Lian Er desperately wanted to remain in the capital, but Hua Jiuqing adamantly refused, instructing him to return to the General Hall to face Mr. Jin’s judgment for his past wrongdoings. Hua Jiuqing reminded him that the old man's temper was well-known, and while he would blame Lian Er for violating gang rules and private trading, taking out all the money and integrating new business into the gang, along with finding a scapegoat, could be a remedy.

Lian Er, having already found his scapegoat in Manager Xu, expressed his pain at potentially losing his position as hall owner, as well as his inability to simply return to being an ordinary person, saying he wasn't destined for such a life. He then revealed that he had converted all his silver into gold bars and had A Yi, disguised as a waiter, bring them out to Hua Jiuqing.

A Yi then attacked Hua Jiuqing with a dagger, slashing her arm, and Lian Er joined the assault. Suddenly, Chongliming arrived, firing a warning shot and apprehending both Lian Er and A Yi. A Yi pleaded with Chongliming to release Lian Er. Chongliming exposed Lian Er’s true intentions: using A Yi to assassinate Hua Jiuqing was a calculated move to divert attention, pin all crimes on the Yan Shi Fan, and then offer a fall guy to the General Hall.

Speechless, Lian Er could only listen as Chongliming offered him a deal: help deal with the old Yan Shi Fan members, and in return, he would be sent to America after the mission was complete, with all his gold bars returned. Lian Er, having no other choice, reluctantly agreed. Later, Yang Zhen bumped into A Yi, causing the gold bars A Yi was carrying to fall.

Yang Zhen, curious about A Yi's whereabouts the previous night, pressed him for answers, but A Yi gave evasive excuses. Chongliming was still unsure of the real reason behind Rui Zhen and Mu Yi's attempts to kill A Yi. A Yi also pretended to be in the dark, urging Chongliming to expedite the elimination of the old Yan Shi Fan members to prevent further complications.

Chongliming and A Yi devised a plan: Chongliming would lure the old Yan Shi Fan members to the back hall of the Tangkou, where Lian Er would be waiting to kill them. A Yi delivered a cannon to Lian Er, emphasizing the importance of meticulous execution. Lian Er, while outwardly confident, secretly vowed to eliminate both Chongliming and the old Yan Shi Fan members.

Meanwhile, Wen Gou, Si San, Wagner, Yang Zhen, and Ke Yan Xin prepared for the ambush, ready to wipe out the old guard. They strictly adhered to Chongliming’s instruction to keep the operation a secret from Yu Chu. As Rui Zhen and Mu Yi remained missing, the old Yan Shi Fan members grew uneasy, threatening to overthrow Chongliming. Chongliming convened a meeting, revealing the truth of Rui Zhen and Mu Yi's deaths, blaming Lian Er and A Yi.

He recounted the massacre of the Horse Thief village thirteen years ago, falsely claiming Lian Er had bribed Xiao Ke to conspire with A Yi to eradicate the Yan Shi Fan. Chongliming stated that A Yi and Lian Er were captured and held at the Qingbang Tangkou, which the old Yan Shi Fan members believed. After setting everything in motion, Chongliming visited A Yi that night. A Yi again pleaded for Lian Er's life.

Chongliming, aware of A Yi's existing knowledge, explained how Lian Er had manipulated him. A Yi admitted he was aware of Lian Er’s deceptive nature, but insisted on participating in the battle the next day to witness his enemies’ demise. Chongliming then tasked A Yi with keeping a close eye on Lian Er to prevent any unforeseen changes.

That night, a young boy delivered a note to Yang Zhen, instructing him to go to the Yunlian private room at Shanglin Xianguan if he wished to save Ruowan. Yang Zhen inquired about the messenger, but the boy quickly fled. Without delay, Yang Zhen rushed to Shanglin Xianguan, only to find Lian Er waiting for him. They fought, and Yang Zhen was subdued.

Lian Er blackmailed Yang Zhen, demanding that he retrieve the gold bars from Shenji camp mansion in exchange for Ruowan's freedom, threatening to force his mother into prostitution otherwise. Concerned about Chongliming's intentions, the old Yan Shi Fan members dispatched a messenger to Prince Zhe Yu that night. Prince Zhe Yu sent Yu Chu to the Yan Shi Fan headquarters. There, the members informed her of Rui Zhen and Mu Yi's deaths and implicated Lian Er and A Yi.

Yu Chu’s visible shock confirmed their suspicions about A Yi’s identity. Convinced by Chongliming’s narrative and Yu Chu's reaction, they resolved to proceed with the original plan the following day to eliminate A Yi and Lian Er. The next morning, Yu Chu immediately went to Shenji camp mansion, demanding to see A Yi.

Chongliming, refusing to disclose A Yi's location, argued with her until she tearfully revealed that A Yi was her brother and she couldn't stand by while he faced danger. Witnessing this commotion, Yang Zhen seized the opportunity to sneak into Chongliming's room to search for the gold bars. Unable to sway Yu Chu, Chongliming eventually led her to A Yi.

Upon seeing him, Yu Chu urged him to leave the city immediately, but A Yi refused and knocked her unconscious to prevent her interference. As Yang Zhen emerged with the stolen gold bars, Wen Gou, Si San, Ke Yan Xin, and Wagner were already geared up, urging him to prepare. Distraught by his mother’s plight, Yang Zhen quickly dismissed them and rushed out. He handed the gold bars to Lian Er, demanding his mother's release.

However, Lian Er stalled, refusing to set Ruowan free until his own plans were complete, despite Yang Zhen’s desperate pleas. With Yang Zhen gone, Wen Gou and Si San reluctantly proceeded to their designated positions. Meanwhile, a desperate Manager Xu sought out Hua Jiuqing, revealing Lian Er's plan to make him a scapegoat and the location of Lian Er's secret vault in the back hall of the General Hall, whose mechanism only Lian Er and he knew.

The old Yan Shi Fan members arrived at the Qingbang Tangkou on schedule, with Chongliming following shortly after. Lian Er had positioned the cannon on a rooftop opposite the Tangkou. A Yi silently joined him, and Lian Er immediately recognized that A Yi was there to monitor him, just as Chongliming had instructed.

They conversed about the impending revenge, with A Yi emphasizing its importance as the sole purpose of his return to the capital, and Lian Er reflecting on their changed paths since the Horse Thief village massacre.
