While sick, he grows cold and distant towards Situ Mo, asking her to inform him beforehand when she brings friends home. Concerned, Situ Mo calls Wang Shan for advice on making porridge for someone with a fever. Wang Shan offers detailed cooking instructions, and despite Situ Mo's playful remark about letting him starve, she agrees to come over and help.
Meanwhile, Wang Shan attempts to convince Fu Pei to visit Gu Weiyi. Fu Pei initially pretends to be asleep and expresses reluctance, stating Situ Mo doesn't want to see him after he caused trouble at the basketball court. Wang Shan presses him, noting that Situ Mo didn't give him a chance to explain, and insists on taking him along to the apartment. Situ Mo brings Gu Weiyi water and a thermometer.
He wants her to stay with him while he takes his temperature, but she tells him she will check on him after ten minutes. Upon her return, she confirms his high fever and insists they go to the hospital. Gu Weiyi refuses, admitting he is afraid of injections, despite having already taken medicine. As they argue, Wang Shan and Fu Pei arrive.
Wang Shan suggests that Situ Mo and Fu Pei go buy dried tangerine peel for the porridge, hoping they can resolve their misunderstandings during the outing. While walking to the store, Situ Mo receives a call from Gu Weiyi's mother, Aunt Xu. Aunt Xu mentions that Gu Weiyi gets sick easily with changes in weather and has a deep fear of injections, which prevents him from going to the hospital.
Situ Mo assures her that she will take good care of him. Aunt Xu also warns her that Gu Weiyi can be "terrible" when angry, though Situ Mo finds it amusing, noting he just becomes cold and quiet. Fu Pei tries to reminisce about their high school days, but Situ Mo corrects his faulty memories. She then definitively tells Fu Pei that she no longer likes him.
When she asks if he likes Wang Shan, Fu Pei admits he doesn't know, which frustrates Situ Mo, leading her to angrily tell him to "go to hell" before walking away, leaving him dejected. Returning home, Situ Mo finds Gu Weiyi still cold and silent, simmering with jealousy. He reiterates his demand that she inform him before bringing friends over. Gu Weiyi's responses remain curt and distant, making Situ Mo feel angry and ignored. She mentions her day off and suggests they cook lunch together, but he replies that he will simply order food delivery. In response, Situ Mo sarcastically mutters for him to let his senior take care of him. At the university, as Fu Pei heads to his exam, he recalls Situ Mo asking about his feelings for Wang Shan.
His thoughts are interrupted by Wang Shan, who has come to see him off. She stresses the importance of the exam, hands him a bag of supplies, and instructs him to be thorough and not leave early, promising to wait for him. Fu Pei, finding her behavior mother-like, heads into the exam hall after she wishes him luck. During the exam, he reflects on Wang Shan's unwavering support.
After the exam, Wang Shan initiates a conversation with Fu Pei, expressing her frustration with their unresolved situation. She tells him she likes him profoundly but feels increasingly humbled, realizing she cannot replace Situ Mo in his heart or endure his lingering thoughts of her. Fu Pei, after a moment of reflection, shares his feelings. He confesses that he was confused about his emotions and used her presumed dislike for him as an excuse to avoid acknowledging his true feelings.
He admits that he sees his flaws when with her but appreciates how she silently mends them. He realizes he genuinely likes her and declares that he will relentlessly pursue her until she accepts him, stating that pride means nothing if it means losing her. Wang Shan, moved by his heartfelt confession, asks if he is serious. He confirms, then playfully threatens to hit himself with a stone if she doesn't agree to be with him.
Wang Shan calls him "crazy" but ultimately accepts his proposal with a smile. Back at the apartment, Situ Mo is testing various orange juices for a company project while Gu Weiyi remains aloof. Xie Yuyin arrives with a parcel for Gu Weiyi, stating she was sent by the lab to check on his health, as Zhou Lei is considering allowing him back.
Xie Yuyin immediately recognizes the item in the parcel as a microscope and demonstrates her extensive knowledge of its features, like its polarized capabilities, computer connectivity, two-way synchronous magnification calibration, and its use for studying polypropylene spherocrystals. Situ Mo feels increasingly overshadowed and ignored. Xie Yuyin then suggests she and Gu Weiyi go out for a meal. Gu Weiyi asks Situ Mo if she wants to join, but she declines.
Feeling angry and left out, Situ Mo posts a sarcastic message on her social media about finishing "a pot of porridge." While at the restaurant with Xie Yuyin, Gu Weiyi notices Situ Mo's social media post and the comments from her friends, realizing the porridge was meant for him out of concern. He abruptly leaves Xie Yuyin after paying for her meal and rushes home, finding Situ Mo taking out the trash.
He reminds her to tear off the shipping label due to personal information. Situ Mo notices that the microscope was sent to the new campus address, questioning why it wasn't sent to their current lab. Just then, Xie Yuyin calls Gu Weiyi, and he speaks with her while looking at a focused Situ Mo, who still feels a pang of jealousy. Situ Mo's irritation continues back in the apartment, and she accidentally breaks a mug.
Gu Weiyi rushes out to help, but she angrily tells him not to bother, remarking sarcastically that her cleaning can't possibly compare to his senior's meticulousness. Gu Weiyi, missing the underlying jab, agrees that Xie Yuyin indeed cleans the lab very well. Their cleaning robot, Circle, attempts to clean the glass shards and gets damaged. Gu Weiyi immediately expresses concern for Circle, picking it up tenderly. Situ Mo, still fuming, snaps, "Do you want me to pay with my life?"
The two part ways, still unhappy with each other. Later, Situ Mo puts a small Doraemon bandage on Circle, an act that secretly touches Gu Weiyi. The next morning, Gu Weiyi arrives at the lab empty-handed. Zhou Lei and Prof. Jiang question him about the missing microscope and jokingly speculate that Situ Mo must have gone to see her ex-boyfriend again. Xie Yuyin then arrives, casually mentioning that the microscope is on Gu Weiyi's coffee table at home.
This unexpected revelation surprises Prof. Jiang. Zhou Lei seizes the opportunity to accuse Gu Weiyi and Xie Yuyin of colluding to exclude him from their research, leading to a heated argument between him and Xie Yuyin. Prof. Jiang, observing Gu Weiyi's distress, finally realizes that Situ Mo must be feeling jealous. Later, at the cafeteria, Situ Mo encounters Xie Yuyin while topping up her card.
Situ Mo's roommate comments on Xie Yuyin's attractiveness, warning Situ Mo to be careful lest Gu Weiyi be "snatched away." Situ Mo dismisses the concern, claiming it's not her business. Xie Yuyin then sits down at Situ Mo's table, indicating she has something important to discuss.
