discovers he has gained a new "superior vision" ability, allowing him to perceive past events associated with a particular place or object.
At the same time, he observes Peter Chen driving by, surrounded by a distinct "black aura." Zhizhi, having returned home, initially plans to watch a horror movie and considers asking Muye due to Yiyi's busy schedule. However, Yiyi insists she isn't too busy and would like to go with Zhizhi, so they make plans for the next day.
At the cinema, Yiyi finds Muye waiting for her instead, who explains that Zhizhi had a stylist appointment and sent him with the tickets. Frustrated by Zhizhi's antics, Yiyi invites Muye to watch the horror film with her. During the movie, Yiyi, frightened, grabs Muye's hand. At one point, as they make way for another moviegoer, their faces come very close, almost in a kiss. Muye's wings stir in response, and he quickly pulls back, relieved they didn't uncontrollably manifest.
Back home, Zhizhi, talking to her pet, expresses her conviction that Muye and Yiyi are "mutually attracted" and that she has done her part to bring them together. As Muye walks Yiyi home, she tells him about her upcoming meeting with Peter Chen to present her proposal. Muye, recalling the dark aura he saw around Chen, warns Yiyi that "something is wrong with that Peter Chen" and advises her to be cautious.
At a café, Peter Chen expresses his admiration for Jiang Yiyi, stating that her vision of technology benefiting everyone and her innovative concepts have inspired his work. He praises her mechanical arm schematics, finding her ideas superior to those of his own design department. Peter Chen then offers Yiyi a position as a paid "counselor" at Rococo, inviting her to collaborate on research.
Overjoyed at the opportunity to work with her idol, Yiyi eagerly accepts, even offering to work for free. During her enthusiastic reaction, she accidentally spills coffee on him. He then extends an invitation for her to visit the Rococo company the following day; Yiyi, having another meeting, agrees to come in the evening. At the gym, Vivian and Peng Tao conclude their training session, during which Peng Tao makes flirtatious remarks about being Vivian's personal trainer outside of the gym.
Shortly after, Miaomiao confronts Peng Tao, having confirmed he is taking unauthorized private clients, a direct violation of their company agreement. Peng Tao admits to it, explaining that he needs the additional income to "survive in Shanghai" and assures her that his external work has not compromised his performance at their gym. Meanwhile, Jiang Yiyi arrives at the gym to see Muye.
She attempts to persuade him to accompany her to visit Rococo, but he declines, citing his general dislike for such corporate events. Yiyi then helps Muye by making his sleeping area in the gym more comfortable with a pillow and quilt from home, which he appreciates. However, Muye remains troubled, as images of Peter Chen with a "black aura" repeatedly flash in his mind, leaving him with a strong premonition that "something bad is gonna happen."
Feeling heartbroken, Zhizhi drinks alone at a bar, where she unexpectedly sees Chu Tianqi and Angel together. Drunkenly confronting Chu Tianqi, she questions his presence, as Yiyi believes he is still on a business trip. Chu Tianqi introduces Zhizhi to Angel. Zhizhi then pointedly insults Angel and fiercely warns Chu Tianqi not to hurt Yiyi again, vowing not to let him get away with it if he does.
After Zhizhi leaves, Angel invites Chu Tianqi to her home that night to discuss their collaboration with her father, who has an early flight to America the next morning. Chu Tianqi accepts the invitation. Jiang Yiyi arrives at Rococo Technology for her meeting with Peter Chen and his research team.
She presents her mechanical arm prototype, explaining its innovative design that directly connects to the brain, enabling it to function as a "new arm entirely," a significant improvement over their current smart bracelet which merely stimulates damaged motor cells. She shares that her neighbor, Shi Liang, was her inspiration. During the meeting, Muye, still suspicious, sends Yiyi a text message reiterating his concerns about Peter Chen. Peter Chen then briefly excuses himself from the meeting.
Muye, worried about Yiyi, arrives at Rococo and inadvertently enters a testing room. Using his newly acquired "superior vision," he perceives past events within the room, witnessing researchers conducting drug trials on patients. Muye immediately finds Yiyi, attempting to forcefully remove her and warning her that "there's really something wrong" with Peter Chen. Yiyi, refusing to believe him and growing frustrated, insists on staying for her meeting. Unable to persuade her, Muye arranges for Ma Yun to pick Yiyi up.
Later, Peter Chen inspects the testing room and discovers evidence of Muye's presence. Reviewing elevator surveillance, he finds no record of Muye entering, which puzzles him. However, his researchers confirm that the fingerprints collected in the testing room match the unique "mutant gene sample" previously found at the science museum. Peter Chen realizes with a sense of triumph that the individual he has sought for many years has "finally showed up."
Episode 11 Recap
Jiang Yiyi was enjoying breakfast at home when her friend Gigi attempted to share something important. Gigi insisted that Chu Tianqi had returned from his business trip earlier than Yiyi thought, and she had seen him with Angel at a bar the previous night. Yiyi, however, dismissed Gigi’s concerns, attributing them to Gigi's long-standing disapproval of her relationship with Chu Tianqi.
Frustrated by Yiyi's disbelief, Gigi angrily vowed never to meddle in Yiyi's affairs again, even swearing by Yiyi's robot vacuum cleaner. Meanwhile, Chu Tianqi emerged from Angel's home, where he had spent the entire night discussing business with Angel's father. He called Yiyi, falsely claiming he had just landed and inviting her for breakfast at his place, offering to make sandwiches. Yiyi, already outside his apartment building, was delighted to see him.
As Chu Tianqi prepared coffee, Yiyi noticed his actual return flight ticket, which was for an earlier date, in his jacket pocket. This immediately brought Gigi's warning to mind. Her suspicions were confirmed when she saw a message from Angel on Chu Tianqi's phone, reminding him that he had left his wallet in her car yesterday. Realizing he had lied, Yiyi felt deeply disappointed and left without taking the necklace he had prepared as a gift.
Unbeknownst to Yiyi, at Rococo Tech Company, a secretary informed Chen Peter about Jiang Yiyi's past. During her childhood in Taiwan, Yiyi had won several "Young Inventor Competitions" co-organized by Chen Peter's company and Innovation Magazine. Rococo had nurtured her as a young talent, offering her a scholarship. Yiyi affectionately called Chen Peter her "super idol." Chen Peter then realized why Yiyi had seemed so familiar to him.
At the gym, Fang Muye worked out while also running errands for Yiyi, including picking up dog food and sanitary pads. Meng Sizhuo approached him to remind him about a celebratory dinner for Mu-Xing the following evening. Simultaneously, Muye received a text from Gigi, informing him that she was leaving and asking him to look after Yiyi. Later, Yiyi and Gigi shared an emotional farewell.
Yiyi expressed concern about Gigi's sudden decision to move to Dalian with a new boyfriend, Darren, whom she barely knew. Gigi, in turn, advised Yiyi to cherish Fang Muye, noting how good he had been to her. They hugged and wished each other well before Gigi departed. Back at home, Jiang Yiyi watched old videos of herself and Chu Tianqi interacting with her robotic arm.
Muye, who was living in his room there, observed her and commented on her unchanging "silliness" over the years. Yiyi felt self-conscious, believing she hadn't made any progress and was a burden to Chu Tianqi, who was constantly improving. Yiyi also looked at the numerous cartons Muye had just brought in from a delivery, contemplating moving to Chu Tianqi's house.
Muye discovered a postcard from Gigi tucked under his pillow, urging him to pursue his own happiness and "not to delay." Elsewhere, Meng Sizhuo overheard Peng Tao talking on the phone to Vivian. Peng Tao was seeking Vivian's help to find another job at a tech company, indicating he might be looking to leave Mu-Xing, as he felt he couldn't stay there much longer if his personal training job was discovered. Sizhuo wondered what Peng Tao was "sneaking around" doing.
That evening, Mu-Xing held a celebratory dinner. Meng Sizhuo proudly announced that Mu-Xing had overcome its recent crisis and invited two popular online fitness trainers, Little Orange and Princess Fragrance, to share their experiences and help promote the gym on live streaming platforms. Miaomiao, however, was clearly displeased, finding the atmosphere messy/chaotic and Sizhuo's focus on online trainers to be not focusing on proper business.
Muye tried to calm her, reminding her that everyone was happy about their recovery and unity. As Muye and Sizhuo were leaving the restaurant, they spotted Peng Tao meeting with Chen Peter. They overheard Peng Tao discussing a genetic test for a job opportunity at Rococo. Shortly after Peng Tao left, Chu Tianqi arrived to meet Chen Peter.
Chu Tianqi expressed gratitude for Peter's long-standing support and sought Rococo's sponsorship for his new tech product launch in Malaysia, aligning with Rococo's interest in the Southeast Asian market. Chen Peter agreed to help Chu Tianqi secure a company partner position, but as a businessman, he wouldn't make unprofitable deals. He revealed he had recently found a "girl with a real gift for inventing things" and challenged Chu Tianqi to prove himself superior to her to win the investment.
At work, Yiyi's colleague, Gwen, got married, which left Yiyi feeling down because Chu Tianqi hadn't contacted her in a week since she abruptly left his place. Despite her sadness, Yiyi couldn't stay angry with him and decided to proactively visit him at his company. After his meeting, they went to the rooftop to watch the sunset.
Chu Tianqi explained that immediately after his flight, his teacher (Angel's father) had called him to discuss a project, leading him to stay at his teacher's house overnight. He admitted he hadn't told her because he feared she would misunderstand. He apologized for his past negligence and promised to balance work and their relationship now that he was back. He then invited her to his company's new product testing event that weekend.
Yiyi, reassured by his explanation and feeling his increased care, accepted. Fang Muye went to Grandpa Hu's house to help with a leaky roof. Seeing his alarm clock getting wet, Muye decided to take it with him. Grandpa Hu warned him that nurturing the "time artifact" clock was not easy; only senior Guardians could typically keep one.
However, due to the circumstances, Muye had to follow strict instructions from a manual, including offering sandalwood tea, a flower, and white coffee daily, and taking selfies with the clock four times a day. Grandpa Hu emphasized that any mistake or damage to the clock would have severe consequences. Later, Yiyi told Muye she would be home late. Muye asked if she had reconciled with Chu Tianqi.
Yiyi's answer was ambiguous, but she expressed that Chu Tianqi seemed to care more about her now and that she might have misunderstood him previously. Muye, clearly annoyed, sarcastically encouraged her to pursue happiness if she believed it. Yiyi found his attitude odd. At the gym, Muye's colleagues surprised him with a celebration for being chosen as "Fitness Star" for a magazine.
Miaomiao congratulated him and invited him to watch a movie, "Wings of Desire," with her, which Muye agreed to after a slight hesitation. During the celebration, Meng Sizhuo tried to dance with Miaomiao, but she remained focused on Muye. Meanwhile, Jiang Yiyi attended Chu Tianqi's new product testing event by the sea. They were showcasing an "Underwater Fish-Viewing Bracelet" equipped with a new sonar system, designed to allow non-divers to see fish.
Despite being unable to swim, Yiyi volunteered to test the device in the ocean. She put on the bracelet, then, to dive deeper, she removed her life vest and oxygen mask. Underwater, she quickly found herself in distress, unable to breathe, and called for help. At the same time, a sudden white light enveloped Fang Muye, transporting him from the gym's changing room to the beach where Yiyi was.
He found her hairband on the sand and, using his supersight, realized she was underwater and in great danger. He immediately jumped into the sea to rescue her. Back at the gym, Meng Sizhuo confronted Peng Tao, accusing him of taking outside work and stealing clients. Their argument escalated into a fight. Miaomiao, rushing to intervene and separate them, accidentally bumped into Muye's locker. The alarm clock inside fell to the ground and shattered into many pieces.
Simultaneously, in the ocean, Muye's body suddenly stiffened, and he became unable to move, leaving him helpless as Yiyi struggled underwater. Chu Tianqi, who had returned from a dive, realized Yiyi was missing and went back into the water to search for her.
Episode 12 Recap
Jiang Yiyi was in distress, drowning in the ocean, her body unable to move freely. Fortunately, Chu Tianqi arrived in time and pulled her ashore. At the temporary aid station, Yiyi checked on Chu Tianqi and noticed his leg was bleeding, possibly from coral, and immediately expressed her concern, trying to tend to his wound. Chu Tianqi, meanwhile, tenderly dried Yiyi's hair, an act she found touching as he had never done it before.
He confessed how much he missed her presence and, citing the inconvenience of her living with the coach, urged her to move in with him. He assured her he would always be her reliable support, especially after such a dangerous incident. Meanwhile, Fang Muye, whose body had become stiff and unresponsive in the water, was rescued by Grandpa Hu. When Muye regained consciousness, he was relieved to hear Yiyi was safe, saved by Chu Tianqi.
