Young Ye Hua, still in the mortal realm, was consumed by thoughts of Bai Qian's appearance and voice after their brief encounter. He tirelessly searched through ancient texts and questioned his tutor, but no one seemed to know the location of Green Hill. Meanwhile, Su Jin descended to the mortal realm to see Ye Hua. He initially mistook her for Bai Qian and was visibly disappointed when he realized it wasn't her.
Just as in the Heavenly Palace, the mortal Ye Hua harbored no affection for Su Jin. Watching him in his youth, Su Jin recalled the days she spent by his side as a child. The more she remembered, the deeper her resentment grew, believing no other woman could compare to her long-standing companionship with Ye Hua. Transforming herself into his older cousin, Su Jin tried to be his companion, but Ye Hua found her presence annoying.
Back in Kunlun Void, Bai Qian was diligently cleaning the winery when Mo Yuan arrived. He teased her, remarking that the famously lazy Seventeenth disciple had unexpectedly become so industrious after 70,000 years. Bai Qian took the opportunity to ask Mo Yuan why he had accepted her as a disciple, despite knowing she was a woman and Kunlun Void's rules. Mo Yuan countered, asking her for her own thoughts.
Bai Qian pondered and then laughed, suggesting it must have been for Zhe Yan's sake, perhaps fearing the old phoenix would relentlessly bother him otherwise. Mo Yuan merely smiled in response. Mo Yuan then looked at Bai Qian and asked, "If I didn't use my soul as a sacrifice for the Donghuang Bell 70,000 years ago, would you still have remained in Kunlun Void until now?"
Although uncertain of his reason for asking, Bai Qian honestly replied that she would have, explaining her original intention to stay there for a long time. Mo Yuan smiled faintly and said that as a woman, she would marry sooner or later, and even if she wished to stay, her parents would likely object. Bai Qian, recalling her upcoming marriage to Ye Hua, felt a blush rise.
She admitted that at the time, she hadn't known Ye Hua and had no thoughts of being with anyone permanently. Mo Yuan softly echoed, "That's right. Ye Hua wasn't around then." Mo Yuan, after a moment of silence, asked, "Do you know why, for 70,000 years, I have been restoring my spirit without taking any breaks?" Bai Qian cheerfully answered that he must have done it for his disciples.
She reminded him that on the bank of Ruoshui, he had promised them he would return, and he never disappointed those close to him. Mo Yuan's eyes deepened as he looked at Bai Qian, stating, "I definitely did it for the one closest to me." Bai Qian, believing he referred to his disciples, smiled. Mo Yuan gently drew her into a hug.
Bai Qian sighed contentedly, reminiscing about when he saved her from the Winged Realm, recalling it felt just like this. She expressed her joy that he was finally back. Soon after, Zilan rushed into the winery to inform Bai Qian and Mo Yuan that a distinguished guest had arrived for Bai Qian in the main hall. It turned out to be A Li, who gleefully ran towards Bai Qian, repeatedly calling her "Mother."
The other disciples laughed, remarking that Bai Qian had such a big child before even getting married. Mo Yuan's eyes darkened as he realized the child's father was Ye Hua and that A Li was calling Bai Qian "Mother." A Li, unsure whether to address Mo Yuan as uncle or great grandmaster, left Bai Qian at a loss for words, so she advised him to ask his father when he returned.
In the mortal realm, Su Jin told young Ye Hua that his father had proposed marriage to her family. Enraged, Ye Hua declared he would immediately go to his father to reject the marriage. Su Jin tried to stop him, leading to an argument. Su Jin, noticing the bead bracelet Ye Hua constantly wore, tried to snatch it. Ye Hua fiercely protected it, then broke free and ran off.
His bookboy entered, scolding Su Jin for daring to touch the young master's bracelet, calling it his "life." Su Jin pressed him for information about the bracelet's origin, and the bookboy vaguely mentioned "Green Hill." Hearing this, Su Jin's hatred intensified. She returned to the Heavenly Palace and spent day and night meticulously carving a wooden figure based on a portrait of Su Su.
