Long For You Episode 13 Recap
> Long For You Recap
Li Zhe met with Lin Beila, secretly recording their conversation on his phone. Lin Beila believed he was there to discuss Gu Shiyi going solo or joining SR company, and she maintained her opposition or stated that it was Gu Shiyi's personal choice not to join. Li Zhe praised Lin Beila for training Gu Shiyi exceptionally well before abruptly shifting the conversation to ask her age. Lin Beila, initially surprised, answered that she was twenty-four.
Li Zhe's suspicions were confirmed, and after their meeting, he instructed his secretary to specifically investigate Lin Beila's activities in the year 2000. Li Zhe believes Lin Beila is connected to the mysterious murder of his mother sixteen years ago. He later visited an old quadrangle to meet with the former police officer who handled his mother's case.
The officer recounted that only a syringe needle mark was found on Li Zhe's mother's body, and police could not find any drug that matched the cause of death. Furthermore, only Li Zhe's and the nanny's fingerprints were found inside the villa, but a suspicious fingerprint on the doorknob belonged to someone who had died ten years prior. These inexplicable circumstances led to the investigation being shelved, making it a cold case.
Li Zhe, now grown, is determined to find his mother's killer and strongly believes that Lin Beila, a director at Yinhua, holds a crucial clue to this long-unsolved mystery. Meanwhile, Chun Shan, having been unemployed, decided to return to work, appearing in a suit, a stark contrast to his usual casual style. After discussing job details, he left the company and accidentally bumped into his ex-girlfriend, Lisa.
She happily called out to him, but Chun Shan showed no surprise, only mockery and disdain. Lisa had, in fact, recommended him for this job, surprised he accepted. As they walked together, she cautiously brought up their past, admitting she abandoned him during a vulnerable time when his mother suffered from depression, dealing a fatal blow to his heart. Seeing him "returned to full strength," Lisa hoped to reconcile.
However, Chun Shan coldly rejected her, stating he already had someone he liked and asking her to "please take care" in their future professional relationship as colleagues, nothing more. Early one morning, Gu Shiyi visited Xue Ji, sharing his new single with her as she was the first person he thought of. Xue Ji, initially caught off guard while wearing a face mask, quickly rushed back to her room to apply makeup before greeting him.
She loved the song and planned to play it on repeat at home. Gu Shiyi, observing her happiness, found himself curious about Xue Ji's "thousand-year past" and wondered why she no longer seemed to obsess over finding answers to her dreams, a pursuit she was once very dedicated to. Outside, Lin Beila, who had been tracking them, sat in her car, muttering that despite Xue Ji living for many years, she would still ultimately die by the same man's hand.
As Xue Ji walked Gu Shiyi out, he spotted Lin Beila's car, recognizing it as one that had been tracking him. Gu Shiyi cautiously approached the vehicle, warning Xue Ji to stay still. Realizing she had been discovered, Lin Beila quickly reversed her car, then, with ruthless intent, accelerated and drove directly towards Gu Shiyi. Seeing Gu Shiyi in danger, Xue Ji courageously rushed forward, pushing him aside.
Both fell to the roadside; Gu Shiyi was unharmed, but Xue Ji injured her leg. Li Zhe, arriving by car and witnessing the incident, rushed forward, suggesting that if he had been there, Xue Ji would not have been hurt. However, Gu Shiyi blocked him, then gently carried the injured Xue Ji home, under Li Zhe's gaze. At home, Gu Shiyi was heartbroken by Xue Ji's injury, but she reassured him it was minor.
Feeling responsible for involving her in danger, Gu Shiyi made her promise never to get sick or injured again. Xue Ji, deeply moved, nodded repeatedly and hugged him tightly, and they embraced and fell asleep. Gu Shiyi was then plagued by a nightmare: he saw himself in a wedding chamber, plunging a dagger into Xue Ji's heart, amidst images of red and death.
He awoke in a cold sweat, only to discover that Xue Ji's leg injury had completely healed without a trace. This inexplicable healing, combined with Xue Ji's past remark about people dying when it's their time, made Gu Shiyi increasingly suspicious. His growing unease prompted him to reread some books he had been researching, where he found the story of "Liu Xue Ji."
The text described how in the third year of Jiading during the Southern Song Dynasty, amidst war and chaos, an upright official named Liu Zhi and his daughter, Xue Ji, were part of a respected family. After Xue Ji was betrothed, Liu Zhi was framed. While traveling to the capital with his family to appeal to the emperor, they were ambushed and killed, their bodies left in the wilderness.
That night, amidst thunder and lightning, a meteor fell, causing a blinding light. Xue Ji and her relatives, Liu Yu and Han, miraculously revived and vanished. Rumors spread that Xue Ji's blood could cure all diseases and extend life, but "Liu Xue Ji" was never seen again. Reading this account, Gu Shiyi felt a profound sense of unease as he looked at the sleeping Xue Ji.
Later, Xue Ji confided in Chun Shan that Jiang Huai now knew her true identity. Chun Shan, curious, asked about Jiang Huai's reaction, to which Xue Ji revealed that Jiang Huai was initially very resistant but had since accepted it. Chun Shan then asked Xue Ji if Gu Shiyi was aware of her true condition or identity.
