Synopsis
Years ago, journalist Shen Leshui used his camera to document the lives of workers at the old Songjiang Brewery. The stories here, like a long-aged beer, ferment complex emotions and shroud the mystery surrounding the death of a woman named Liu Xuemei.
Once the pride of the city, the brewery fell into decline and later became the stage for multiple murders. Liu Xuemei's life and death were tightly entwined in a conspiracy driven by ambition and greed. Each person was like a chess piece, ruthlessly manipulated and sacrificed.
The truth always hides in the most inconspicuous corners. A "ghost" lurking for years orchestrates a bloody revenge. His rage and despair manifest as the shadow of serial killings looming over Songjiang. The wheel of fate finally reaches its end in a sudden yet seemingly predestined accident. Shen Leshui picks up his camera once more, capturing the timeless struggle of humanity within it.
