> Long For You Recap

Xue Ji, having existed for over a thousand years, has witnessed the world's myriad wonders and the cycle of life and death, finding little meaning in her prolonged existence. Despite this, she has spent millennia searching every corner of the world for a specific face hidden deep within her dreams. The castle owner, Li Shizong, lay dying. His butler, Tao De, reported that Xue Ji would not visit him. Li Shizong, still clinging to life, made his final arrangements.

He inquired about Xue Ji's well-being and, fulfilling a long-standing promise, bequeathed his entire massive fortune, amounting to 2. 1 billion, to Xue Ji before passing away. At Li Shizong's funeral, family members, including his wife Qin Si, gathered under black umbrellas. Their silence was not one of sorrow but of hidden motives and calculations concerning the coveted inheritance. They anxiously awaited the arrival of Xue Ji, the "illegitimate daughter" who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

Xue Ji, having lived on an isolated island for eighteen years, was enjoying her newfound freedom and exploring the world. Tao De eventually found her and asked her to return to handle the inheritance. Xue Ji, reflecting on her long-awaited exposure to the outside world, told him, "If I go back with you, I won't return" to the island, believing Tao De couldn't understand her profound longing for the world beyond the island.

Meanwhile, Qin Si was furious about the inheritance distribution. She confronted Tao De, who rebuffed her and warned her to be mindful of her private life. Undeterred, Qin Si conspired with her lover to orchestrate a secret, "accidental death" for Xue Ji, fearing that if the inheritance decision wasn't thwarted, she would lose both the money and expose her affair. Tao De and Xue Ji spent time exploring the streets of France.

Tao De informed her that Li Shizong had left her 2 billion USD. Xue Ji's first act after receiving her inheritance was to purchase her desired sports car, a Maserati, inspired by the male protagonist of a drama she was following. Xue Ji, fresh from playing games, delegated all management tasks to Tao De, showing a calm indifference.

When Tao De questioned her lack of sorrow over her father's death, Xue Ji explained that having lived for a thousand years, she viewed human life and death dispassionately. She noted that Li Shizong had lived to be eighty and that his death was merely a natural conclusion. Her primary emotion was gratitude for the freedom his passing had brought her from the isolated island.

Tao De also advised her to protect herself due to Li Shizong's extensive charitable activities, but Xue Ji trusted Tao De to handle the money, just as Li Shizong had. In the dark of night, a figure wearing a white cape and a bamboo hat repeatedly murmured "I'm sorry" before vanishing into the darkness.

Xue Ji jolted awake in her empty surroundings, still anxiously wondering when the person who consistently appeared in her dreams would finally manifest in reality, hoping to recover her memories. Xue Ji officially arrived at Li Shizong's castle as the illegitimate daughter. At a family dinner, she met Qin Si, Wen Lei (identified as the Second Madam in one account and the Third Madam in another), Lisa (the eldest wife's daughter), and the Second Madam's children, Xue Li and Koni.

Xue Li mentioned that Li Zhe, identified as either the non-biological or adopted son of Wen Lei, had not yet arrived. The atmosphere at the table, despite appearing harmonious, was filled with veiled attempts to probe Xue Ji's identity and her plans for the inheritance. Koni questioned how she would manage the property, and Qin Si directly asked if she was Li Shizong's biological daughter.

Xue Ji, seeking an excuse to leave the family gathering, encountered Li Zhe, who offered to give her a ride home. She tacitly agreed, walked out with him, but then refused his offer, opting instead to get into Tao De's car which had just arrived. This interaction significantly piqued Li Zhe's initial curiosity about Xue Ji.

Xue Ji embarked on a refreshing solo journey, exploring the streets of France, admiring foreign landscapes from high vantage points, and playfully interacting with street performers, fulfilling long-held desires from her time on the island. Li Zhe visited Xue Ji, bringing a cake. While Xue Ji was unpacking parcels, Li Zhe recounted his childhood visit to the island, where he had met Xue Ji's mother, whose solitary figure had left a lasting impression.

Xue Ji, visibly uncomfortable, subtly steered the conversation away from her mother. Their friendly discussions quickly fostered familiarity between them. Li Zhe then took Xue Ji to the seaside, where, as dusk settled, Xue Ji spoke of her dreams, expressing her desire to find the recurring figure to unlock her memories, a sentiment Li Zhe struggled to comprehend. Later, Xue Ji borrowed Li Zhe's car and drove down a secluded road, unaware that Qin Si's henchmen were closely following her. The assassins, having tracked her movements, blocked her car. One raised a gun, aimed, and fired. With a "bang," Xue Ji was shot directly in the heart.