Muye, confused about how he suddenly teleported from the gym to the sea, was told by Grandpa Hu that Guardians are summoned when their ward is in danger. Grandpa Hu cautioned Muye to be careful not to risk his own life and instructed him to recover quickly for their next stage of training on the upcoming full moon. Muye then recalled his promise to Miaomiao to watch a movie.
At the cinema, Miaomiao was patiently waiting for Muye, accompanied by Meng Sizhuo, who was worried Muye might stand her up again, despite his own injuries. Muye finally rushed in late, soaked from head to toe. Sizhuo, being the thoughtful friend, quickly bought tickets for the next showing so Muye and Miaomiao could still watch the film, then excused himself to meet up with friends for drinks, feeling dispirited.
During the movie, Muye, exhausted from his ordeal, fell asleep, and Miaomiao gently rested his head on her shoulder. After the movie, Muye offered to cover Miaomiao's shift at the gym, but she insisted they work together, noting how pale he looked. After being dropped off by Chu Tianqi, Yiyi returned home, realized she had forgotten her keys. She tried calling Muye, but his phone was off.
Back at the gym, Miaomiao returned Muye's alarm clock, but discreetly concealed the fact that a crucial part of it was damaged. Muye apologized to Miaomiao for ruining the party they threw for him and being late for the movie, presenting her with a painting he knew she liked. However, Miaomiao confessed that it wasn't a gift she wanted.
She revealed her long-held feelings for him, explaining how she carefully hid them to stay close to him, even intentionally distancing herself in the past hoping he would seek her out, but he never did. Muye, admitting he hadn't realized the depth of her feelings, expressed his apologies. Miaomiao then embraced Muye, a moment Yiyi unfortunately witnessed as she arrived at the gym looking for him.
Heartbroken, Yiyi turned and left, telling herself it wasn't right to interrupt Muye's apparent relationship. Muye gently told Miaomiao that she would always be one of the most important people in his life, but Miaomiao understood that she wasn't important enough to "have" him. Muye explained his mission to help Yiyi find happiness, which was his top priority, and urged Miaomiao to consider those around her.
Later that night, Muye returned home to find Yiyi asleep on a park bench outside. He joined her, and when she awoke, she explained she'd forgotten her keys and had seen him busy at the gym. Muye shared the news of being recognized as "Fitness Star" by a magazine.
Yiyi congratulated him, though Muye sensed her unhappiness, and then offered to treat him to a big celebratory meal the next day, asking him to dress appropriately as she had something important to tell him. Muye playfully observed she still smelled of seawater, deducing she had been at the beach for a product test with Chu Tianqi, a detail Yiyi was surprised he knew.
The next day, Muye arrived at the pub dressed formally, only to be mocked by the owner for his attire. Yiyi clarified that the meal was to celebrate his award and their three months of cohabitation. She then revealed her decision to move out. Muye, feigning cheerfulness, agreed immediately, suggesting it must be because of Chu Tianqi. He even joked that if Chu Tianqi ever grew tired of her, he would take her back, though at a higher rent.
Yiyi, offended by his apparent happiness at her departure, declared she and Chu Tianqi would be very happy and left abruptly to pack. Once Yiyi was gone, Muye, who never drank, ordered liquor from the owner, admitting the "tastes of life" were found in it. Drunk in the park, Muye transformed into a clone and began talking to himself, reflecting on Chu Tianqi, Yiyi, and his mission, wondering if a Guardian could feel pain.
As he spoke, he suddenly grew wings, a sight witnessed by Peter Chen. Back home, Muye reviewed his Guardian midterm summary, which showed daily scores for his internship. He could re-evaluate and improve low-scoring incidents. He found a day with a score of 60, when Yiyi accidentally spilled red wine on his white shoes, causing him to lose his temper. Muye decided to "rebuild" this scene.
In the revised scenario, Yiyi brought him steamed buns and was careful with the wine on the balcony, but his dog, Gulu, ended up defecating on his shoes instead. Muye managed to suppress his anger. He then saw a previously unseen memory of Yiyi buying him expensive, limited-edition sneakers and then resorting to eating plain noodles because she had spent all her money. This deeply moved him.
Muye realized that his highest score came from a moment when he allowed Chu Tianqi to save Yiyi, which led to their reconciliation and Yiyi's decision to move out. He pondered if changing this past event could prevent her from leaving so soon, but found that only low-scoring plots could be reset. Later, Chu Tianqi found a still-tipsy Yiyi in the park and apologized that a business trip would cause him to miss her upcoming birthday.
Yiyi complained about his perceived neglect when she received a phone call from her "superhero," Peter Chen, inviting her to discuss business the following day. Chu Tianqi overheard her excitement and realized Yiyi was likely the "gifted inventor" Peter Chen had mentioned as his potential competitor. The next day, Yiyi met with Peter Chen, who inquired about Muye. Yiyi praised Muye, explaining his intelligence and assistance with the smart arm tests.
She agreed to bring Muye the next day to help test the arm on Mr. Shi Liang at the Rococo company. Back home, Yiyi found Muye fascinated by a 3D printer. Despite Muye's persistent skepticism towards Peter Chen, Yiyi shared her excitement, playing with the small figures they printed. She convinced Muye to accompany her to Rococo, emphasizing how talented Peter Chen believed Muye to be.
The following day at the lab, Yiyi and Muye found Mr. Shi Liang to be mentally unstable. Peter Chen explained that Mr. Shi Liang was sedated to help him cope with the reality of his disability, and he hoped Yiyi's design could help him. As they began testing the mechanical arm by stimulating the nerves and adjusting data, Mr. Shi Liang's expression suddenly contorted in pain.
Episode 13 Recap
Jiang Yiyi brought her mechanical arm to Rococo for a trial with Shi Liang, but the initial results were not ideal. Peter Chen praised her design as perfect, suggesting the issue might be with data collection and asked her to re-collect the data. Fang Muye, observing nearby, intervened and questioned Peter Chen about Shi Liang's worsening condition.
Peter Chen explained it was merely a drug reaction and offered Jiang Yiyi one million to buy her robotic arm, expressing full confidence in its potential. Yiyi, however, declined, stating that the arm was still imperfect, and selling it prematurely would be irresponsible to both Rococo and Shi Liang. Recognizing her commitment, Peter Chen offered to pay prerequisite costs in exchange for the right of first refusal, which Yiyi accepted, vowing to expedite her research.
Upon hearing the news of Rococo's interest, Yiyi's colleagues at Lazy Fun were thrilled and celebrated her achievement, promising increased R&D budget and additional support staff for her projects. Yiyi, driven by her goals, intensified her work, often staying up late to research. Worried about Yiyi's relentless overworking, Fang Muye used his powers to visit her at her company.
He initially disguised himself as a delivery man, then made himself invisible to others, observing and silently accompanying her during her long hours. After a week of continuous work, Yiyi returned home, exhausted, and suddenly realized that tomorrow would be her 30th birthday. She claimed her status as the birthday girl to insist that Muye help her pack for a move and accompany her to a theme park.
As they packed, Yiyi discovered her old phone, which triggered memories of her painful breakup with Chu Tianqi. She recounted how she had angrily left his car and gotten into a stranger's car – a car whose driver didn't drive her off, but drove away directly. She recalled crying by the street corner and her ex, Chu Tianqi, being gone.
She reflected that while the anonymous driver contributed to the breakup, it ultimately helped her mature and made Chu Tianqi more thoughtful, for which she felt grateful. Muye listened silently, eventually covering her with a blanket as she fell asleep, feeling a mix of reluctance and unease about her impending move, despite previously wanting her to leave. On the morning of her 30th birthday, Yiyi received many gifts from her colleagues at work.
Chu Tianqi sent her flowers and a text message admiring her lipstick and bag. She then received another message from him apologizing for being too busy to celebrate, adding that he had taken a week off for a trip to Dali with her to fulfill a college promise, and that he had already spoken to Vivian. Yiyi felt conflicted, knowing she had committed to improving the robotic arm for Peter Chen and that Vivian wouldn't normally let her take leave.
Later that day, as Yiyi was preparing to go to the theme park, Chu Tianqi surprised her by appearing at her company entrance, having taken leave specifically to celebrate her birthday. Yiyi, feeling obliged, apologized via text to Muye, who was already waiting at the theme park. Muye replied with a simple "Happy birthday." Chu Tianqi had reserved an entire restaurant for Yiyi's birthday dinner. During their meal, he inquired about Rococo's investment in her mechanical arm.
Yiyi explained that she refused their money because she didn't want to commercialize the arm, and after some initial disagreement, Chu Tianqi expressed his support for her decision. He then received an urgent work call from his assistant, urging him to meet Peter Chen to prevent losing a business opportunity. Understanding, Yiyi urged him to attend to his business, agreeing to wait for him to return for cake.
Chu Tianqi hurried off to meet Angel, who confronted him about "that night," accusing him of dismissing their encounter as merely an adult affair. Angel, heartbroken and angry about his reconciliation with Yiyi, demanded to know what she lacked compared to Yiyi, refusing to leave despite Chu Tianqi's attempts to send her home. Yiyi waited at the restaurant until it closed, but Chu Tianqi never returned.
Feeling dejected, she overheard birthday wishes on the car radio on her way home and resolved not to let her 30th birthday end disappointingly. She decided to go to the theme park alone. At the theme park, which was already closed, Yiyi found Fang Muye waiting for her. Muye used his powers to illuminate the carousel, bringing it to life for her.
He then subtly manipulated time, winding back the clock just enough to ensure Yiyi could make her birthday wishes before midnight. Yiyi made three wishes: for world peace, for the good health of her family and friends, and for Muye's grandmother to recover and wake up soon so Muye would be happy. Muye, assuming her final wish would be about Chu Tianqi, decided not to listen.
As Yiyi and Muye walked home together, they were spotted by Chu Tianqi, who had been waiting for Yiyi at her home entrance and appeared displeased. Meanwhile, Meng Sizhuo was confronted at his gym by a girl named Sisi, who claimed they had spent a night together. She falsely asserted she was underage, presenting a fake ID, and demanded money, holding him responsible.
Meng Sizhuo recalled that after buying all the movie tickets for Miaomiao and Muye, he had called some women to party and drink to relieve his frustration, which led to his encounter with Sisi. Unnerved, he gave her some money. Later, Jiang Yiyi was excitedly preparing for her trip to Dali with Chu Tianqi, showing Fang Muye the new clothes she bought.
Muye, however, seemed indifferent, criticizing her revealing dress as unsuitable for a nature reserve and reminding her about the cold nights there. Yiyi expressed her hesitation about the trip, feeling it was moving too fast, but also acknowledged it was a college promise and that Chu Tianqi had made a great effort by taking leave for her.
Muye, having received a notification from Grandpa Hu about his upcoming Guardian promotion training, became annoyed by her indecision and told Yiyi to make up her own mind. The next day, Fang Muye arrived at a grassy field for his Guardian promotion training as instructed by Grandpa Hu. Despite Grandpa Hu initially suggesting it would be a good, sunny day for training, it began to rain at Muye's location.
He called Grandpa Hu, who explained that Guardian training follows nature's course, requiring trainees to maintain calm and focus regardless of weather, achieving physical and mental unity, just as their ancestors did. Grandpa Hu also instructed Muye to turn off his phone to prevent magnetic field interference and playfully teased him about rushing to dance with his sweetheart.
Episode 14 Recap
While Fang Muye prepared for his Guardian initiation training, he found himself distracted and unable to focus, receiving unsolicited messages and wondering if Jiang Yiyi had safely arrived in Yunnan. Meanwhile, Jiang Yiyi, pondering why Fang Muye had suddenly crossed her mind on her way home, was busy preparing for her trip to Yunnan the next day.
Chu Tianqi had already booked a five-star hotel for their trip to Cang Mountain and Erhai Lake, but Yiyi insisted on staying in a hostel or tent, and Chu Tianqi eventually compromised by canceling the hotel reservation. Uncertain about what to bring for the trip, she called Fang Muye for advice. He provided detailed suggestions, including packing a jacket, hiking boots, and various medications for motion sickness, mosquito repellent, altitude sickness, and allergies.
Jiang Yiyi quickly located the allergy medicine in his room's second drawer before abruptly hanging up, much to Fang Muye's annoyance. Jiang Yiyi and Chu Tianqi successfully arrived in Yunnan but got lost while trying to find their hostel. Chu Tianqi, already concerned about an urgent teleconference with his assistant Sally, expressed his frustration over the delay, noting a road block would add another hour.
