Sinopsis
The young girl A Yuan, due to her family's poverty, is sold to Chang San Lou to become a singer. She helps revolutionary Xia Zhishi evade capture and falls in love with him. After their wedding in Shanghai, they travel to Japan for studies, where she adopts a new name, Dong Zhujun.
Four years later, Dong Zhujun returns to Xia Zhishi's hometown in Sichuan as the wife of a military governor. However, behind the glamour lies her husband's coldness and suspicion. Dong Zhujun leaves with her four daughters and returns to Shanghai to start anew.
She establishes Jinjiang Sichuan Restaurant and Jinjiang Tea House, using her business to shelter Communist Party members. She also starts a magazine and a printing house to promote Communist ideals. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Dong Zhujun donates both Jinjiang establishments to the state, which are expanded into the Jinjiang Hotel.
