Tao De's investigation into the hospital tracking proved fruitless, as all surveillance footage had been expertly destroyed, making identification impossible. Xue Ji, after initially giving up, later told Tao De to continue investigating the matter, which involved someone secretly photographing her. Meanwhile, Lin Beila, having evaded surveillance herself, orchestrated Xue Ji's arrest by having her subordinates secretly send surveillance footage to the police. Min Furen's son, Wu, had already reported to the police, implicating Xue Ji in the case.

Based on clues provided by Xue Ji, Gu Shiyi initiated his own investigation at a local library, where he discovered a book containing information about Liu Xue Ji. He learned that she possessed an immortal body and was immune to poisons. The book detailed her past as the daughter of a wealthy official, who had once fled to an impoverished village.

The villagers, suffering from severe illness and destitution, heard legends that her blood could cure all diseases and grant immortality. Figures like the scholar Lain Shan even considered obtaining Xue Ji's blood, believing it might heal the ailments of their community. The text recounted an instance where villagers, armed with clubs and mallets, waited outside her home while she was preparing for a wedding, intending to capture her for her blood.

Gu Shiyi realized this explained how Xue Ji's past wounds had healed overnight. While Xue Ji and Chun Shan were at home, police from the Haitianshi Public Security Bureau arrived to arrest Xue Ji on charges of murdering Min Furen. Despite Chun Shan's futile attempts to intervene, Xue Ji was handcuffed and taken away. Outside, reporters, already alerted, swarmed to capture news of the prominent Li family.

Gu Shiyi witnessed Xue Ji's arrest and rushed forward to protect her, but Lin Beila, who had been tracking him nearby, pulled him back. In Lin Beila's car, Gu Shiyi grew increasingly suspicious. He questioned why she was conveniently present outside Xue Ji's house and how she knew it was a dangerous place for Xue Ji despite claiming no acquaintance. Lin Beila offered an awkward excuse.

Gu Shiyi's attention was drawn to a shining bracelet on her wrist, which he recognized as one worn by someone who had previously tracked him. Jiang Huai returned home to chaos, learning of Xue Ji's arrest. She anxiously wished to testify at the police station, but Chun Shan dissuaded her, emphasizing the critical need to keep Xue Ji's true identity secret. Li Zhe also arrived home, comforting Chun Shan and discussing options.

He instructed Tao De to continue investigating Xue Ji's assigned tasks and confirmed he had already arranged for a lawyer for Xue Ji. The lawyer, dispatched by Li Zhe, visited Xue Ji in prison. Faced with a barrage of questions about Min Furen, Xue Ji remained silent, unable to explain how her life-extending blood was considered the murder weapon, or provide evidence that Min Furen had voluntarily received it.

The lawyer, lacking crucial information, reported back to Li Zhe, explaining that if Xue Ji did not speak, she risked imprisonment, and that photographs were the most damaging evidence against her. He mentioned that while a solution existed, it would be difficult to achieve. Convinced he had to seek help from an influential acquaintance, Li Zhe met with his old friend, Wu, Min Furen's son, to plead for Xue Ji's release.

Wu vehemently refused, stating he could not let his mother's killer go free, despite Li Zhe expressing understanding for his pain. Li Zhe explained that Min Furen was already dying, questioning why anyone would bother to risk assisting her death if they truly wished her harm. Wu was stunned, sensing something amiss. Li Zhe then asked Wu how he was so certain Min Furen had been murdered, when everyone else initially believed it was a natural death.

Wu revealed that an unknown woman had sent him a photograph. Li Zhe played a recording from his phone, and Wu confirmed that the voice was identical to that of the woman who had informed him about Min Furen. Li Zhe realized that Lin Beila was orchestrating everything. Collaborating, Li Zhe and Wu then drafted a spoken statement to protect Xue Ji. Gu Shiyi visited Xue Ji in prison.

He was heartbroken to see her, her once radiant complexion now pale and haggard, her face streaked with unshed tears, unkempt from days without washing. He spoke to her through the intercom, calling her "Liu Xue Ji," revealing he knew her true identity. Xue Ji was startled, then asked if he feared her. Gu Shiyi responded that he feared her being harmed. Placing his hand on the glass, he looked at her, silently acknowledging the pain of her solitary millennium.

Xue Ji, watching him, was overcome with sorrow, wishing she weren't immortal so she could grow old alongside the person she loved most. Based on the statement, Xue Ji was acquitted and released. Gu Shiyi watched her exit the prison from a distance, having been warned by Li Zhe not to reveal himself, as it would not be beneficial for either of them.

As Xue Ji slowly emerged, she was protected by Chun Shan and Li Zhe and quickly entered a waiting car. Li Zhe also gave Gu Shiyi a serious warning: Yin Hua Entertainment is very dangerous, and he must be careful.