He reassured Jiang Yiyi that she was a very important person to him, then pointed out that phones could also be used for taking pictures. Upon finally reaching the "Mumen Hostel," Chu Tianqi was immediately put off by the small room and a lingering smell, which the owner attributed to humidity. The room also lacked a tapestry Jiang Yiyi had seen in online pictures, as it had been purchased by a previous guest.
Jiang Yiyi tried to lighten the mood by offering Chu Tianqi local plum wine and candied fruits, which he disliked. As Chu Tianqi began his urgent teleconference, discussing a market analysis and a potential business leak with Sally, the hostel experienced a sudden power cut. He was forced to continue the call in the courtyard by candlelight.
During his call, Jiang Yiyi, easily distracted by a talking bird, wandered around, seemingly looking for a better signal for Chu Tianqi's call, then called Fang Muye. She chatted excitedly with him about the bird and her trip. Chu Tianqi overheard her mention Fang Muye's name and, visibly annoyed, called out to Jiang Yiyi, who promptly ended her call. He then noticed her arm was red and itchy, likely an allergic reaction.
She mentioned Fang Muye had advised her to bring allergy medicine. Chu Tianqi expressed his irritation, questioning why Fang Muye seemed to have so much free time to talk to her daily. Jiang Yiyi defended Fang Muye, explaining that he was busy but always available when she needed him. The hostel owner then informed them that there would be no hot water after 7 PM.
Jiang Yiyi apologized for the inconvenience, but Chu Tianqi, without acknowledging her apology, immediately called his secretary to book another hotel. He then told Jiang Yiyi they needed to pack and leave at once, stating that the poor living conditions and lack of signal were impacting his business schedule. Meanwhile, Meng Sizhuo’s pursuer, Sisi, repeatedly appeared at the gym demanding money. Miao Miao, having witnessed this several times, confronted Meng Sizhuo, suspecting Sisi was blackmailing him.
Meng Sizhuo admitted he had been drunk one night and didn't remember much, and that he wouldn't have gone home with Sisi if he'd known she was a minor. Miao Miao, however, was skeptical of Sisi’s claim to be underage. After doing some research, Miao Miao discovered Sisi’s real name was Wu Bing and she was 22, not a minor, as evidenced by school records and pictures from primary, middle, and high school, with teachers and classmates able to testify.
When Meng Sizhuo tried to give Sisi 10,000 yuan to make her leave him alone, Miao Miao intervened, exposing Sisi's history of scamming wealthy men by changing names. Sisi, humiliated, fled. Meng Sizhuo was greatly impressed by Miao Miao's resourcefulness, proclaiming her his "goddess of justice" and vowing to follow her for life.
Upon moving to the luxurious five-star hotel, Jiang Yiyi apologized for the hostel issues, but Chu Tianqi blamed her for deviating from his original plans, arguing that adhering to them would have prevented all problems and saved wasted time. Jiang Yiyi countered that he hadn't consulted her before changing hotels. Their discussion was interrupted when Chu Tianqi's business partner recognized him. Chu Tianqi introduced Jiang Yiyi simply as "my friend," which visibly saddened her.
As Chu Tianqi engrossed himself in a detailed discussion about expanding his business to Southeast Asia, Jiang Yiyi, feeling neglected, decided to go for a walk alone. She visited a large tree in "Love Village," where she drew a fortune stick. The prophecy read: "If you want to know the answer, go southeast." Perplexed, she wondered if her happiness truly lay in the southeast, given that Chu Tianqi was waiting for her in the hotel, which was in the west.
Her contemplation was cut short by a call from Chu Tianqi, and she agreed to return. Later, at a local restaurant, Chu Tianqi and Jiang Yiyi were presented with unique local dishes featuring insects and raw pork rind. Chu Tianqi, clearly unenthused by the "weird bugs," tried to avoid eating them. Jiang Yiyi insisted he try a dish called "A Hero Saves the Damsel," explaining it was meant for the man to taste first to show bravery.
Chu Tianqi seized an incoming work call as an excuse to momentarily escape the table. While he was away, Jiang Yiyi took photos of the dishes and sent them to Fang Muye, who immediately identified them. She even video-chatted with him, joking that she would pretend the protein-rich bugs were chicken. When Chu Tianqi returned and saw her still on her phone with Fang Muye, he snatched the phone away, expressing his annoyance.
He then declared he couldn't eat such strange food and suggested they go to another restaurant. While shopping, Jiang Yiyi spotted a dream catcher that Fang Muye had been looking for. She immediately took pictures and called him to ask about his preferred color, completely oblivious when Chu Tianqi tried to tell her he was going to buy drinks. After purchasing the dream catcher, she realized Chu Tianqi was gone.
Unable to reach him by phone, she sent him a voice message saying she would wait for him at the hotel. Back at the hotel, Jiang Yiyi was chatting with Fang Muye when he called her back. He asked if she had been looking for him and how her day was. She excitedly told him about her enjoyable day in Dali and her plan to hike Southeast Mountain tomorrow morning, citing the fortune stick's prediction.
She quickly ended the call when Chu Tianqi returned. He complained about her being late and his inability to reach her, explaining he had been worried and searching for her all over Huanhai West Road. Jiang Yiyi realized her voice message informing him she was returning to the hotel had failed to send and apologized. Chu Tianqi, eager to move past the incident, told her to get some rest so they could climb Cang Mountain as planned the next day.
However, Jiang Yiyi declared she no longer wanted to climb Cang Mountain and wished to go to Southeast Mountain instead. Chu Tianqi grew agitated, reminding her that climbing Cang Mountain was a promise from their university days and that he had put aside work to be with her, only for her to constantly disrupt his plans and break rules. He voiced his dislike for surprises and chaos, feeling she was making everything spiral out of control.
Jiang Yiyi, in turn, expressed her frustration, feeling he was always preoccupied with work and that she was the only one truly enjoying their trip. She wanted someone who would simply be present with her every day, not someone constantly pursuing a "brighter future." Chu Tianqi retorted, accusing her of wanting someone "all muscles and no brain."
Their argument escalated, with Jiang Yiyi telling him to "just go," echoing his actions from two years prior, and they parted ways in anger. The next morning, Jiang Yiyi went alone to climb Southeast Mountain. Midway up, she began to experience breathing difficulties and was about to collapse when Fang Muye suddenly appeared, catching her just in time.
Episode 15 Recap
Jiang Yiyi left a note for Chu Tianqi, explaining that she needed time alone to find her own answers. She expressed how, in the two years they had been apart, she had learned to eat, watch movies, and travel alone, discovering different joys in life. She wanted to explore more possibilities and walk her own path, rather than just being the girl who always relied on him.
She didn't want to upset his plans or be a burden, desiring to find what she truly wanted. That morning, while Chu Tianqi was looking for her, Jiang Yiyi had already set off to climb Southeast Mountain alone. Meanwhile, Fang Muye was training on the mountain, feeling his powers grow stronger. He wondered if this was because Jiang Yiyi was happier with Chu Tianqi, assuming they were back together. After an exhausting climb, Jiang Yiyi finally reached the summit.
She cried out, asking where her answer to happiness was. Looking at the beautiful view of the ocean and sky, she realized that happiness meant following her heart, regardless of her age. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her chest and struggled to breathe, nearly fainting. Fang Muye appeared just in time to catch her. Dazed, Jiang Yiyi thought she was dreaming and asked him to stay with her a little longer to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Fang Muye carried the unconscious Jiang Yiyi back to her hotel room and cared for her, but quickly teleported away when he heard Chu Tianqi approaching. Jiang Yiyi woke to find Chu Tianqi by her side. He told her she had passed out on the mountain and he had bought some medicine for her. He offered her porridge and apologized for their argument the previous night, saying he shouldn't have yelled.
Fang Muye, watching from outside the door, felt a pang of sadness. Jiang Yiyi, however, simply told Chu Tianqi that she wanted to go home. Upon returning home, Jiang Yiyi immediately looked for Fang Muye. When he opened the door, coming back from buying groceries, she rushed to him and hugged him tightly. At that moment, Fang Muye's real wings spread, but he quickly used his powers to make them vanish before Jiang Yiyi could see them.
He asked why she was back so soon and how her trip to Dali was. Jiang Yiyi, though her trip hadn't been enjoyable, lied and said she had a great time. Later, in her room, she received a text from Chu Tianqi asking about her moving arrangements, to which she replied that she needed more time to reconsider. The next morning, Fang Muye was preparing breakfast.
He asked Jiang Yiyi if she and Chu Tianqi were back together, assuming they were since they were living together. He urged her to make a decision quickly, as her indecision was affecting him, mentioning that he kept answering her phone and couldn't finish his work. Jiang Yiyi retorted that he didn't have to answer if he didn't want to.
Just then, Meng Sizuo arrived, returning Gulu, the dog he and the gym staff had been caring for while Jiang Yiyi was away. He also brought a package for Jiang Yiyi. Inside, she found an invitation to the Annual Inventors' Costume Party. Meng Sizuo was excited, noting that Jiang Yiyi's third-generation sweeping robot was a finalist and that a co-partner was required to receive an award.
Jiang Yiyi revealed she had already listed Fang Muye as her co-partner because he had an engineering background and met the requirements. She even confessed to using his number to register for various discounts, and insisted he accompany her to the event. Fang Muye's ordered wing model arrived, and Jiang Yiyi found it interesting, remarking that she wished she had an angel guardian to grant her wishes.
Fang Muye, smiling knowingly, offered to be her angel and grant her three wishes as a belated birthday gift. Initially hesitant and jokingly calling him a "door god," Jiang Yiyi eventually revealed her desires: a pair of satin high heels that had been discontinued two years ago, a rare Lego merry-go-round model, and to become a "full-figured bombshell" with a C-cup.
Fang Muye was slightly embarrassed by the last wish, but thinking she would soon move out, he decided to consider them parting gifts. The following morning, Jiang Yiyi awoke to find the high heels and Lego model beside her bed. She excitedly hugged Fang Muye, exclaiming that he truly was her angel.
Fang Muye, confirming her belief, then presented her with a bottle of papaya oil, explaining he could help with other things, but not her third wish, much to her annoyance. Later, Fang Muye, wearing the fake angel wings he had made, joined Jiang Yiyi and Meng Sizuo at the Annual Inventors' Costume Party. As they entered, guests had to get a stamp on their arms. While receiving his stamp, Fang Muye felt a sudden dizziness.
Unbeknownst to them, in Rococo's lab, Peter Chen's research team observed critical data fluctuations on their screens, realizing the implanted tracking chip was active. The chip, disguised as an entry stamp, was designed to track Fang Muye and collect his genetic data and energy. Inside the party, Meng Sizuo enthusiastically socialized, taking photos with various guests and boasting to Fang Muye. Fang Muye then asked Meng Sizuo when he developed feelings for Miaomiao.
Meng Sizuo then recalled a high school memory: Miaomiao was tutoring him in English, patiently helping him with pronunciation despite his frequent distractions. When he scored an unusually high 85 on a test, their teacher accused him of cheating. Miaomiao, without hesitation, vouched for Meng Sizuo, presenting their practice tests as proof of his improvement and boldly confronted the teacher about making accusations without evidence. For her defiance, both were punished, holding signs as a public reprimand.
From that day on, Meng Sizuo saw Miaomiao as his "Goddess of Justice," his Athena. He confided in Fang Muye that while everyone saw her as a strict model student, he always knew she would become a captivating woman, but lamented that she only saw him as a friend, a friendship he feared losing. Fang Muye advised him to formulate a plan and act on it.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yiyi was enjoying the buffet when she overheard two women disparaging her sweeping robot invention, calling her earlier model "rubbish" and questioning her recognition as an "Outstanding Young Inventor." Fang Muye told her to ignore them. While Jiang Yiyi stepped away to the restroom, Fang Muye subtly used his powers to get a small revenge on the two critical women. After the awards ceremony, where Jiang Yiyi was recognized as an "Outstanding Young Inventor," the party officially began.
Jiang Yiyi invited Fang Muye to dance, genuinely thanking him. She explained that she had put his name on the invitation because his help had been instrumental in her inventions' significant progress. As Fang Muye experienced this moment of happiness, his real wings inadvertently emerged, but his costume's fake wings concealed them from everyone.
Back at Rococo's lab, the research team reported to Peter Chen that Fang Muye's energy levels fluctuated significantly whenever he used his powers, and with the chip now active, they were ready to extract his energy. Peter Chen approved, and his team confirmed they would monitor him closely and collect the energy once ordered. As the party concluded, Meng Sizuo and Fang Muye encountered Peng Tao outside.
