Chong Liming was deeply worried as Yuchu and Si San had not returned after the match. When asked by a follower if he was still concerned, he was reassured that Yuchu's skills meant she would likely be fine, unless Si San caused trouble. Meanwhile, Wen Gou was interrogating the captured assassin, who proved to be a "hard bone," refusing to disclose the mastermind. Wen Gou noted that such assassins often work in layers, preventing them from knowing their ultimate employers.
Suddenly, Si San rushed in, reporting that their mission had failed and Yuchu had been captured. While being held, Yuchu furiously confronted Leon, after learning that he and William plotted Chong Liming's death. She vehemently denied that Keliline was harmless, arguing that their investigation revealed its hallucinogenic and addictive effects were stronger and harder to overcome than opium. She vowed that their team would continue to investigate until the truth was fully exposed.
Leon, however, simply dismissed her accusations, labeling her a thief and wondering how Chong Liming would rescue her this time. Chong Liming immediately sought help from Deqi. Deqi was exasperated, chastising Chong Liming for sending Yuchu to steal the Keliline pharmacological report, which resulted in her capture. He reminded Chong Liming of the delicate peace talks and the importance of not offending foreigners, questioning who would bear the responsibility if the talks were jeopardized.
Chong Liming admitted his fault but stressed Yuchu's status as a princess and urged Deqi, as a prince and negotiator, to intervene with Inspector Huang immediately. Deqi initially wanted to wait until morning, but Chong Liming insisted on going that night, fearing further complications. On arrival at Inspector Huang's office, Deqi prevented Chong Liming from entering, knowing Chong Liming's pride would hinder any soft pleas. Inside, Deqi pleaded with Inspector Huang to release Yuchu, highlighting her royal lineage.
Huang, however, stated it was too late as Yuchu had already been handed over to Taihe foreign company. He blamed Chong Liming's group for offending the powerful Far East Company by investigating Keliline, explaining that in the concession, he was powerless against them and could only follow their directives. Huang advised Deqi to seek Mary, the true power behind the Far East Company in Shanghai. Deqi returned to Chong Liming, informing him that Yuchu had been taken.
Chong Liming, distraught, asked for any condition to save Yuchu, saying he would do anything. Deqi revealed Mary's terms: Chong Liming must apologize to Mary, immediately withdraw from the competition, cease all investigation into Keliline, and publish a public apology admitting his accusations against Keliline were baseless. Chong Liming vehemently refused, accusing Deqi and the court of prioritizing foreign interests over the public's well-being and questioning their own integrity.
He declared that he would rescue Yuchu through his own means, without their help. Later, Mary discussed Chong Liming with Leon, stating she had found his weakness. Chong Liming then confronted Mary at Taihe foreign company. He directly demanded Yuchu's release, accusing Mary of hiring assassins to kill him during the match.
Mary, however, remained calm, denying the allegations and offering her terms again: Chong Liming must hold a press conference to announce his withdrawal from the competition, and she would release Yuchu. When Chong Liming refused, calling her "shameless," William stepped in, threatening to bring Yuchu to the final to watch him compete. Enraged, Chong Liming grabbed William, warning him that he had never been threatened before and would pursue him anywhere in the world if he dared to harm Yuchu.
Mary, observing Chong Liming's intense devotion, asked what made Yuchu so captivating. Chong Liming simply told her to look in the mirror to find the answer. After Chong Liming left, Mary questioned William about the assassination plot, which he admitted Leon had arranged without her full knowledge, to protect their interests. Mary agreed to proceed with bringing Yuchu to the match, believing it would break Chong Liming.
Back at the Ritz Hotel, a dejected Chong Liming was consumed by worry for Yuchu, feeling helpless and unable to protect her. A Yi tried to inspire him, emphasizing his new role as a national hero and the hope he represented for the Chinese people. He urged Chong Liming to win the championship to awaken patriotism and show China's strength.
Chong Liming, burdened by the responsibility, implored A Yi to rescue Yuchu, stating he could never forgive himself if anything happened to her. A Yi promised to save Yuchu and even tell her how devoted Chong Liming was. Meanwhile, Da Qiao was drinking at a bar when Leon approached him, stressing the national importance of the final match and warning Da Qiao that failure would mean he couldn't return to England.
Da Qiao, confident, assured Leon he would defeat Chong Liming. On the morning of the final, enthusiastic crowds gathered outside the Ritz Hotel, chanting support for Chong Liming and China. Mary, however, prepared to execute her plan. She tried to force Yuchu to eat, but Yuchu refused. Mary then explained that Yuchu was her "bet" to make Chong Liming withdraw. She reveled in the idea that Yuchu was Chong Liming's weakness, making him vulnerable.
Mary injected Yuchu with a muscle relaxant, reassuring her it was not lethal, but merely a means to control her. Yuchu, though weakened, still believed Chong Liming would win. Mary, holding a pistol, vowed to shoot Yuchu if Chong Liming won the match. At the arena, William attempted to instruct Da Qiao, telling him to quickly defeat Chong Liming, who would be distracted by Yuchu's presence.
Da Qiao, offended, furiously sent William away, asserting his ability to win on his own. Chong Liming confided in A Yi that he was more anxious than ever, as Yuchu's life was at stake. A Yi outlined his rescue plan: during the second round, while Mary's attention was on the match, he would rescue Yuchu, ensuring no firearms were used to avoid endangering her. A banner would be displayed after Yuchu was safely extracted.
The final match commenced amidst great anticipation. Da Qiao warned Chong Liming not to be distracted. The two fighters exchanged blows, but in an early round, the towering Da Qiao powerfully threw Chong Liming to the ground, who struggled to get back up. Mary, watching with Yuchu, gloated that Chong Liming was already weakening, attributing it to Yuchu. Yuchu, despite her dazed state, insisted Chong Liming would win.
As the match continued, Yang Zhen, disguised as a waiter, delivered a special dry martini to Mary's box. Yuchu recognized him, understanding Chong Liming's covert operation. In the stands, Mr. Su and Zhou Jue noticed Chong Liming's distracted gaze towards Mary's box. Zhou Jue commented on Chong Liming's unique charisma and expressed his belief that "such a person will not lose." The rescue operation then escalated. A Yi received a signal confirming Mary's location, then quickly knocked out a guard.
Mary, hearing the commotion, stepped outside to investigate. At that moment, Kexin cut the arena's main power, plunging the venue into darkness and chaos. In the ensuing confusion, A Yi swiftly rescued Yuchu. Mary, returning to find Yuchu gone, realized too late that the "special dry martini" had contained a neutralizer, reversing the effects of the muscle relaxant she had administered.