Meanwhile, Feng Jiu had returned to the Fox Den, where she refused to eat, drink, or sleep, continuously weeping. Mi Gu tried to comfort her, explaining that Bai Qian couldn't be the Fox Queen because she was destined to be the future Heavenly Consort, marrying into the Heavenly Tribe. However, Emperor Donghua was different, having already abdicated. He could reside anywhere, whether in the Heavenly Palace or Green Hill.
Mi Gu further reasoned that if Feng Jiu became the Fox Queen, she would have more opportunities to attend meetings in the Heavenly Palace and thus see Donghua frequently. Convinced by Mi Gu's logic, Feng Jiu's sadness turned to joy, and she eagerly asked Mi Gu to bring her the classics on becoming the Fox Queen.
Si Ming visited Feng Jiu, using her upcoming succession as Fox Queen as an excuse to present her with a gift: historical records from when Donghua was the co-ruler of Heaven. He hoped these records would help Feng Jiu understand Donghua better. After reading the ancient texts, Feng Jiu's face was drained of color. She confessed to Si Ming that it was no wonder even her aunt had urged her to give up on Donghua.
Si Ming then explained that Donghua's descent to the mortal realm for tribulation was not merely to experience human suffering, but to repay Feng Jiu a fated relationship. He elaborated that while in the Heavenly Palace, their fate was unchangeable, in the mortal realm, Donghua could defy destiny for her, and his feelings during that time were genuine. Hearing this, Feng Jiu immediately rushed to Tai Chen Palace.
At the same time, Jia Yun was reporting to Donghua about unusual movements from the Donghuang Bell. Donghua felt uneasy, suspecting that Mo Yuan's return and the unrest in the Winged Realm signaled impending trouble. Feng Jiu arrived at Tai Chen Palace and, in her haste, accidentally used her divine power, causing Donghua to fall. The impact injured him, confirming to Feng Jiu that Si Ming's earlier words about Donghua losing his powers after his mortal trial were true.
Trembling, Feng Jiu asked Donghua if his apparent coldness towards her was because his name was not on the Three Lives Stone. Donghua confirmed this, stating that his name would never appear there, and therefore, no one, including Feng Jiu, could have a predestined marriage with him. With a resolute look in her eyes, Feng Jiu drew Donghua's sword. She declared she refused to believe his name couldn't appear on the stone.
With that, she severed one of her own tails, explaining through gritted teeth that each tail of a Green Hill fox could condense into a magical artifact fueled by pure will, and she would use it to carve Donghua's name on the Three Lives Stone.
Enduring excruciating pain, Feng Jiu recalled Si Ming's earlier explanation: during the ancient wars of the Four Seas and Eight Wildernesses, Donghua, as the co-ruler of Heaven, had personally erased his name from the Three Lives Stone to make himself invulnerable. This act meant he would forever be solitary, and any relationship he formed would be ill-fated. Upon reaching the Three Lives Stone, Feng Jiu refused to believe her fate.
She desperately searched for Donghua's name but found no trace of it. Then, she discovered her own name, shockingly paired with another. Heartbroken, Feng Jiu stubbornly tried to carve Donghua's name, but no matter how hard she struggled, it would not appear. Finally, exhausted and overcome with pain, she collapsed.
Donghua quickly brought Feng Jiu back to Tai Chen Palace and instructed Si Ming to immediately return her to Green Hill, emphasizing that a nine-tailed fox severing its tail was akin to a mortal's heart being gouged out. Mi Gu, alarmed, transported Feng Jiu to Kunlun Void. Zhe Yan, Bai Qian, and Bai Zhen arrived in a panic, heartbroken by Feng Jiu's recklessness. Donghua also arrived at Kunlun Void.
Bai Qian, already angry with him, confronted him directly, demanding to know why he had entangled Feng Jiu in a love debt when he knew he couldn't have one. Before Donghua could fully apologize, Bai Qian furiously interrupted, asking what good an apology was if he couldn't bear the extreme pain of Feng Jiu's severed tail. Inside, Feng Jiu, still disoriented, saw Donghua and initially mistook him for a hallucination. However, when she fully regained consciousness and realized he was truly sitting by her bedside, she immediately curled into his embrace.