Meng Sizuo, unable to control his temper, confronted Peng Tao and was quickly overpowered. Fang Muye told Jiang Yiyi to go home safely and rushed to Meng Sizuo's aid. However, when Peng Tao choked Fang Muye, and Fang Muye attempted to use his powers, the energy unexpectedly dissipated, and he collapsed onto the ground. In the lab, Peter Chen's team reported that the energy extraction program was abruptly terminated.
They discovered that some internal mechanism within Fang Muye's body was resisting their efforts, and it would take about a week to repair their program. Frustrated by this unexpected setback, Peter Chen concluded that they would need to make better use of Jiang Yiyi as bait in their future plans.
Episode 16 Recap
After a confrontation with Peng Tao, Meng Sizhuo helped a disoriented Fang Muye return home. Jiang Yiyi, observing their disheveled state, inquired about what had occurred. Meng Sizhuo explained they had encountered Peng Tao outside a bar, describing him as "up to no good" and even stating he "wanted to kill them."
Fang Muye, recalling his sudden faint and picking up a mysterious medicine bottle that had fallen from Peng Tao during the struggle, pondered its significance and the reason for his collapse. At the gym, Fang Muye searched for information on Peng Tao. He discovered that the contact number provided in Peng Tao's profile was a dead end.
Further investigation revealed that Peng Tao's hormone levels were "twice that of an American serial killer," significantly higher than normal, indicating a profound change in him. Fang Muye expressed his frustration at being unable to track Peng Tao down. Meanwhile, at Rococo, it was revealed that Peng Tao had become a test subject for their drug trials, which proved effective and worked "faster on ordinary people."
With Fang Muye now confirmed as their primary target, Chen Peter considered Shi Liang "basically useless." Feeling an unsettling instability in his powers, marked by fatigue and fainting spells, Fang Muye sought a check-up from Grandpa Hu. Grandpa Hu detected an erratic pulse, prompting him to ask if Fang Muye had violated any guardian rules.
Fang Muye attempted to deflect, claiming he had only "joked with Jiang Yiyi that I'm a guardian angel," but Grandpa Hu saw through his facade, deducing his true feelings. He sternly warned Fang Muye about the "dangerous" emotional boundary between a Guardian and their ward, emphasizing that "the feeling of being attracted is what they call 'love'." Grandpa Hu, observing Fang Muye's eyes, concluded he was "in love."
He explained that if a Guardian falls in love with their ward, they must observe three days of "silent meditation" to "control your emotions" and "clear your head," thereby clarifying the distinction between love and friendship. Breaking this sacred rule, he warned, would put the ward in danger. Initially, Fang Muye contemplated leaving for three days to comply, but a message from Jiang Yiyi asking if he was free led him to join her instead.
While shopping, Jiang Yiyi sought his opinion on various shoes. He remained silent due to his vow, but when she mentioned meeting Chu Tianqi, he inadvertently spoke. Later, Jiang Yiyi experienced a series of minor mishaps, including having ice cream splattered on her and narrowly avoiding being hit by a car, leading her to believe she was having bad luck.
Fang Muye, witnessing these events, realized that his broken silence was indeed causing her misfortune and acknowledged his inability to maintain his meditation while living under the same roof with her. His mystical device then displayed a "warning": breaking the rules during meditation would result in "innocent people get hurt" and "put your ward in danger." Desperate for a solution, Fang Muye consulted Meng Sizhuo on how to make a girl keep her distance.
Meng Sizhuo, professing expertise in gracefully ending relationships, proposed a two-step strategy. First, Fang Muye should make himself look like "a mess." Fang Muye cluttered their home and adopted a disheveled appearance, but Jiang Yiyi found it amusing, even taking photos, and remained entirely unfazed. The second suggestion was to "flirt with other women." Fang Muye attempted this at the gym, but Jiang Yiyi appeared indifferent, rendering the strategy "useless."
Meng Sizhuo, surprised by Fang Muye's determination to push Jiang Yiyi away, commented that she was a great girl and "it's not a crime to like somebody." He further suggested that the only remaining option was to "make Jiang Yiyi truly angry," but warned Fang Muye that if he broke her heart, he couldn't help him fix it. This was, in fact, Fang Muye's strategic move, cleverly designed to use a love rival to distract Jiang Yiyi.
On her way home, Jiang Yiyi encountered Chu Tianqi waiting for her outside her home. He stated that she had been avoiding him since their trip to Dali and took the initiative to invite her out. He brought her to the restaurant where they had their first meal in Shanghai. Observing them from a distance, Fang Muye acknowledged this strategy was effective, yet he felt increasingly "unhappy" and heartbroken watching their interaction.
Jiang Yiyi accepted Chu Tianqi's apology for past events and reciprocated, saying she should apologize too, and they shared a comfortable meal. At Lazy Fun, during a scheduled power cut for electrical repairs, Anji accessed Jiang Yiyi's computer and maliciously deleted all her robotic arm data. This occurred just before a crucial presentation to Mr. Chen from Rococo, forcing Jiang Yiyi and her colleagues to frantically work to restore the lost data.
At the gym, Meng Sizhuo displayed uncharacteristic enthusiasm, vigorously trying to recruit new clients, even planning to target older customers at square dances. Miao Miao noticed his strange behavior and expressed concern, asking if he had "something on his mind." Meng Sizhuo, visibly emotional, hugged Miao Miao, acknowledging her care, and explained that after the "Sisi incident," he was determined to "focus on work" and "change." Jiang Yiyi met Shuyi, Shi Liang's wife, at a dessert shop.
Jiang Yiyi explained her robotic arm project might help Shi Liang "live like a normal person again." Shuyi, appearing hesitant and nervous, arranged to meet at a coffee shop later. While Jiang Yiyi waited, Chu Tianqi called, seeking her opinion on a "fish-viewing bracelet" and offering to pick her up. Jiang Yiyi sent him the coffee shop address. When Shuyi arrived, she refused to enter the coffee shop, appearing anxious and revealing someone had been "following me since yesterday."
She then led Jiang Yiyi to a crowded area. As Fang Muye prepared to leave the gym for the night, he suddenly found himself trapped within an invisible energy sphere, unable to escape. He realized that "Yiyi is in danger." He desperately shouted for help and hit the energy sphere with his wings, but all his efforts were in vain. Meanwhile, Shuyi and Jiang Yiyi were being pursued by motorcyclists.
In the gym, a cleaner found a missing "part of a machine" that had fallen from Fang Muye's alarm clock and gave it to Miao Miao. Miao Miao, hearing Fang Muye's distressed calls from within the sphere—which she perceived as his voice but couldn't comprehend—reconnected the part to the alarm clock. At that moment, Chu Tianqi arrived, rescuing Jiang Yiyi and Shuyi in his car, though the motorcyclists continued their relentless chase.
Fang Muye, now free from the energy sphere, arrived at the scene but missed seeing Jiang Yiyi. Using his powers, he commandeered a large truck, skillfully using it to block the pursuing motorcyclists and apprehend them. After the harrowing escape, Chu Tianqi asked if everyone was hurt and proposed calling the police. Shuyi, looking "frightened," immediately objected, claiming there was "no evidence" and that the police wouldn't believe them. She discreetly slipped a folder between the car seats.
At Rococo, Chen Peter was informed that his plan had failed due to Jiang Yiyi's involvement. He reflected on his long search for Fang Muye, recalling finding a non-functioning pocket watch after witnessing a young Fang Muye miraculously land safely after falling from a swing. Rococo researchers confirmed that the chip implanted in Fang Muye was successfully collecting his genomic data and absorbing his powers, and his recent "disorder" was attributed to "abusing super powers."
Chu Tianqi urged Jiang Yiyi to stay at his place for safety, but she declined, citing the convenience of working on her robotic arm at home. Returning home, Jiang Yiyi looked for Fang Muye. She mused on how he consistently appeared whenever she was in danger, turning crises into opportunities, and wondered, "Fang Muye, who on earth are you?"
Episode 17 Recap
In an underground parking garage, Peng Tao cornered Vivian, pleading for her help as he claimed to be at his wit's end. Vivian found his behavior strange and tried to break free, insisting their relationship was over. As they struggled, Chu Tianqi, who was also parking, intervened. Peng Tao reluctantly let go of Vivian, lamenting his current state.
He confessed that Rococo had used him as a guinea pig, subjecting him to painful experiments that had turned him into a "monster." The following morning, Fang Muye was sore all over from a fight he had the previous night. Jiang Yiyi noticed his discomfort during breakfast, asking where he had been and why he was back so late.
Muye lied, saying he went for a late-night run and simply went to bed after getting tired, even fabricating a story about a leaf given by someone named Xi. Yiyi, noticing his dirty clothes and sore foot, urged him to take a shower first. Later, at the gym, Miaomiao expressed concern over Muye's serious injuries.
Muye seized the opportunity to ask Miaomiao for Peng Tao's address or family information, but she knew nothing, only suggesting his address might be on the entry form. Meanwhile, Meng Sizuo, seeing Miaomiao and Muye talking, became visibly jealous and shooed Miaomiao away. Miaomiao then asked Muye if he thought Sizuo had been acting weird, but Sizuo appeared before Muye could answer, further displaying his possessiveness over Miaomiao.
Jiang Yiyi, recalling Muye's timely appearances whenever she was in danger, decided to test her hypothesis. She deliberately stood in the middle of a busy street, hoping to get into an accident, but she failed to account for the traffic lights. Her second attempt involved climbing to the company rooftop, intending to see if Muye would save her, but Vivian caught her there, putting an end to that plan. Unbeknownst to Yiyi, Fang Muye was aware of her attempts.
At Lazy Fun Creative Company, Yiyi's demonstration of a robotic arm to Chen Peter and Chu Tianqi ended in failure, leaving Chen Peter disappointed. After the meeting, Yiyi apologized to Chen Peter, who then offered to reconsider sponsorship if Yiyi and Fang Muye agreed to develop the robotic arm in Rococo's lab and share all data with Rococo. He emphasized that Muye would be needed. Yiyi said she would consider the offer.
Fang Muye visited Grandpa Hu, a Guardian, and joined him in meditation. Muye expressed concern about recent physical anomalies and strange dreams, describing a peculiar space he couldn't escape. Grandpa Hu, seemingly unfazed, advised him not to worry and to focus on his training. Still uneasy, Muye decided to leave his alarm clock with Grandpa Hu for safekeeping, worrying that his "clock" might be malfunctioning. Later, Meng Sizuo insisted on driving Miaomiao to a classmate reunion.
Noticing her dressed up, he asked about the occasion. At the bar, a former high school classmate named Xiao Xiong, who used to pursue Miaomiao, invited her to dance. Sizuo immediately stepped in, rejected the invitation on her behalf, and warned the man to stay away from Miaomiao. He then exposed Xiao Xiong's past philandering by putting up flyers detailing his "love affairs," embarrassing him.
Later, Sizuo told Miaomiao not to hang out with Xiao Xiong anymore, and in a private conversation with another male friend, stated that if he couldn't be with Miaomiao, neither could anyone else, highlighting his intense possessiveness. This interaction highlighted a subtle shift in the dynamic between Miaomiao and Sizuo. Chu Tianqi accompanied Jiang Yiyi to meet Chen Peter, finalizing the collaboration with Rococo.
Chen Peter also informed Tianqi that Rococo would not be proceeding with their proposed joint venture in Malaysia, as Rococo had decided to invest independently in that market. Yiyi, concerned about Shi Liang's family, inquired about his situation. Chen Peter admitted to hearing about his wife's debt and promised to help Shi Liang financially on a personal basis, which Yiyi greatly appreciated. After Chen Peter left, Tianqi suggested they visit a nearby book fair.
However, Yiyi received an urgent call from Miaomiao, who reported that Muye's grandmother seemed to be showing signs of waking up. Yiyi immediately canceled her plans with Tianqi and rushed to Muye's old residence. At Muye's home, Yiyi found that the grandmother's caregiver was neglectful, often exaggerating the grandmother's condition to demand a higher salary.
Muye, having lost faith in the caregiver, fired her and decided to personally look after his grandmother after taking her to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor confirmed the grandmother's condition was stable but noted bedsores, indicating the caregiver had not followed instructions for regular cleaning and massages. Muye felt guilty for his carelessness. Yiyi stayed by Muye's side, helping to care for his grandmother and offering comfort, deeply moving Muye.
