A Robot in the Orange Orchard Episode 4 Recap
> A Robot in the Orange Orchard Recap
Yang Shanshan took a leave from her duties to visit her family. Her Aunt prepared a meal featuring her favorite hairy crabs, and soon her Uncle arrived home. He was displeased when Yang Shanshan offered her younger sister, Enbao, some impractical advice, insisting that Enbao prioritize her studies over unrealistic ideas. He then lectured Yang Shanshan about finding a proper job to give her mother some peace of mind.
As his frustration grew, her Uncle threw Yang Shanshan's creative invention to the ground. This act deeply hurt Yang Shanshan, as the invention was a dream her father had always wished to realize. She explained that she was merely trying to achieve their shared aspirations and felt his discouragement was unnecessary, even if he didn't support her. Upset, Yang Shanshan left. Later, Yang Shanshan returned to Fu Yang's company, where an unpleasant exchange occurred.
Fu Yang mocked her for having a low IQ, which prompted Yang Shanshan to retort that despite his high intelligence, he couldn't even afford the studio's electricity bill. She sarcastically suggested he sell his brain on the second-hand market to pay the bills, leaving the "highly intelligent" Fu Yang speechless. During a team hotpot meal at the studio, Yang Shanshan continued to feel out of place among the self-proclaimed geniuses. Fully charged, Yang Shanshan went to Lu Sen's house.
Lu Sen instructed her about the house rules, emphasizing that a glass room was a forbidden zone. He then showed her his photo wall, where he kept images of the most important people to him, including his parents. Friday (Yang Shanshan) was instructed to input this information. When asked about his parents, Lu Sen explained they had passed away long ago. Lu Sen later made a phone call, expressing anger at someone he called a "thief" for taking his necklace.
He revealed to Friday that the necklace was his parents' love token and was very important to him, adding that he detested deception. He asked Friday to analyze a photo of his parents to determine if they were truly in love. Friday confirmed their genuine affection based on their facial expressions. At this moment, Yang Shanshan experienced a sudden stomach ache and blurted out "Darn it."
Friday, misunderstanding, recorded the name of a little girl in another important photo as "Darn it." Lu Sen also pointed out his card castle, another forbidden zone, which he had been building for fifteen years. Meanwhile, Fu Yang's entire team also suffered from stomach aches, rushing to the bathroom. They realized the instant noodles they ate the previous night were expired. They worried about Yang Shanshan, knowing that robots don't have such human needs.
Yang Shanshan, unable to hold it any longer, accidentally farted in front of Lu Sen. To cover her tracks, she blamed him, leaving Lu Sen baffled and questioning if he had actually farted. He went upstairs to change. Taking the opportunity, Yang Shanshan quickly used the toilet. As she finished, Lu Sen came downstairs and heard the toilet flush, immediately going to investigate. To mask any lingering odors, Yang Shanshan sprayed what she thought was an inexpensive air freshener.
Lu Sen was shocked to discover she was using his custom-made, highly expensive perfume as an air freshener. Noticing sweat on her face, Lu Sen approached her, but slipped on some water on the floor and dropped the valuable perfume bottle. Prioritizing the expensive item over Lu Sen, Yang Shanshan lunged to save the perfume, using Lu Sen as a soft landing. Infuriated, Lu Sen demanded that Friday should prioritize his safety, citing Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics.
Yang Shanshan, however, used physics to argue that it would have been more logical for him to dodge the fall himself. During this exchange, when Lu Sen childishly asked if she would save him or another person if both fell into the sea, Yang Shanshan sarcastically remarked on his childishness. To teach Friday about loyalty, Lu Sen showed her a video of a dog saving its master, instructing her to be equally devoted.
Friday, however, explained that a dog's loyalty stems from the love it receives. Lu Sen then promised to cherish and love Friday if she, in turn, showed him unwavering loyalty and always put him first. He then asked if Friday would recognize him no matter what he transformed into, and left to get changed. During this time, the Alpha team observed that Lu Sen was behaving strangely, showing genuine emotions.
Lu Sen then returned and tested Friday by showing her various distorted images; Friday successfully recognized him as her master, prompting Lu Sen to reiterate his promise to cherish and love her. He then seriously instructed Friday that if he ever changed into someone she didn't recognize, she must give him an injection from a syringe in his bedroom drawer. Yang Shanshan, hearing this, sensed a deep sadness and secret within him.
While Lu Sen was making seafood noodle soup, he offered some to Friday, wanting her to experience being human. Seizing an opportunity, Yang Shanshan (as Friday) had another robot, Max, play an advertisement for the Youth Creativity Competition. Lu Sen, annoyed, immediately ordered Max to turn it off. Friday then passionately argued for the competition, highlighting its positive social impact and the aspiring designers awaiting such an opportunity.
Lu Sen, however, firmly stated that he had personally canceled it and, as CEO and Chairman, had no time for "trivial matters." Friday pressed him further on what he considered important, to which he listed his wealth and status as a valuable entrepreneur. When asked if he had dreams, he admitted to having them. Frustrated by Friday's persistence, Lu Sen assigned her a list of chores, including washing dishes and mopping the floor.
As she carried out her tasks, Yang Shanshan intentionally entered Lu Sen's forbidden card castle area and knocked over the elaborate structure he had built over fifteen years. She then vented her frustration, calling him an "unscrupulous capitalist" who destroys dreams, a "simpleton" who can't distinguish between humans and robots, and a "fool" who celebrates robot birthdays. Meanwhile, Fu Yang's team, monitoring Yang Shanshan, realized her true intention for impersonating Friday was to convince Lu Sen to restart the Youth Creativity Competition.
