Recently, Gao Ren found himself uncharacteristically unsettled by Ning Weixuan's absence from the hospital. He had previously found her constant presence annoying, but now that she was no longer pursuing him, he felt unaccustomed to the quiet. This change came after an emotional evening at his birthday celebration, where Ning Weixuan had directly asked him if he would ever love her. When he offered no reply, she declared that she would stop badgering him.

Ning Weijin attempted to arrange a meal with Dingding, presenting her with a bouquet of flowers. Dingding was delighted, but their plans were quickly interrupted when Shu Yiran called Ning Weijin with urgent news: Wang Minying was experiencing postoperative haemorrhagic complications. Ning Weijin immediately informed Dingding that he had a patient emergency. Remembering Xiao Feng’s earlier advice to be considerate and understanding, Dingding, though disappointed, urged Ning Weijin to return to the hospital.

Ning Weijin promised to make it up to her. Upon his arrival at the hospital, Shu Yiran explained that Wang Minying’s wound had split due to coughing, but the situation was now under control. As Wang Minying’s attending doctor, Ning Weijin was advised by Shu Yiran to dedicate his attention to her recovery, given the significant effort involved in saving her life.

Meanwhile, Yun Sheng discovered that Mu Yixun was about to launch a new line of dolls whose designs were strikingly similar to Dingding’s "dirty cat" character. Dingding, having previously refused to sell her design to him, was shocked and immediately called Mu Yixun. He coolly asserted that the designs were his original work, claiming they were similar to her "dirty cat" but predated it.

When Dingding questioned the "cat mask" on the doll, he corrected her, stating it was a fox mask, and abruptly ended the call, citing a meeting. Furious, Dingding went to Mu Yixun's studio to confront him. Mu Yixun reiterated that the design was his, produced by his studio, and he was free to use it as he wished. He challenged Dingding for proof of ownership, asserting she had no contract.

He then defensively brought up her past "plagiarism" controversy, claiming he had only issued a public clarification on Weibo because she had "begged" him and he had "appreciated" her work. Mu Yixun warned that her accusations were slander and threatened to sue her for libel if she continued, hinting at another public scandal. Feeling helpless and enraged, Dingding left, calling him shameless, while Mu Yixun dismissed her as a nobody.

Dingding tried to call Ning Weijin to tell him what happened, but he was deep in discussion with Shu Yiran about a patient whose cancer had metastasized. When Ning Weijin returned her call, Shu Yiran deliberately interrupted, raising a point about a research paper related to primary tumors. Despite Ning Weijin's attempts to speak with Dingding, Shu Yiran continued to monopolize the conversation. A nurse then called Ning Weijin away to another patient.

Sensing his overwhelming busyness, Dingding chose not to burden him with her problem, simply saying "nothing" and adding, "I miss you," before hanging up. Instead, she called Xiao Feng. Dingding vented her frustration to Xiao Feng, realizing that Mu Yixun’s offer to collaborate had been a "conspiracy" from the start. She recounted how Mu Yixun had claimed that all designs created within his studio were considered "collective creativity" and thus part of the studio’s collective work, precluding individual contracts.

Xiao Feng warned her about Mu Yixun's powerful fan base and the potential damage to her reputation if she tried to expose him. Despite the difficulty of proving intellectual property theft, Dingding decided she wouldn't back down. She theorized that Mu Yixun must have deceived others before and planned to seek out past collaborators to collectively expose his true nature.

She decided not to involve Ning Weijin, acknowledging his demanding schedule with a critically ill patient, and committed to resolving the issue herself. Xiao Feng, while supporting her, teased her about becoming a "doctor's wife" and warned that such challenges would only intensify in a marriage. At the hospital, the director convened a meeting, introducing a new actress that a major shareholder wished to promote. He tasked Gao Ren and Dr. Xiang with enhancing her appearance to ensure instant stardom.

A heated debate ensued between Gao Ren, who advocated for subtle adjustments based on natural beauty, and Dr. Xiang, who insisted on more significant changes to align with "mass aesthetic" trends. Dr. Xiang's commercially driven arguments won over the room, and the director appointed him as the lead surgeon, with Gao Ren instructed to assist. Afterward, Dr. Xiang subtly mocked Gao Ren's "Zen-like" approach to surgery, suggesting it would eventually lead to financial ruin.

He then brought up Ning Weixuan, describing her as "cute." Gao Ren, visibly rattled, immediately launched into a tirade, listing all of Ning Weixuan's supposed flaws: she was incompetent, messy, lacked feminine charm, had an awful figure, and a terrible temper. He vehemently urged Dr. Xiang not to develop an interest in her. Dr. Xiang, however, found Gao Ren's denial amusing and, to Gao Ren's chagrin, seemed only more assured in his interest.