Yiyi talked to the unconscious grandmother, sharing stories about Muye and urging her to wake up, bringing in a philodendron, also known as tortoise bamboo, as a symbol of hope for a long life. Yiyi reassured Muye, telling him she believed in miracles because of him. Muye asked Yiyi to go home as it was late, but she insisted on staying to help with potential paperwork. Meanwhile, Angel confronted Chu Tianqi, urging him to return to the U. S.
with her to manage her father's company, believing it would also benefit his career and that she was the right partner for him. Tianqi politely but firmly refused, stating he preferred to achieve his goals, including love, on his own terms. He reiterated that his heart belonged only to Yiyi. Agitated by his rejection, Angel, who had a heart condition, fainted in his arms.
Tianqi rushed her to the hospital and called her father, who arranged for immediate surgery in the U. S. Angel tearfully pleaded with Tianqi to accompany her, but he gently declined, advising her to face reality and move on. Angel swore that Tianqi would pay for his refusal. The next day, news broke that Tianqi's company, Ruixing Group, had suffered a massive blow. Major investors had withdrawn their funds, leading to project suspensions and a loss of millions.
Chu Tianqi was suspended and reported missing. Yiyi, seeing the news, desperately tried to contact him. She received a text message from Tianqi telling her not to worry, that he was okay, and not to look for him. Back home, Muye was overwhelmed by intense body pain and disorientation. The chip implanted by Rococo had activated, continuously monitoring his data.
Rococo's researchers, in communication with Chen Peter, reported that data extraction was now normal and were instructed to retrieve any lost data from the past week. Yiyi, upon returning, found Muye burning with fever. As she tried to call for help, he gripped her hand, pleading with her not to leave and to stay with him forever. In that moment, a pair of nascent wings unfurled from his back, leaving Yiyi stunned.
Episode 18 Recap
After witnessing Fang Muye’s wings and recalling countless moments he had appeared by her side, Yiyi finally understood that he had been sacrificing his own happiness for hers. Overcome with emotion, tears streamed down her face. Later, to vent her feelings, Yiyi spent an entire afternoon vigorously exercising at the gym. Afterwards, she invited Sizhuo and Miaomiao to dinner. At the restaurant, Yiyi probed them about Muye’s childhood, asking if they had ever noticed anything strange or different about him.
Miaomiao recalled that when Muye was a child, he often spoke of waiting for someone, though she didn’t know who that person was. The next morning, Yiyi prepared breakfast for Fang Muye and a special tonic for his grandma. Fang Muye noticed her unusual kindness and asked why she was being so good to him. Yiyi explained that he had always taken care of her, and it was her turn as his roommate to do something for him.
She encouraged him to share if anything was on his mind. As they ate, news on TV reported that Chu Tianqi, CEO of Ruixing, was taking temporary leave. Concerned, Yiyi rushed to Chu Tianqi’s home. She found his place in disarray and expressed her worry, especially about his suspension. She offered him her entire savings of 200,000 yuan, collected from her own money and some friends, and even suggested asking Mr. Chen for an early payout of her benefits.
Chu Tianqi appreciated her kindness, admitting that his career, which he thought was his life’s meaning, had crumbled, but he was grateful to still have her. However, when he made an affectionate gesture, Yiyi subtly avoided it. She told him that she now considered him a very important friend and hoped he would be alright. She explained that someone else had been gradually changing her, and she needed time to think carefully about her feelings.
As Yiyi left, Chu Tianqi wondered if she was referring to Fang Muye. Fang Muye's grandma’s condition suddenly worsened, and she was rushed into surgery. Yiyi hurried to the hospital to comfort a distraught Muye, reassuring him that his grandma would get well. Doctors informed Muye that his grandma was out of danger but would require more thorough examinations to determine the cause of her sudden decline, as her brain functions appeared normal.
Despite the good news, Muye began to question if his proximity to Yiyi was impeding her happiness and, consequently, delaying his grandma’s recovery. He spoke to his unconscious grandma, asking if her illness was a result of him getting too close to Yiyi. He urged her to wake up and tell him. He reflected on his role as a Guardian, feeling useless compared to the dedicated nurses, and questioned his own identity.
Ultimately, he decided that for Yiyi’s happiness and his grandma’s recovery, he had to let Yiyi go, despite how much it pained him. Muye dreamt of Yiyi, holding her hand tightly. He woke to find himself holding Sizhuo’s hand instead. Sizhuo explained that Miaomiao had swapped their shifts so Muye could rest, assuring him he would care for Grandma. Sizhuo mentioned that Yiyi had just left, prompting Muye to rush out in pursuit.
He found Yiyi at a coffee shop, where she had been overhearing reporters discussing the mysterious disappearance of Shi Liang and Rococo's alleged mistreatment of him. Yiyi told Muye she had woken up an hour early to visit him and Grandma at the hospital before work. Muye, stifling his own desire to be with her, urged her to focus on Chu Tianqi and stop worrying about him and Grandma.
He insisted he could care for Grandma alone and that her visits wouldn't help. Yiyi, stressed and hurt by his words, apologized and said she wouldn't come if he was tired of her, then left for work. Muye, heartbroken, silently confessed that he wanted to see her every day and be with her forever, but questioned if he could be so selfish given his grandma’s condition. Yiyi later went to Rococo, encountering the same reporters she’d overheard earlier.
Peter Chen pressed her to start working on the robotic arm, explaining that research staff and materials were all in place, waiting for her. Yiyi hesitated, admitting her concern for Mr. Shi Liang, whose robotic arm she designed to help him return to his field. She asked if Shi Liang would be involved in their experiments. Peter Chen claimed Shi Liang had disappeared after an experiment, escaping the ward and destroying expensive medical equipment.
To protect Shi Liang's reputation, the company had suppressed the news, stating the experiment was confidential. Peter Chen then asked Yiyi to inform him if she found anything about Shi Liang, her former neighbor. Yiyi, still doubtful, visited Shi Liang’s house, only to learn from a neighbor that both Shi Liang and his wife had disappeared long ago, and his sister had hired an agent to sell the house, with the child gone with the sister.
Yiyi was confused, wondering what was truly happening. Meanwhile, Fang Muye was teaching a fitness class but felt extremely weak and dizzy. Intending to go to the hospital, he inexplicably teleported to Grandfather Hu's house instead. Grandfather Hu noted Muye’s inner energy was unstable. Muye described feeling constantly tired, as if his energy was continuously leaking, even without using his powers.
Grandfather Hu admitted he had never encountered such a situation and mentioned that all his Guardian self-rescue manuals had disappeared overnight. He advised Muye that developing his potential was a long process and promised to find a way to replenish his energy. Separately, Chu Tianqi discovered an envelope in his car containing a suppressed news release from Rococo, revealing they had tested drugs on Shi Liang, who was now in extreme danger.
Recognizing this as an opportunity, Chu Tianqi met with company executives. He confidently declared his ability to dominate the Malaysian market and requested the reinstatement of his position. He assured them he would act decisively to maximize profits and leave nothing for competitors, though for now, he would bide his time. Yiyi ultimately decided to accept the position at Rococo. Fang Muye drove her there, where he unexpectedly saw Peng Tao leaving the building, looking unwell.
Muye secretly followed Peng Tao, who met with Chu Tianqi. It turned out Chu Tianqi, now aware of Rococo's drug trials, had made a deal with Peng Tao to steal medicine from Rococo’s lab, promising him compensation. Muye observed Peng Tao re-entering Rococo and used his teleportation ability to follow him into Peter Chen’s research lab. There, Muye found an antique pocket watch on Peter Chen's desk. Feeling it was significant, he took it to Grandfather Hu.
Grandfather Hu recognized it as a Guardian's token and surmised that its owner had been imprisoned for a long time. He promised to try and repair it. Back at Rococo, Peter Chen was furious about the missing watch, questioning how it could have disappeared from his lab despite the world’s most advanced security systems.
A researcher reported that although alarms were silent, their supernatural power tracking computer detected an abnormal brainwave surge the previous night, indicating supernatural interference, and suggested the watch disappeared during that period. Peter Chen understood, then opened a cabinet and retrieved a mask, seemingly preparing to confront Muye. Later, Muye asked Yiyi if Chu Tianqi and Peter Chen’s companies had any collaborations involving medicine. Yiyi explained their cooperation focused on patents and technologies for sportswear and outdoor equipment, not medicine.
Holding a medicine bottle he had obtained from Peng Tao, Muye was left confused, trying to connect Peng Tao’s apparent symptoms with a drug trial, Chu Tianqi’s transaction with Peng Tao, and what Chu Tianqi intended to gain from Peter Chen, especially if Rococo was not supposedly developing medicine. He couldn’t piece together the intricate web of connections.
Episode 19 Recap
Early one morning, as Yiyi was preparing breakfast, she saw a news report about Ruixing Company's recent setback, causing her to worry about Chu Tianqi. Coincidentally, he sent her a text message asking if she was free and waiting for her at home. She went to his house, where he showed her a virtual reality simulation of a beautiful seaside villa, part of his dream retirement plan.
He sincerely expressed that he had always believed a man should establish his career before starting a family, leading him to overlook Yiyi's decade-long wait. He produced a ring and proposed, asking her to marry him and thanking her for her long-standing presence in his life. However, just then, Yiyi received a call from Shi Liang's daughter, Dandan.
Yiyi gently declined Chu Tianqi's proposal, stating that she hadn't made up her mind and needed more time to consider, before excusing herself to leave. Dandan met Yiyi alone, explaining that her mother had gone missing and had left her a phone containing photos that Dandan believed were connected to her father. Crying, Dandan pleaded with Yiyi to help her find him.
She also gave Yiyi a music box that she and her father had made together, asking her to give it to him if she found him. Yiyi promised to do her best. Fang Muye spent the night searching and identified the address in the photos as a deserted Xinjing Nursing Home. They immediately rushed there, finding the atmosphere eerily unsettling. Inside, they found Shi Liang, his arm bleeding and severely disoriented, unable to recognize anyone.
Yiyi mentioned Dandan, which seemed to stir a faint memory in him. When Yiyi presented him with the music box, Shi Liang calmed down and expressed his desire to go home. As Fang Muye helped Shi Liang to the car, Yiyi realized Shi Liang had forgotten the music box and returned to retrieve it.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to them, Chen Peter had orchestrated the situation, sending Peng Tao, equipped with a mask that could jam Fang Muye's superpowers, to the nursing home. As Fang Muye got Shi Liang into the car, he suddenly had a premonition of Yiyi falling. He instantly teleported back to find Peng Tao holding Yiyi hostage. Fang Muye tried to intervene, but the mask rendered him powerless. Peng Tao then threw Yiyi from the second floor.
Fang Muye managed to catch her before she hit the ground, and a struggle ensued with Fang Muye at a disadvantage. Unexpectedly, Shi Liang reappeared and punched Peng Tao, creating an opportunity for Fang Muye to knock off Peng Tao's mask. Peng Tao retaliated by stabbing Fang Muye in the stomach before fleeing with the mask. Fang Muye then collapsed after ensuring Yiyi was safe.
Fang Muye remained in a deep coma for three days and three nights, with no apparent injuries. Yiyi was at a loss, desperate to help him recover. She visited the hospital and, while sitting alone, wondered how to heal him, expressing her willingness to do anything to see him awaken. A nurse approached her, revealing that she too was a former Guardian, and her ward was a brilliant fellow Guardian named Chen Peter.
She explained that Chen Peter, after his own powers began to wane, became obsessed with Guardian gene research, hoping to reclaim his abilities, which led him down a dark path. She eventually chose to leave him, as she couldn't help someone consumed by evil. The nurse clarified that Guardians achieve their wishes by helping their wards find happiness.
She urged Yiyi to focus on her own happiness, emphasizing that if Fang Muye could help Yiyi find joy, his grandma would have a chance to wake up. The nurse then handed Yiyi a "Tianji hint ball," through which Yiyi fully grasped the truth about Guardians and the connection to Fang Muye's grandma's awakening. Upon returning home, Yiyi lay beside Fang Muye, who was still seemingly unconscious.
She told him that she had decided to accept Chu Tianqi's proposal, believing that her happiness would lead to his grandma's recovery. She encouraged him to wake up, confident that her joyful life would activate the power needed to rouse his grandma. Unbeknownst to Yiyi, Fang Muye had already regained consciousness but chose to remain still, wishing for the precious, fleeting moment of lying beside Yiyi to last forever, undisturbed.
Yiyi then went to Chu Tianqi's house and formally accepted his proposal, vowing to find happiness for Fang Muye's sake. With Yiyi's acceptance, she and Chu Tianqi began planning their wedding, including selecting a wedding dress. Meanwhile, Grandpa Hu diligently continued repairing the antique pocket watch, while Fang Muye dedicated himself to caring for his grandma, though his thoughts often drifted to Yiyi. During a fitting at the bridal shop, Yiyi appeared distracted and distant.
