Zhou Jue poured out his frustrations to A Yi, expressing his dismay that Yuan Shikai's vast Beiyang Army had effectively consumed China. He firmly believed that if they could amass a revolutionary armed force capable of matching Yuan Shikai, Sun Yat-sen would never have compromised. A Yi concurred, affirming that genuine revolutionary power was the key to victory. Zhou Jue noted that A Yi seemed to have matured significantly overnight.

After a tense meeting with Lord Deqi, Chong Liming isolated himself in his room, leaving Yu Chu, Wen Gou, and others in uncertainty about their next move. Wen Gou worried about Mr. Jin's recent overtures, while Wagner insisted on staying to capture Yang Zhen for A Yi's revenge, dismissing the idea of returning to the capital now that the Emperor had abdicated. Can Yan Xin urged patience, reminding them that Chong Liming would decide their course.

Concerned by Chong Liming's prolonged silence, Yu Chu entered his room to confront him. Chong Liming revealed a new Yan Shi Fan secret order from the capital: a decree to execute Lord Deqi. Yu Chu was stunned, recognizing it as a blatant frame-up by the court, designed to provoke war between Lord Deqi and Yuan Shikai.

Chong Liming admitted that belief in the accusation was irrelevant; the court merely sought a pretext to reignite conflict, having given up on Yuan Shikai. Meanwhile, Mr. Jin, having received an invitation to the Qing government's farewell reception at the Ritz Hotel, delegated Hua Jiuqing to attend on his behalf. Unbeknownst to them, Yang Zhen had been listening.

He intended to exploit the situation, using Chong Liming to eliminate Deqi, thereby creating an opportunity for the Youth Gang to then dispose of Chong Liming and his group. Yang Zhen presented Mr. Jin with a document appointing him as the Fan Zhu of the Yan Shi Fan, solidifying Mr. Jin's trust. Just as Chong Liming was about to give Yu Chu a carefully chosen ring, Can Yan Xin called Yu Chu away, stating someone was looking for her downstairs.

This turned out to be Mr. Jin, who informed Yu Chu that he also possessed a secret order from Lord Zhe Yu. This order instructed Yu Chu and Chong Liming to assassinate Lord Deqi and any attending foreign delegates at the upcoming reception. Mr. Jin relayed Lord Zhe Yu's explicit message: completing the mission would earn them recognition as heroes for restoring the Qing Dynasty, but any disobedience would result in their deaths upon returning to the capital.

Mr. Jin pressed Yu Chu to ensure Deqi's elimination. A Yi and Zhou Jue prepared to return to Guangzhou. Chong Liming came to bid A Yi farewell. A Yi, reflecting on their shared aspirations for a strong nation, urged Chong Liming not to remain bound by the now-fallen Qing court but to forge his own future. Chong Liming, however, remained resolute in his current path.

Simultaneously, Yu Chu, impeccably dressed and armed with a handgun, went to collect Lord Deqi for the reception. Lord Deqi assured her he would join her shortly. Si San and the others noted Yu Chu's unusual determination to attend the reception alone, despite Chong Liming having instructed everyone to stay away from the reception. The farewell reception commenced, with Lord Deqi present in his Qing official uniform, and Mary accompanied by Leon.

Lord Deqi expressed his surprise at China's shift to a republic and his uncertainty about the future, with Leon acknowledging his feelings and mentioning his own imminent return to Beijing. Mary approached Yu Chu, apologizing for her past actions, including an earlier kidnapping attempt, and bid her farewell as she was leaving for England. Mary had earlier offered Yu Chu a drink, which Yu Chu declined, stating they were not yet at that point.

Hua Jiuqing then subtly created an opportunity by drawing Mary away, leaving Yu Chu in a position to execute her mission. Chong Liming, returning from seeing A Yi off, was visibly troubled. When informed that Yu Chu had gone to the reception alone, he immediately sensed danger and rushed to the venue. There, he found Yu Chu aiming her handgun at Lord Deqi.

Chong Liming intervened, but Yu Chu, fearing Lord Zhe Yu's inevitable retribution against all of them, including Chong Liming, insisted she had to complete the assassination. Chong Liming dismissed her fears, declaring that they would simply not return to the capital. He proposed abandoning their past lives and embarking on a journey to sail the world together. Yu Chu, heartbroken, lamented that with the demise of the Qing Dynasty, she had lost her home.

Kneeling, Chong Liming reassured her that wherever she was, that would be his home, and asked her to marry him. Overwhelmed and in tears, Yu Chu accepted, and Chong Liming placed the ring on her finger. They embraced deeply, as Si San, Wagner, and Wen Gou, who had witnessed the heartfelt proposal, applauded and cheered. After the proposal, the group continued to celebrate. Wen Gou lightheartedly called Yu Chu "sister-in-law."

Hua Jiuqing offered a toast, congratulating the couple and extending an offer of future assistance should Chong Liming ever visit Beijing. Chong Liming, however, indicated he likely wouldn't return to the capital. Mary also approached, urging them to consider staying in Shanghai before announcing her departure for England, explaining that her purpose in China had ended with the exposure of Kelilin and the closure of Taihe foreign bank, and that China was not her homeland.

Yu Chu gently reminded Mary that despite her British upbringing, Chinese blood flowed in her veins, and China was her true motherland. Mary, with a pained smile, responded that China had only brought her suffering and sorrow, and that there was no need for others to understand. She then shook Chong Liming's hand, bidding him farewell. Chong Liming then invited Yu Chu to dance, and they gracefully moved across the dance floor.

Later, as Chong Liming and Yu Chu shared an intimate moment in a corridor, they noticed suspicious individuals moving explosives into the basement. Investigating, they discovered the area being rigged. Chong Liming instructed Yu Chu to return and alert Wen Gou and the others, while he remained to prevent any premature detonation. However, before Yu Chu could leave, Yang Zhen arrived with Youth Gang members.

Yang Zhen, now proclaiming himself the new Fan Zhu of the Yan Shi Fan, announced his intention to eliminate Chong Liming, accusing Yu Chu of betraying the court. He revealed that Lord Zhe Yu had ordered him to monitor Chong Liming due to suspicions of their secret alliance with revolutionary forces. Chong Liming fiercely engaged the Youth Gang members, quickly dispatching several. As Chong Liming fought Yang Zhen, two more gang members joined the fray.

Seizing the moment, Yang Zhen grabbed a gun and aimed it at Chong Liming. Yu Chu, shouting a warning, threw a dagger to intercept the bullet, but it tragically struck her forehead, killing her instantly. Chong Liming, utterly devastated, cradled her lifeless body, desperately pleading with her to wake up and reminding her of their promise to marry.