Later, Dr. Xiang went to Ning Weixuan's cafe, arriving as she was closing. She urged him to leave and return another day, reminding him they had once "drank and danced together." Dr. Xiang, undeterred, observed her cafe, noting that despite having many cats, she did not serve Kopi Luwak. He explained that true coffee connoisseurs, particularly in professional competitions, chose high-quality Gesha beans over Kopi Luwak, which he dismissed as a mere marketing gimmick.

Ning Weixuan wholeheartedly agreed, finding common ground in their shared discerning taste for coffee. Adhering to her "no overtime" rule, they decided to move their conversation to another venue. They continued their conversation at a bar, where Dr. Xiang further impressed Ning Weixuan by revealing his diverse talents, including certifications as a pet trainer, an outdoor leader, and a sommelier.

He explained that his varied pursuits stemmed from a desire to "save the world," from those seeking beauty through plastic surgery to those overwhelmed by their pets. Ning Weixuan joked that her brother would call him "unreliable and not focused on his main job," but she was clearly intrigued by his hidden skills. As Gao Ren arrived at the bar, seeking to unwind, he spotted Ning Weixuan and Dr. Xiang.

Approaching them, he tried to greet them, but Ning Weixuan, to his dismay, feigned ignorance, calling him a stranger and accusing him of being rude for interrupting. Dr. Xiang courteously invited Gao Ren to join them, but Ning Weixuan firmly stated she would not drink with someone she didn't know. Gao Ren, trying to assert his authority, asked if her brother knew she was out with a stranger. Ning Weixuan retorted that it was none of his business.

As he began to leave, defeated, Gao Ren turned to Dr. Xiang and, within Ning Weixuan's earshot, claimed, "I'm her brother's friend. That makes her my little sister." He warned Dr. Xiang that he would be watching him. Ning Weixuan immediately rejected this, asserting her independence from both her brother and Gao Ren. That night, Dingding visited Ning Weijin at the hospital, finding him still engrossed in discussing a project with Shu Yiran.

Feeling like an outsider and unable to contribute to their conversation, Dingding quietly left. Back home, she sent a message to Ning Weijin, silently questioning his affection. Meanwhile, a weary Ning Weijin replied to her previous message, informing her he had just gotten home and apologizing for ignoring her earlier. He struggled to type another message, explaining his exhaustion, but fell asleep before it could be sent.

The next morning, Ning Weijin discovered the unsent message and immediately sent an apology, explaining his fatigue. Dingding, though she had waited up for his reply and was hurt, drafted a reply expressing her feelings but ultimately deleted it, choosing instead to send a message of understanding, telling him to rest well. Elsewhere, Wen Zixin, after accompanying Chen Xun to a work dinner, became heavily intoxicated.

Chen Xun brought her home, and as he was caring for her, her agent called. Chen Xun answered, and the agent directly confronted him, expressing his concern that Wen Zixin was sacrificing her career by tying herself to Chen Xun and acting as his assistant.

The agent revealed that a director, whose project Wen Zixin had previously declined for Chen Xun, was offering her another audition this Sunday and urged Chen Xun to relay the message, imploring her not to disappoint herself or him. After the call, Chen Xun told a groggy Wen Zixin that it was a wrong number and then deleted the call record from his phone. Back at the hospital, Gao Ren and Dr. Xiang crossed paths.

Dr. Xiang apologized for assuming Gao Ren and Ning Weixuan were friends the night before. Gao Ren, still upset, demanded to know how Dr. Xiang knew Ning Weixuan. Dr. Xiang explained he had noticed her when she visited the hospital seeking Gao Ren, and more recently, he had helped her when she was harassed by some young men at a bar a few days prior. Gao Ren was surprised to hear about the harassment.

Dr. Xiang then pointed out how nice Ning Weixuan's hair looked that day, making Gao Ren defensively backtrack and admit it looked good after all. Dr. Xiang suggested their repeated encounters might be "fate" and, when pressed by Gao Ren, admitted his interest in her. Gao Ren vehemently objected, declaring himself her "big brother" and forbidding Dr. Xiang from pursuing her. Dr. Xiang countered that Ning Weijin, her actual brother, had no objections, questioning Gao Ren's right to interfere.

Gao Ren stubbornly insisted Dr. Xiang stay away from her. Dr. Xiang then asked if Gao Ren liked her himself, to which Gao Ren denied. Dr. Xiang then logically concluded that if Gao Ren didn't like her, he had no reason to stop him. Gao Ren, frustrated, still tried to physically block him, muttering that Ning Weixuan was a "stupid girl" for catching Dr. Xiang's attention.