Chu Tianqi noticed her forced smile and wondered when she would stop pretending to be happy, feeling that nothing he did could truly touch her heart. Yiyi then received a call from Meng Sizuo informing her that Fang Muye's grandma had woken up. Her face instantly lit up with genuine joy, and she excitedly told Chu Tianqi that she needed to rush to the hospital, quickly changing out of the dress and leaving.
At the hospital, everyone gathered happily around Fang Muye's grandma, chatting and sharing stories. Later, as Yiyi and Fang Muye were eating, he realized he had lost his sense of taste, pondering the unpredictable future of his Guardian transformation now that his grandma was awake. Meanwhile, Miaomiao's mother relentlessly pushed her into blind dates, arranging two every week. Meng Sizuo, attempting to be her rescuer, discreetly followed her, looking for opportunities to help her escape awkward encounters.
During one date, Miaomiao met Cao Guodong, a banker who had significantly retouched his profile picture and had peculiar habits, such as bringing his own hot water and only drinking expensive tea. As Cao Guodong was asking Miaomiao to dinner, Meng Sizuo called her, cleverly impersonating her grandpa with a fake emergency about a "grandaunt giving birth," providing Miaomiao with a perfect excuse to leave, much to Cao Guodong's annoyance.
Back at the hospital, Yiyi and Fang Muye continued to care for grandma together. Yiyi lovingly combed grandma's hair, applied lip balm and hand cream, and even showed Fang Muye how to massage acupoints to improve circulation. Fang Muye watched them, feeling a profound sense of happiness with the two most important women in his life right before him.
The doctor confirmed that grandma's condition was stable, calling her recovery a miracle, but noted she couldn't speak or walk yet and would benefit more from recuperating at home than in the hospital. Yiyi suggested bringing grandma back to the old house for its fresh air and comforting atmosphere, an idea Fang Muye readily agreed with. Yiyi then received a text reminder from Chu Tianqi about a wedding menu tasting.
Fang Muye inquired about her wedding preparations, and Yiyi, putting on a cheerful facade, told him everything was going well and the ceremony was in two weeks, which clearly pained Fang Muye. As he walked Yiyi to the elevator, he helped a little girl retrieve a balloon that had floated to the ceiling. When the girl offered him a red balloon, he perceived it as white, realizing that he had now lost his sense of color.
Yiyi noticed his reaction but kept silent. Fang Muye suggested Yiyi stop coming to help, but Yiyi insisted, reminding him they were the "best roommates" and that she wanted to do as much as she could for him and grandma before she moved out. Fang Muye, in his heart, silently wished her happiness.
Episode 20 Recap
After sending Yiyi away, Fang Muye visited Hu Grandpa and confessed that he was losing his sense of taste. Hu Grandpa told him this was a positive sign, a "sensory purification process" that ordinary people could only dream of. He revealed that he was also experiencing similar sensory losses, including hearing and sight, and even his teeth were going, questioning if it was purification or simply aging.
Hu Grandpa presented Fang Muye with the repaired pocket watch, explaining it was the best he could do, though it still ran slower than a regular clock. He added that the watch's owner was also a Guardian, and its speed reflected their recovery. Hu Grandpa promised to protect the watch. Later that night, as Fang Muye and Yiyi lay in bed, each lost in their own thoughts.
Yiyi felt she had finally done something good for Fang Muye, believing that accepting Tianqi's proposal had led to Grandma's awakening. She noted that she had never seen Fang Muye so happy and relaxed. Fang Muye, for his part, wondered if Yiyi had truly found happiness and pondered if that was the reason Grandma had woken up. The following day, Yiyi visited Grandma and Fang Muye at the hospital, bringing candied haws.
Fang Muye began feeding Grandma, reminiscing about his childhood when Grandma used to feed him and buy him candied haws because he preferred snacks over regular food. When Yiyi offered him a candied haw, Fang Muye, despite having lost his sense of taste, pretended to enjoy it, describing it as "sweet and sour" and "just like it tasted in my childhood." Internally, he apologized to Yiyi for his deception.
Sizhuo and Miaomiao were also at the hospital, with Sizhuo complimenting Miaomiao to Grandma as a potential good wife, which Miaomiao immediately objected to being called "chubby." Sizhuo also noticed that Grandma's IV drip was slow and her hand was swollen, prompting him to call a nurse. Before Yiyi left, she gave Fang Muye a sealed lipstick, powder, and hand cream for Grandma, asking him to give her massages. Yiyi bid farewell, telling Fang Muye, "Congratulations for your happiness."
Meanwhile, Miaomiao was on another blind date, this time with a plastic surgeon named Mr. Yu. He complimented her beauty and revealed that he was attracted to her because she looked exactly like his late wife, whose face he had personally sculpted. Miaomiao quickly ended the date, stating she wasn't interested in someone living in the past. Sizhuo, who was secretly observing, was pleased by her quick rejection, later telling her that no one would be good enough for her.
Miaomiao resignedly mentioned she was only going on these dates because her mother had paid for a half-year membership. Separately, Peng Tao reported to Chen Peter that Fang Muye's stab wound had healed instantly. Chen Peter, convinced of Fang Muye's special power, instructed Peng Tao to increase his weekly injections from two to three, aiming to make him stronger.
Peng Tao resisted, fearing he would end up like Shi Liang, but Chen Peter asserted that the experiment was at a critical stage and would grant him "supreme gene" and "super powers" he had always dreamed of, effectively forcing him to comply. Fang Muye brought Grandma back to their old countryside home. Yiyi, Sizhuo, and Miaomiao came to visit, bringing flowers and preparing for a barbecue.
Fang Muye tried to peel an apple for Grandma, recalling her past belief that an unbroken apple peel granted wishes. The group cheerfully cooked and ate, with Miaomiao and Sizhuo playfully bickering while Yiyi looked on, musing that friendship, unlike other relationships, brings no sorrow and lasts forever. Sizhuo captured a photo of Fang Muye, Yiyi, and Grandma, amidst their joyful interactions.
Sensing an opportunity for Fang Muye and Yiyi to be alone, Miaomiao and Sizhuo concocted an excuse about needing to go to the gym and left. That night, Yiyi stayed over, as Grandma refused to let her leave. Fang Muye and Yiyi lay in a tent on either side of Grandma, holding hands. Fang Muye thanked Yiyi, remarking that Grandma had a wonderful day.
The next morning, as Yiyi prepared to depart, she told Fang Muye she couldn't come back anymore and asked him to take care. Overcome with emotion, Fang Muye pulled her into a kiss. Both were deeply saddened by the impending separation, shedding tears. Fang Muye urged Yiyi to "just be happy." Yiyi left, heartbroken. Later that day, Fang Muye had prepared lunch for Grandma and tried to wake her up to eat.
He noticed her body was becoming increasingly cold and unresponsive. He desperately hugged her, trying to warm her, but Grandma never woke up. At the same moment, the pocket watch Hu Grandpa had repaired stopped completely, signifying Grandma's passing. Under heavy rain, Fang Muye, Yiyi, Sizhuo, and Miaomiao stood by Grandma's tombstone, grief-stricken. Fang Muye knelt at the grave, unwilling to move, blaming himself for not completing his Guardian task sooner.
Yiyi comforted him, assuring him it wasn't his fault and that Grandma had spent her last days happily and peacefully. Yiyi gently persuaded Fang Muye to return home, but he remained silent, consumed by sorrow and self-blame. Fang Muye later confronted Hu Grandpa at his shop, demanding to know why Grandma had died if Yiyi had found happiness.
He angrily recounted his nine years of effort, following Hu Grandpa's guidance, only for "God" to cruelly take Grandma away after only three days of her waking. He declared his refusal to be a Guardian. Hu Grandpa tried to calm him, reminding him not to disrespect the Guardian mission. He then revealed his true identity: he was not a Mentor but an intern Guardian, just like Fang Muye, who had been waiting for his own objective for thirty years.
He explained that his mentorship was an assigned task to help a twelve-year-old Fang Muye overcome his sorrow. Fang Muye was enraged by the perceived deception, believing everything he had been told about an "exclusive objective" and "predestined happiness" was a lie. He began smashing items in the shop, but Hu Grandpa desperately stopped him from touching a specific corner, warning of "temporal disorder."
Fang Muye's faith collapsed, feeling that without Grandma, doing good deeds was meaningless; he would now do whatever he pleased. After Fang Muye left, Hu Grandpa cried, lamenting his helplessness and how he had always tried his best despite his confusion. Fang Muye wandered the streets, drinking alcohol and feeling that life had lost its purpose. His wings turned black, and he began assaulting people.
As he was about to stab a man with a knife, Yiyi arrived just in time to stop him. Fang Muye choked her, but Yiyi's tears falling on his hand brought him back to his senses. His black wings retracted, and he collapsed, unconscious. Yiyi desperately tried to help him and ran to find assistance. Meanwhile, researchers monitoring Fang Muye's genetic data observed an unprecedented surge in his energy value. Hu Grandpa, sensing Fang Muye's distress, arrived and rescued him.
Yiyi returned to find Fang Muye gone and frantically searched for him, asking passersby. Hu Grandpa revived Fang Muye, whose mark on his back had turned black. Once awake, Fang Muye immediately asked for Yiyi. Hu Grandpa attempted to use his teleportation ability, but it failed, explaining that he had only managed to trigger it once nine years ago when he saved Fang Muye and didn't know how to control it.
They were forced to take a taxi to search for Yiyi. From a distance, Fang Muye saw Yiyi anxiously searching for him, but Hu Grandpa warned him that his current unstable condition prevented them from getting too close. To reassure Yiyi, Fang Muye projected a shadow of his wings on a nearby wall. Yiyi, seeing the winged shadow, rushed to the spot, filled with hope, but found no one. She slumped to the ground, crying, now aware of Fang Muye's secret but unsure how to help him.
Episode 21 Recap
Jiang Yiyi returned home, heavy-hearted after failing to find Fang Muye anywhere. She was tormented by the fact that Grandma had passed away despite her agreeing to marry Chu Tianqi, and by Muye's frightening transformation. She longed to know where Muye was and when he might return, even as she received a reminder for her upcoming wedding rehearsal. Yiyi contacted Chu Tianqi, who was still in a meeting, and arranged to talk to him at his home.
In the meeting, Chu Tianqi acknowledged that company headquarters was currently displeased with him, and he entrusted Kevin with delivering a report to headquarters, confidently asserting that he would not allow Rococo to take over the Malaysian market. Later, Yiyi went to Chu Tianqi's home to talk to him. While waiting, she signed for a wet package addressed to Chu Tianqi. As she opened it, a notebook slipped out.
Yiyi discovered it was Angel's diary, revealing Angel's deep love for Chu Tianqi. The diary explained that Angel's father had withdrawn his capital, complicating Chu Tianqi's business, and asked him to forgive her father's actions, which stemmed from his love for Angel. It also spoke of their shared night when a drunk Chu Tianqi had mistakenly believed Angel to be Yiyi.
Angel realized that love could not be forced and that she could never be Yiyi's replacement, a difficult truth that led her to decide to let go. After reading the diary, Jiang Yiyi understood that Angel's love for Chu Tianqi far surpassed her own. She concluded that her feelings for Chu Tianqi were rooted more in shared memories than true affection, and she could no longer accept a relationship built on compromise.
Chu Tianqi sensed that Yiyi's acceptance of his proposal wasn't driven by love for him, but by other reasons, and he feared there was someone else in her heart. Yiyi explained that she came to confront her true emotions, admitting her feelings for him were more admiration than love. She believed that forcing love was unfair to everyone involved.
Ultimately, out of his profound love for Yiyi, Chu Tianqi agreed to cancel their wedding, wishing her happiness and freedom to choose her own life. Yiyi thanked him. Meanwhile, Grandpa Hu was diligently tending to Fang Muye. Upon waking, Muye apologized to Grandpa Hu for his earlier disrespectful behavior. Grandpa Hu, unfazed, told him to rest and not worry.
Muye, recalling how he almost hurt Yiyi, was filled with fear and decided it would be best to stay away from her, believing she would be safer and face fewer problems without him. The next morning, Jiang Yiyi received a phone call and saw urgent news about the collapse of Rococo, reporting that the company had been exposed for developing prohibited medicine. Yiyi rushed to Rococo and found Peter Chen.
