Can Yan Xin, mistaking Lin Gongzi for a rebel, shot and wounded his leg. Xi Xian Er was deeply distressed, yelling at Chong Liming for his actions. Chong Liming tried to persuade her to see reason, but Xi Xian Er, frustrated, ran off, asserting her right to be "silly" for someone she chose.

Meanwhile, Qinger stood daily at the lamb soup shop, not for Lian Er, but for Lord Mu Yi, who arrived asking Old Horse Head and Qinger about A Yi's identity and his relationship with Chong Liming. Chong Liming suddenly appeared, declaring A Yi a displaced person and forbidding Lord Mu Yi from digging further. Simultaneously, Rui Zhen pressed Yang Zhen for information about A Yi.

Yang Zhen was initially hesitant to get involved but relented when Rui Zhen emphasized the stakes and promised to recommend him for a permanent position within the Brilliant Situation. Yang Zhen then revealed A Yi was a survivor from Horse Thief village and had previously attempted to assassinate Chong Liming. A Yi was busy preparing bread when Chong Liming returned home and immediately shared the news of Rui Zhen and Lord Mu Yi's covert investigation.

A Yi proposed using the death of Qi Belle to eliminate older Brilliant Situation members and suggested involving Lian Er in the plan. Chong Liming firmly refused to bring anyone else into their secret. A Yi offered Chong Liming a taste of his homemade bread, and Chong Liming instructed A Yi to subtly ascertain Lian Er's true feelings, while he himself would look into the extent of Rui Zhen and Lord Mu Yi's investigation.

Later that night, Qinger, while Old Horse Head was asleep, secretly went to Shanglin Xianguan to find Lian Er. Manager Xu lied, claiming Lian Er hadn't been there for two days, and gently dismissed Qinger when she wished to wait. In reality, Lian Er was inside, instructing Manager Xu to convert all his money into gold bars in preparation to flee, wanting to avoid any romantic entanglements.

At the same time, Rui Zhen and Lord Mu Yi compiled their gathered intelligence, confirming A Yi's identity as a survivor from Horse Thief village. They decided to capture A Yi for interrogation and then jointly petition Lord Zhe Yu. A Yi sought out Lian Er, first demanding that he stop deceiving Qinger unless he intended to marry her. He then asked for Lian Er's help in seeking revenge.

Lian Er was reluctant to take such risks, insisting that Chong Liming was orchestrating everything. Despite A Yi's earnest pleas, Lian Er, haunted by memories of the massacre, remained conflicted and was already preoccupied with internal Youth Gang audits. Just then, Lord Mu Yi and Rui Zhen ambushed A Yi and Lian Er, seizing them and dragging them into a forest. Rui Zhen pressed A Yi to reveal his relationship with Chong Liming and any alleged conspiracies.

Unexpectedly, Lian Er turned on A Yi, falsely accusing him and Chong Liming of conspiring to steal his account books and unite to oppose the older Brilliant Situation members. A Yi was enraged by this betrayal. Lian Er then pretended to beat A Yi, subtly slipping him a small knife. Lian Er continued to stall Rui Zhen and Lord Mu Yi with further dramatic accusations, buying A Yi crucial time to cut his restraints.

Once free, A Yi swiftly incapacitated Rui Zhen and wounded Lord Mu Yi. A Yi and Lian Er then joined forces to overpower them, declaring their intent to avenge their entire village and their parents. A Yi demanded to know the true purpose behind the massacre. Lord Mu Yi reluctantly admitted that Yang Ming had been searching for his illegitimate son, who could have been either Lian Er or A Yi.

Rui Zhen then elaborated, explaining that over a decade ago, Yang Ming had married Ruowan, a Mongolian noblewoman. During a visit to her family, Ruowan was abducted by horse thieves. For two years, her whereabouts were unknown. When Yang Ming finally located her, she was in Horse Thief village and had given birth to a son. Mistakenly believing the child was born of Ruowan and a horse thief, Yang Ming abandoned the infant and took Ruowan back.

However, Ruowan's grief and longing for her son drove her to madness, and she eventually confessed that the abandoned child was, in fact, Yang Ming's own son. Consumed by regret, Yang Ming led a force back to Horse Thief village, ordering the capture of all boys aged seven or eight. During the raid, Yang Ming himself was injured while relentlessly pursuing one particular boy, who ultimately vanished without a trace.

After hearing Rui Zhen's account, Lian Er deduced that he was not Yang Ming's son and immediately shot Rui Zhen dead. Lord Mu Yi, terrified, pleaded for his life, accidentally blurting out that they had also killed Lord Shen Xiu, Chong Liming's father. Enraged by this revelation, A Yi shot and killed Lord Mu Yi. A Yi immediately relayed this information to Chong Liming, who then learned that Rui Zhen and Lord Mu Yi were responsible for his father's death.

Chong Liming's Brilliant Situation had received a secret order, having discovered Lord Shen Xiu was an Imperial party member, and that night, they violently raided and purged Lord Shen Xiu's residence. A Yi suggested to Lian Er that they return to their village, but Lian Er, feeling unable to escape the complications involving Hua Jiuqing, asked A Yi to kill her instead. Meanwhile, Chong Liming confronted Hua Jiuqing, demanding to know her purpose in the capital.

She admitted she was there on orders to "clean house" within the Youth Gang. Chong Liming used this opportunity to try and form an alliance with the Youth Gang. A Yi escorted Lian Er back to the Youth Gang headquarters, where Lian Er confessed to Hua Jiuqing that he had embezzled 200,000 taels of silver and planned to make Manager Xu his scapegoat.
