Long For You Episode 9 Recap
> Long For You Recap
Gu Shiyi is preoccupied and distracted during training, earning him a reprimand from the Director. Lin Beila observes his state, subtly advising him not to be disturbed by others. Gu Shiyi, not understanding the deeper meaning, simply acknowledges the advice and continues training. Lin Beila later asks about his poor condition, to which Gu Shiyi attributes it to poor sleep.
She urges him to persist in his practice in preparation for his debut, so the whole world can see his face. Meanwhile, Jiang Huai is kidnapped after school by black-clad men and taken directly to a villa. The owner of the house, Min Furen, also known as Zhang Minzhi, reveals herself.
Tao De had previously informed Xue Ji that Min Furen has cancer and had arrived in Xue Ji's city three days prior, a fact Xue Ji dismisses as irrelevant to her. Min Furen explains her intention to contact Xue Ji, mentioning a good relationship with Xue Ji's father. She clarifies that she wants Jiang Huai to call Xue Ji, not just provide a phone number.
Min Furen then speaks to Xue Ji directly, demanding a meeting and threatening to expose Xue Ji's secrets to Jiang Huai if she refuses. Concerned for Jiang Huai's safety, Xue Ji agrees. Min Furen then releases Jiang Huai. Feeling uneasy, Jiang Huai decides to walk home instead of taking the secretary's ride. She encounters Xue Ji waiting at her doorstep.
Recalling her frightening experience, Jiang Huai expresses a desire to help Xue Ji, who is being threatened by Min Furen, and asks about their conflict. Xue Ji, wishing to conceal her decades-long acquaintance with Min Furen, makes excuses. Affectionately, Xue Ji touches Jiang Huai's head, promising to grant her a few wishes and jokingly calling herself Jiang Huai's "wish lamp"—a phrase Jiang Huai remembers her mother saying.
Later, Gu Shiyi, restless and unable to sleep due to his thoughts of Xue Ji, goes to her house. He tries to secretly observe her by jumping to look over the fence, but Xue Ji catches him. Embarrassed, he claims he was just exercising. Xue Ji is pleased to see him and invites him in for fruits. Inside, Gu Shiyi sees Chun Shan, who is casually watching television. Gu Shiyi grows jealous of Chun Shan's apparent closeness to Xue Ji.
When Chun Shan innocently mentions that he lives with Xue Ji, Gu Shiyi becomes even more furious and abruptly leaves. On his way home, Gu Shiyi is still upset about Chun Shan and Xue Ji. Suddenly, a car's headlights illuminate him, and a black car slowly passes by. He catches a glimpse of a cunning smile and a golden bracelet in the rearview mirror. This is not the first time he has been followed.
Disturbed, Gu Shiyi reports the tracking by a woman to the Director, who dismisses it as a "sasaeng fan" (obsessive fan) and returns to chatting with Lin Beila. Lin Beila, present during the call, shows an unnatural expression. She is later seen calmly swirling red wine in her glass, her golden bracelet clinking against it. Li Zhe visits Xue Ji, bringing snacks and informing her that Gu Shiyi is being followed.
Xue Ji ponders this, connecting it to Min Furen's earlier call. Li Zhe asks Xue Ji if she fears anything. She admits to fearing darkness, hunger, and most of all, losing people she cares about. Li Zhe confesses that his greatest fear is being alone, which is why he always has someone guarding outside when he sleeps, though he also states he is best when alone.
Later, driving home alone in the pouring rain, Li Zhe recalls a traumatic childhood memory: hiding and witnessing his biological mother being cornered by a strange woman and fatally stabbed in the heart with a sharp knife, leaving him with a lasting sense of insecurity. He remains outside his car in the rain, reluctant to go home. Meanwhile, Gu Shiyi awakens from a vivid nightmare, his hands seemingly stained with blood.
In the dream, he and Xue Ji are getting married. After the ceremony, as they sit by dim candlelight, he (in the role of En Shan, who had gently unveiled Xue Ji and tenderly embraced her moments before) fatally stabs Xue Ji in the heart with a knife. A trace of blood stains Xue Ji's delicate makeup.
Xue Ji is stunned but then smiles, while En Shan (Gu Shiyi in the dream) despairingly embraces her as she slowly dies in his arms. Gu Shiyi wakes up horrified, recalling every detail of the dream. The following afternoon, Chun Shan is idly playing with Jiang Huai's phone when he discovers a tracking application installed on it. Jiang Huai realizes she has been secretly tracked and immediately suspects A Ying.
She storms off to confront A Ying in a university classroom, with Chun Shan following out of concern that she might face trouble alone. Jiang Huai angrily confronts A Ying, throwing her phone onto the table. A Ying retaliates by mockingly reading aloud a love letter Jiang Huai had written to Senior Zheng Xian, publicly accusing Jiang Huai of seducing her boyfriend and calling her a "scum girl." Humiliated and speechless, Jiang Huai stands frozen as classmates point and whisper.
Suddenly, Chun Shan steps forward, wraps his arm tightly around Jiang Huai's shoulder, and declares, "Jiang Huai is my girlfriend." He then snatches the letter from A Ying, loudly claiming it was written for him, and warns A Ying not to steal again. A Ying, her face turning green with rage, is left speechless as Chun Shan leads Jiang Huai out of the classroom. Jiang Huai later tells Chun Shan that she had prepared all her arguments to win against A Ying, but Chun Shan stole her thunder.