He furiously revealed that Chu Tianqi was behind everything, having orchestrated the exposure of Rococo's scandal, bribed workers, and manipulated stock prices for acquisition. Chen, however, showed no remorse for experimenting with drugs on people. He vehemently claimed that no one understood his true ideals, dismissing Yiyi as an idiot and her robotic arm research as utterly worthless. Hearing Chen's harsh words, Yiyi was devastated.
She felt like an ordinary, untalented, and naive fool, her work and love a mere product of wishful thinking, explaining why people always left her. With her long-held beliefs shattered, Yiyi retreated to her closet, seeking solace in alcohol. She watched old videos of Muye and their robotic arm project, missing him terribly and weeping uncontrollably. She lamented her perceived inability to succeed in anything and desperately wondered why Muye had left her and was ignoring her.
Yiyi didn't know how long she had hidden in the closet. Suddenly, she heard Muye's voice and rushed out to find him preparing breakfast in the kitchen. Disbelieving, she pinched Muye's face to confirm he was real, then quickly went to clean herself up. Muye gently blow-dried her hair as they ate breakfast, bringing a genuine smile to Yiyi's face for the first time in days. He teased her about her fickle preference for his vegetarian cooking.
Elsewhere, Miao Miao was on another blind date with an unusual man. Meng Sizhu, who had been following her, called her, pretending to be Jackie Chan's agent offering a role in a movie, which Miao Miao didn't believe. He then called again, posing as a property manager reporting a water leak at her apartment, successfully helping her escape the uncomfortable date. Her date, however, insisted on going Dutch for the meal. Back home, Muye was preparing to cook.
As he reached for a plate, his hand momentarily turned transparent, and he lost his grip, causing the plate to shatter. Yiyi noticed his bleeding finger from the shards and quickly got a band-aid. Muye was surprisingly happy about the injury, as the blood reaffirmed his physical presence. As Yiyi was bandaging him, he commented on her beauty. Later, in his room, Muye pondered his intermittent transparency. He found a "Heaven's Secret Hint Ball" which displayed "Ten feet."
He was confused, initially wondering if it meant he should keep his distance. However, he soon deduced that to prevent himself from completely disappearing, he needed to maintain a distance of no more than ten feet from Yiyi. From that moment, Muye began to stay constantly close to her. That night, as Yiyi went to her room to sleep, she noticed Muye lingering outside her door through the gap.
Unaware of his condition, she humorously called him a "knucklehead" for standing outside her room. Feigning fear of bugs in her room, Yiyi playfully invited Muye to sleep in her bed. He hesitated, unsure if he was taking up too much space, but Yiyi reassured him it was good to have him around. The next morning, they awoke in a sweet embrace. Just as Muye leaned in for a kiss, another hint appeared, displaying "Zero feet."
Muye explained his desire to hold Yiyi's hand and spend the entire day together, a wish Yiyi happily accepted. He secretly worried about how much time he had left. He was determined to teach Yiyi how to swim, cook, and be independent, so she could live a happy life even without him. While swimming, Yiyi momentarily lost sight of Muye and frantically swam back, relieved to find him. He spontaneously kissed her. That evening, they watched a movie together.
Yiyi expressed her fear that Muye might disappear like a character in the film. Muye tried to reassure her, downplaying his condition by saying he would only lose his sense of taste and become color-blind. Yiyi, relieved, joked that she would choose his clothes and that his loss of taste wouldn't matter since she was a terrible cook anyway.
Muye secretly reflected on his true fate: his body would become transparent and eventually disappear, leaving Yiyi unable to see or touch him. He urged her to live well, eat well, sleep well, and pursue her dreams, even if he couldn't be by her side in the future. Muye realized that he and Yiyi could not hold hands forever.
He contemplated that if his presence would only bring her sorrowful memories, then quietly leaving her might be the best way to protect her. He wondered if she would be able to accept his secret when she inevitably discovered it.
Episode 22 Recap
Chu Tianqi invited Jiang Yiyi for breakfast, where she saw his packed luggage. He explained that his lease was due, their wedding was cancelled, and he planned to start a new life by developing a market in Malaysia. He confided that growing up in a single-parent family made him both long for and fear marriage, worrying it would ultimately end love. He admitted his past reluctance to make a promise to her, never expecting to lose her forever.
He stated that love constituted only 10% of his life, and if that 10% wasn't her, he'd prefer to leave it vacant. He thanked her for teaching him the meaning of true love, even if it felt too late, and wished her eternal happiness. Jiang Yiyi wished him well in return. Jiang Yiyi returned home, hoping to watch a movie with Fang Muye, but found he was gone and all his belongings had been cleared out.
She frantically called his phone, but it was unreachable, and her search for him at the gym and the Fang family's old house proved fruitless. Distraught, she murmured that she didn't know why he left, but believed he would return to her as he always had, and promised to wait for him. Sitting alone outside the Fang family's old house, Fang Muye, holding an angel doll, reflected on his impending complete disappearance.
He didn't want Jiang Yiyi to see him in that state, especially after she had finally overcome her long-standing struggles with Chu Tianqi. He missed her deeply but worried about causing her more sadness. He then dreamed of his grandmother, who gently reproached him for his sorrow. She revealed that she, too, was a Guardian, and her duty was to protect him. She encouraged him to understand true happiness, let go of the past, and cherish the present.
She gave him her repaired pocket watch, explaining that it was the repair of this watch that had awakened her. She advised him to be brave, face the future, and not turn back. Muye woke up with the watch in his hand, realizing that his grandmother was indeed his Guardian and that he inherited her abilities. He deduced that becoming a Guardian would make him transparent, unable to be touched by loved ones.
He resolved not to run away anymore, promising his grandmother to cherish every moment and love Yiyi with all his remaining time, regardless of when he might completely disappear. As Fang Muye stood contemplating his future, Jiang Yiyi arrived at the old house, calling his name. To his heartbreak, she walked directly through him, making him realize that she could no longer see him. Despite his invisibility, Yiyi seemed to sense his presence.
She spoke into the air, telling him she had bought his favorite foods and decided to stay at the old house until she had to return to work, fulfilling her promise to him to take care of herself and focus on her inventions. Overcome with despair, Muye cried out on the lawn, questioning why fate was so cruel and why he was denied the chance to face the future with her, knowing she would never see him again.
Living alone in the old house, Jiang Yiyi adapted by learning to light fires and cook, understanding Fang Muye's past reluctance to cook. She still felt his presence, which she attributed to how much she missed him. However, at night, she often broke down in tears, lamenting his sudden disappearance without a word and questioning what she had done wrong. One evening, she went to the lawn to watch fireflies, reminiscing about the meteor shower they had seen there together.
Muye lay beside her, though she couldn't see him. Yiyi whispered that all she wanted was to see him one last time for a proper goodbye, so she could finally forget him. Muye, hearing her words, expressed his deep unwillingness to say goodbye or forget her, and gently kissed her forehead. Yiyi continued to assert that she knew he was nearby and promised to wait for him forever, regardless of his reasons for not appearing.
On Monday, Jiang Yiyi prepared to return to work at Lazy Creative Company. Before leaving the old house, she spoke to photos of Fang Muye and his grandmother, promising to return the following weekend. As she was leaving, she received a frantic phone call from Dandan, who tearfully informed her that her father, Stone Liang, had been rushed into emergency surgery.
Yiyi immediately went to the hospital, where the doctor delivered the grim news: Stone Liang's arm had suffered severe necrosis, and he would likely face lifelong disability. Meanwhile, Jiang Yiyi, still at the hospital, received a notification that a package she had ordered to the old house in Fang Muye's name had been signed for. This confirmed her belief that Muye was indeed still there.
Back at the old house, Muye had been shocked when the deliveryman clearly saw him and asked him to sign for the cleaning supplies. Muye then reflected on a "One day left" prompt he had seen earlier, realizing that the numbers "1" and "0" were a test for Guardian advancement. He understood that his failure to take them seriously had resulted in the cruel punishment that while others could see him, Jiang Yiyi, the person he loved most, could not.
He wondered if this meant he was achieving a new stage as a Guardian, but lamented the tragedy of being invisible only to her. Meng Sizuo and Miaomiao arrived at the old house, concerned about Fang Muye's disappearance. Sizuo told Muye that Jiang Yiyi had been tirelessly searching for him across the entire city, urging him to make peace if they had fought. Miaomiao encouraged Muye to share any worries they could help with.
Muye, unable to reveal his true condition, simply told them he needed peace and quiet and was fine. Over dinner, Muye thanked them for their unwavering friendship, saying he would always cherish it. His words, however, struck Sizuo as sounding like a permanent farewell, prompting Miaomiao to advise him not to give up on a cherished relationship, no matter the circumstances.
Stone Liang awoke in the hospital but displayed signs of intermittent amnesia, not recognizing his own daughter, Dandan, or Jiang Yiyi. The doctor explained that this condition, possibly caused by a stimulant drug, could be long-lasting and suggested taking Stone Liang to places with sentimental value to aid his memory. Driven to help, Yiyi brought her newly developed robotic arm to the hospital, hoping he would test it.
However, Stone Liang reacted with extreme distress upon seeing it, leading Yiyi to leave it in his room without pressing the issue. Later, as Stone Liang struggled to eat with one hand, he decided to try the robotic arm. Yiyi arrived just in time to assist him, and together they worked on using the device. Yiyi assured him that she would refine the robotic arm until it was good enough to help him return to the court.
Stone Liang expressed his longing for Fang Muye, prompting Yiyi to playfully suggest Muye was playing hide-and-seek, but privately, Dandan's innocent remarks about dating Muye if Yiyi broke up with him highlighted Yiyi's underlying worries. That weekend, Jiang Yiyi returned to the Fang family's old house, calling out for Fang Muye. She saw the package he had signed for, a bittersweet reminder of his presence, yet he remained unseen.
As she tidied the house, she confided in a photo of Muye's grandmother, expressing her profound sadness and how much she missed Muye. She admitted she dared not cry, fearing it would make him disappear from her life forever. All the while, Muye stood right beside her, watching her every move, heartbroken by her unseen sorrow.
Episode 23 Recap
Miaomiao had a blind date with a man who resided in North Quebec, Canada. While he appeared to be a good match at first glance, he quickly revealed himself to be a severe homebody, preferring to do all his shopping online and spending his free time watching goldfish swim or panda livestreams rather than socializing or visiting zoos.
He stated his desire to have three children and quickly proposed getting married the next day, complimenting Miaomiao's figure as suitable for childbearing. Miaomiao was taken aback, explaining that she needed more time to get to know him and couldn't imagine living abroad, as her family was in her home country. She expressed a longing for a real, passionate marriage, even with occasional arguments, rather than a dull, boring one. Recognizing their differing values, they amicably parted ways.
Shortly after, Miaomiao received a call reminding her of one final scheduled blind date for that afternoon, which she agreed to attend to avoid affecting her online profile score. Jiang Yiyi was busy cleaning the old house. As she prepared to take a shower, Fang Muye, unseen by her, gently closed the bathroom door. Yiyi, sensing his presence, spoke aloud, recalling their first encounter where he had "peeped" at her showering.
She admitted she still felt their worlds were different and she didn't want any "compensation" for his presence, but she wished he would appear, if only to let her see him just once. Muye remained silently by the door, keeping her company. When Miaomiao arrived at her last blind date, she was shocked to find Meng Sizhuo waiting. Believing he was playing a prank, she initially tried to dismiss him. However, Meng Sizhuo was serious.
He formally introduced himself, shared that they had attended the same high school, and recounted personal details about her, such as her dislike for snakes, her preferred milk tea order (milk green tea with little sugar and no ice), and her preference for healthy, reliable men over playboys. He confessed that he had long been afraid of making promises and getting hurt, which led him to hide his deepest feelings, especially knowing her feelings for Fang Muye.
He spoke of their shared childhood with Muye and her, and how he had been in love with her for a long time but kept it secret, fearing he would lose their friendship if he confessed. Now, he bravely declared his love, stating his earnest desire to build a life with her and expressing that he would be happy regardless of her answer because he had finally revealed his true feelings.
Miaomiao was overwhelmed and, still believing he was joking, left the cafe despite his insistence that he was serious. Meanwhile, Peng Tao, whose health was deteriorating and required expensive surgery, desperately sought funds. Unable to locate Chu Tianqi, who had moved, or reach Vivian by phone, he went to the gym to demand money from Miaomiao. Miaomiao confronted him, reminding him that he had stolen clients when he left, yet they had still paid his salary.
