Long For You Episode 5 Recap
> Long For You Recap
Xue Ji, a bright and generous woman, quickly earned the favor and trust of Gu Shiyi's friends and roommates, Ming Ze and Tai Hou, who readily approved her request to reside in their apartment. Gu Shiyi alone remained distant and disapproving. Gu Shiyi later confided in Jiang Huai, explaining that he did not dislike Xue Ji, but questioned her sincerity.
He felt she was pursuing him because of a dream, and he feared her affection would vanish if he were not the person from that dream. He was also secretly studying "global dream analysis," while Xue Ji consistently addressed him as "Xiang Gong" (husband/master), which Gu Shiyi found insincere. On a full moon night, both Gu Shiyi and Xue Ji found themselves on the rooftop or balcony.
Xue Ji displayed unwavering affection and dependence toward Gu Shiyi, asking if he, too, had seen such a moon in his dreams. Gu Shiyi, despite an earlier lessening of his aversion, found her words strange and gave her a cold look. He felt compelled to resist the connection, believing Xue Ji's admiration, rooted in a dream, was merely a purposeful facade. Impulsively, Gu Shiyi asked, "If that's the case, why not directly propose dating?"
Xue Ji's eyes brightened, and she asked if such a question was permissible. Her surprisingly direct and affirmative response prompted Gu Shiyi to retreat to his room, realizing he was developing feelings himself. That night, Gu Shiyi had the same dream that Xue Ji had experienced hundreds of times: a figure in a long robe and a bamboo hat, hurriedly departing under a crescent moon, repeatedly uttering "I'm sorry" with despair and heaviness. Gu Shiyi awoke startled.
The following day, Gu Shiyi, Ming Ze, and Tai Hou returned to their apartment to find it overflowing with Xue Ji's packages. Xue Ji had purchased various gifts for her roommates to curry favor, further endearing herself to them. She presented Tai Hou with a game console and Ming Ze with global limited edition shoes, leading them to affectionately call her a "little angel." Xue Ji then knelt before Gu Shiyi, offering him a gift box.
After he repeatedly asked, he opened it to find not an expensive limited edition item, but couple's T-shirts hand-painted by Xue Ji, depicting "ugly" versions of them holding hands. Gu Shiyi feigned annoyance that his gift was "shabby" compared to others' limited editions, but he quickly retreated to his room, secretly trying on the shirt and admiring himself in the mirror, thoroughly delighted. Later, Jiang Huai returned home, also excited by the gifts Xue Ji had bought for her.
The doorbell rang, and the elated roommates, expecting another delivery, opened the door, took a cake that had arrived, and promptly shut it, inadvertently blocking Li Zhe, who had come to visit Xue Ji. A furious Li Zhe knocked again, entered the apartment, and expressed his distress and jealousy at finding Xue Ji there. Xue Ji declined his offer to buy her a house and invited everyone to share the cake.
Li Zhe, noticing Gu Shiyi reading on the sofa, subtly inquired about Xue Ji's ideal type of man. Looking happily at Gu Shiyi, Xue Ji described someone tall and handsome, an "iceberg" on the outside but with an inwardly cute personality. Seeing no hope of persuading Xue Ji to leave the "shabby" apartment, Li Zhe insisted on staying.
Gu Shiyi and Li Zhe sat on opposite sides of the sofa, glaring fiercely at each other, with Li Zhe defiantly vowing not to sleep on the sofa. However, the next morning, Ming Ze discovered Li Zhe and Gu Shiyi sleeping together. Meanwhile, Jiang Huai, dressed up, went on a date with a boy she liked at the cinema. His flirtatious gestures made her blush, stirring her budding romantic feelings.
Gu Shiyi returned home to find Xue Ji waiting in the kitchen, preparing a cake she had learned to bake from a book. Her culinary skills were poor; the cake looked nothing like the picture in the book. As she prepared to restart, Gu Shiyi stopped her, took a spoonful, and declared it delicious. Xue Ji, excited, tasted it herself and found it utterly unappetizing. Suddenly, all the lights went out, and the apartment experienced a power outage.
The normally calm Xue Ji became disoriented and panicked by the sudden darkness, which reminded her of her recurring dreams where she could not see any light. She fumbled desperately for her phone. Gu Shiyi, seeing Xue Ji's fear for the first time, felt a pang of tenderness and quickly retrieved a nightlight for the dining table. The faint light gradually alleviated Xue Ji's fear, and in its dim glow, the two, who had initially resisted, felt their hearts unknowingly draw closer.