Peng Tao grew aggressive, trying to grab Miaomiao, but Ma Yun intervened, scolding him for his behavior and threatening to call the police. Peng Tao, furious, left. Later, as Miaomiao was closing up the gym, counting inventory and sorting accounts, Meng Sizhuo called, promising to bring her roast chicken takeaway and apologizing for ignoring him earlier. While Miaomiao stepped out to dispose of trash, Peng Tao returned to the gym.
Embittered by his circumstances, he poured gasoline on the entrance and set it ablaze, stating, "Alright then, let's be unlucky together!" Meng Sizhuo, arriving with the takeaway, saw the gym engulfed in flames. Believing Miaomiao was still inside, he disregarded the warnings of bystanders and rushed into the burning building. Miaomiao, who had already stepped out, watched in horror as he disappeared into the fire.
Meng Sizhuo was eventually rescued from the fire, but he sustained burn injuries to his eyebrows and hair. In the hospital, he tried to lighten the mood with jokes about his appearance. Miaomiao, seeing him in his bandaged state, was deeply emotional. She confessed her immense fear of losing him, realizing how deeply he had become an indispensable part of her life.
She promised to take care of him, buying him food, taking him outside when he couldn't walk, and even learning how to change his bandages from the nurse. Meng Sizhuo, touched by her dedication, asked her to promise she would care for him for all their lives, without regrets. Miaomiao tearfully affirmed, "I will take care of you, for all of my life." He requested a kiss as a reward, and after a brief hesitation, Miaomiao kissed him passionately.
Meng Sizhuo, overjoyed, exclaimed that it was "totally worth it! Even after a dozen fires, still worth it!" He pondered how the firemen arrived so quickly, musing that perhaps "God sent me a Guardian. . . to keep me with you." Unbeknownst to them, Fang Muye watched this tender moment from outside the hospital room, a subtle smile of satisfaction on his face. Fang Muye confronted Peng Tao, who was looking haggard and desperate.
Muye noted that Peng Tao seemed to have received his just punishment. Peng Tao pleaded for Muye's help, claiming he never meant to set the fire and that "they turned me into a monster!" Muye responded that one would eventually face judgment for evil deeds and that "life is determined by your choices. Believe it or not, working hard will always gain you more." Muye then visited Grandpa Hu.
He noticed the dusty surroundings and advised Grandpa Hu to drink less whiskey and take care of himself, as his powers were becoming unstable with age, hinting that he might not be able to visit again soon. During their game of chess, Muye deliberately made a move that allowed Grandpa Hu to win. Grandpa Hu, elated by his victory after so many years, reminded Muye of a promise to call him "Mentor."
Muye, though admitting he wasn't a qualified intern Guardian, expressed profound gratitude to Grandpa Hu. He acknowledged Grandpa Hu's occasional unreliability but deeply appreciated his care, stating that he viewed him not just as a mentor but "like a father to me, like family," thanking him for his support, especially after his grandma's illness. Grandpa Hu was deeply moved.
Suddenly, Muye received a celestial message: "Fully fledged on the day of the full moon, totally changed at the northern Mount Ling." Grandpa Hu urged Muye not to lose hope, advising him to pack his bags and go to Mount Ling, suggesting that if he stayed there for a year and a half, his wishes would be granted.
Back at home, Jiang Yiyi found a pair of 3D-printed human figurines, depicting her and Muye lying together in the grass, which brought tears to her eyes. She then received a message from Chen Peter. He claimed to have reflected on his past actions and intended to confess his wrongdoings. As a gesture of sincerity, he offered to give Yiyi the complete research documents for the robotic arm, believing they could help her improve it.
He proposed meeting at Mount Ling at 5:30 PM. Yiyi, hoping to acquire the data to help Shi Liang, agreed to the meeting. However, upon meeting Chen Peter, Yiyi quickly realized he had no genuine remorse. Obsessed with his genetic research, he spoke of his desire to achieve "perfection of life" by transcending human limitations and even manipulating time and space.
He believed humanity needed sacrifices for advancement and that those who were sacrificed should be grateful for proving their worth. When Yiyi expressed her inability to understand his reasoning and attempted to leave, Chen Peter stopped her. He revealed a device containing "the source of Fang Muye's power," explaining that he had been searching for Muye for over a decade.
He elaborated on his research, revealing that his own ancestors, like Muye, possessed the "Guardian gene" due to Crop Circles in the valley, but their abilities had gradually disappeared. He planned to use genetic modification to absorb Muye's Guardian gene to awaken his own potential and reach the highest level of existence. As the full moon rose, Fang Muye, meditating on Mount Ling, sensed Yiyi's imminent danger.
Chen Peter pressed Yiyi to call Muye, threatening that Muye would "disappear" and become a fully-fledged Guardian that very night if he successfully completed his cultivation. Yiyi, horrified at the thought of Muye vanishing, refused to call him, declaring, "I won't let you get near him. I won't call for him, even if it means death!" Infuriated, Chen Peter pushed Yiyi off the cliff. Muye arrived just as she fell, screaming her name, but couldn't catch her.
Yiyi hit the ground, bleeding from her head. Desperate, Muye rushed back to Grandpa Hu's, forcefully smashing his alarm clock into a black hole to reverse time, despite Grandpa Hu's warnings against breaking the rules. Time rewound, and Muye reappeared at the cliff's edge, this time pushing Chen Peter away before he could push Yiyi. Relieved to see Muye, Yiyi warned him about Chen Peter.
However, Chen Peter, still determined, proceeded to absorb Muye's power into an energy chip, declaring his intention to take Muye's abilities for himself. Yiyi, seeing Muye's power being siphoned, bravely snatched the chip from Chen Peter, proclaiming, "I won't let you hurt him!" She tried to throw the chip away but found she couldn't.
Remembering a nurse's words that the happiness of a Guardian and their partner is achieved through mutual effort, Yiyi realized it was her turn to protect Muye. With a final "Farewell, Muye," she leaped off the cliff with the energy chip. Muye cried out, questioning why, despite reversing time, the outcome remained the same.
Episode 24 (Ending) Recap
Witnessing Yiyi's selfless leap off the cliff, Fang Muye questioned why, despite his efforts to turn back time, their fates repeatedly led to such desperate moments. Recalling Yiyi's past protection, and her current resolve to protect him, Muye engaged his wings, sweeping down to rescue her from the fall.
However, the intense fire consumed his wings, and after ensuring Yiyi's safety with a final, tender kiss, Muye dissolved into a shower of feathers, a direct consequence of his forceful manipulation of time. Hu Grandpa, discovering the fallen feathers, grieved Muye's disappearance, sorrowfully calling him a "foolish boy" and desperately wishing for his return.
He then placed a lit lamp outside his house, explaining it was so Muye wouldn't trip on the stairs at night, and vowed to wait for him indefinitely. As time passed, a little girl named Dan Dan approached him, concerned he might catch a cold. She chatted with Hu Grandpa, expressing her fondness for the lamp and how its light made her feel warm.
Upon hearing this, Hu Grandpa was overjoyed, realizing Dan Dan could see the Guardian's lamp, confirming she was his next protection target. Muye awoke by a roadside, his body covered in severe scars. He questioned why he hadn't disappeared entirely and how he had ended up in such a disfigured state. As he wandered, he was accidentally hit by a car.
The driver, Meng Sizuo, a lawyer by profession, immediately expressed concern for Muye's injuries and offered assistance, even giving him a business card. Muye attempted to speak, calling out Sizuo's name and his own, but he found he had lost his voice. Sizuo, mistaking his silence for deafness, did not recognize him. Muye silently pondered how Sizuo could help him when he had lost everything, including his identity.
Meng Sizuo then took a detour, asking Muye to wait in the car while he picked something up from a friend. Muye secretly followed him, only to witness Miaomiao and another man, who was now regarded as "Fang Muye" by their friends. He overheard Sizuo and Miaomiao discussing their long-standing affections and a college bet to marry.
Muye realized the full extent of his altered reality: throwing the clock into the black hole had not only reversed time but had also erased his existence from this timeline. He had no name, no identity, and his body was gradually turning to ashes, leaving him as nothing more than a ghost, wandering and vulnerable to disappearing at any moment. He wished he had died on the cliff.
Later, Muye spotted Yiyi on the street, participating in a charity event where she was offering "100 hugs," wearing decorative wings. He approached her, silently pleading for her to remember him, but she, seeing him as a stranger, did not. Yiyi, as part of her event, offered Muye a hug, explaining that it was a natural way for humans to express emotions and encouraging him not to be shy. Muye was overwhelmed and retreated.
He internally reflected that this world held no meaning for him without her recognition, yet as long as his actions ensured her happiness and safety, he asked for nothing more. Despite his strong desire to hold her, he decided not to intrude on her life, acknowledging his non-existence in her reality and his own imminent disappearance. He then discreetly followed her. Muye followed Yiyi onto a bus. When she exited, she accidentally left her decorative wings behind.
Muye retrieved them and took them to her house. As he rang the doorbell, he heard a man's voice from inside. He quickly hung the wings on the doorknob and hid, only to see Chu Tianqi open the door, followed by Yiyi calling Tianqi to dinner. Muye was utterly devastated, believing this was the true outcome of his efforts: Yiyi had found happiness with someone else.
He resigned himself to this new reality, feeling that her happiness was all he ever wanted, and silently bade her farewell, believing his purpose was complete. Yiyi had become a radio host for "Sunflower Radio," where she shared stories and discussed her philosophy on finding different forms of happiness beyond a conventional nine-to-five existence. Meanwhile, Muye continued to wander, grappling with his lost identity and the constant threat of disappearing.
He bought a clown mask and rode a carousel, pondering the meaning of his desolate existence. Later, he heard Yiyi's broadcast and came across a gashapon machine similar to the mysterious "heaven's secret" ball. The candy store owner encouraged him to try it. Muye received an "unusual" candy, which miraculously restored his voice. He shared his tragic tale with the sympathetic owner, lamenting how his loved ones and friends no longer remembered him, and his identity had been usurped.
Despite his despair, he affirmed that he had no regrets, as long as they were happy, even if it meant dying alone. The extraordinary owner then used his superpowers to place a candy wrapper with a phone number in Muye's pocket, which Muye later found. Muye called the number, which turned out to be Yiyi's radio show hotline.
Speaking to Yiyi, he explained that he had had a wonderful day because of a girl whose smile had illuminated his life and helped him forgive the world. He confessed that she was not a fleeting whim but the "happy ending" he had always pursued. Though he acknowledged she might have forgotten him, he wanted her to know that being her Guardian, caring for her, and bringing her joy was the happiest experience of his life.
On the other end, Yiyi was deeply moved, tears streaming down her face as she listened, but Muye hung up before she could respond. Muye fell asleep by the street, only to wake up transformed. His scars were gone, his black clothes replaced by a clean white shirt, and a pair of full, visible wings had grown on his back.
The candy store owner, revealed to be a Guardian from a neighboring precinct specializing in "the field of love," appeared beside him. The owner congratulated Muye on becoming Guardian No. 3963333, explaining that Muye passed the final test by demonstrating a willingness to sacrifice for his ward in the fantasy world, thus unlocking his full potential and reactivating his Guardian gene.
The owner confessed that he intervened to help Muye, as he couldn't bear to see him punished for destroying the clock and reversing time. He praised Muye's kindness and love, playfully suggesting Muye transfer to his "love" precinct to earn "love credits," even offering extra credits for those who had experienced heartbreak, though Muye humorously dismissed the idea. The Guardian owner then immediately took Muye on a mission.
They observed Miaomiao and Meng Sizuo playfully bickering, with Miaomiao trying to get Sizuo to dance. The owner explained that Guardians like Muye, with invisible wings, are meant to spread the power of love and pursue their own happiness. Muye questioned how he could heal others when the one he loved had forgotten him and seemed not to need him.
The owner reminded him that "love is a miracle created by two people working together" and offered Muye "a little help" with his specialty in love, imbuing Muye with newfound courage. The air in Shanghai felt vibrant with love, a sentiment echoed by Yiyi on her radio show. She had put up a "For Rent" sign for a room in her apartment.
Muye, now filled with courage, rushed to her building, tore down the sign, and declared his intention to rent the room. Coincidentally, Chu Tianqi then walked by, greeting Yiyi and mentioning seeing her later. Muye cautiously asked Yiyi if Tianqi was her boyfriend or husband. Yiyi laughed and clarified that Tianqi was merely her cousin, a Berkeley professor temporarily staying with her while he conducted research.
Relieved and overjoyed by this clarification, Muye broke into a wide smile, and they both shared a happy, understanding look. After enduring numerous trials and transformations, both Muye and Yiyi were now taking confident steps towards their shared happiness, with everything seemingly returning to their most cherished moments.
